Chapters 323: The Third Child

The sky was overcast today, with no sun. It was not yet evening, but the sky was already gradually darkening.

The midwife and nanny were all ready and waiting in the room.

The servants all knew that the prince valued Su Gege very much. He had not followed etiquette and stayed by her side during her two previous childbirths. The servants were used to this and did not say anything to stop him.

However, while Su Yushan was inside the house, Hongli was not by her side. Instead, he stood in the courtyard, watching the servants bringing hot water into the house. His heart was in his throat as he waited anxiously.

When Li Yu returned, his dark eyes brightened slightly, and he lowered his voice and said:

"All settled in?"

Li Yusu replied, "Your Majesty, please rest assured, I have made all the arrangements. If there are any unforeseen circumstances, we can make replacements promptly."

Hongli trusted Li Yu's abilities. Having received confirmation, he felt at ease and went into the inner room to keep Su Yushan company.

At this moment, Yu Shan was in unbearable pain and had no time to take care of herself, so she didn't ask him where he had gone or what he was busy with.

Right now, she has only one wish: that her child be born safely. She doesn't care whether the child is a boy or a girl, as long as the child is healthy and normal in all aspects.

The pain was coming in shorter and shorter intervals, but she wasn't afraid, because she knew very well that this was a sign that her child was about to be born!

Despite the pain, she still looked forward, believing that only the birth of her child would bring her true relief.

Hongli stayed by her side, so she could see him whenever she looked up. He didn't say anything, but she could sense that he was also worried, worried about whether the child would be healthy after birth...

But she couldn't think about that anymore. The contractions came again, and the midwife reminded her to push. Exhausted, Su Yushan listened to the midwife's words, concentrated her mind, and focused on pushing.

After this happened several times, the sound of a child crying finally came from inside the house!

The midwife breathed a sigh of relief, took the baby, and congratulated with a smile, "Congratulations, Your Highness! Congratulations, Princess! It's a little prince!"

It was indeed a boy! This was what Hongli had been hoping for most; his wish had finally come true! However, the midwife seemed to have only glanced at the child and hadn't examined him closely yet, so he wasn't sure if the child was healthy.

Exhausted and covered in sweat, Su Yushan held Hongli's hand tightly and gently comforted him:

"Yushan, you've worked so hard! Our baby is born!"

Su Yushan was restless. She wanted to see the child, but the nanny didn't bring the baby over. Instead, she looked at the prince with difficulty, and Hongli smiled and advised:

"The baby's cry is very loud, and it sounds healthy. Don't worry, I'll go check on it in a bit. You've worked so hard, so rest for a while and check on it after you've woken up."

Giving birth is too physically demanding, and Su Yushan was indeed too exhausted to move. She just wanted to lie there. Since Hongli would come to see her, she didn't force herself to get up and let the servants clean up her mess and change her clothes.

Hongli then went out. Su Yushan was very sleepy, but she couldn't fall asleep. She was waiting for Hongli to come and explain the situation to her.

However, it seems he has been gone for a long time and hasn't come back yet. He just wanted to see the child, so why did it take so long?

He must know what she's worried about, and he should come back and tell her, right? Why is he still nowhere to be seen?

Her eyelids were opening and closing, almost sticking together, but she stubbornly refused to sleep until a quarter of an hour later, when she finally heard familiar footsteps and then saw Hongli enter the room.

Su Yushan struggled to her feet and asked, "Why did it take so long? Is there something wrong with the baby?"

"Uh..." Hongli's eyes flickered slightly, but he quickly regained his composure and replied with a smile, "There's no problem, don't worry!"

That moment of hesitation made Su Yushan uneasy, and she couldn't help but suspect, "Really? Did you see it with your own eyes? Is he a real boy? Is there anything wrong with him?"

“It’s a real young man. I checked him carefully, and his features and limbs are all normal. There’s nothing wrong with him.” Hongli assured her repeatedly that the child was fine, and Su Yushan was finally relieved.

Exhausted, she fell asleep and slept for two hours before waking up.

A servant brought over a bowl of radish and pork rib soup and lean meat porridge. Su Yushan was very tired but not hungry. She only managed to eat two pieces of pork ribs and drink half a bowl of porridge.

Then she said she wanted to see the child, but Hongli said he had just gone to see the child and the child was sleeping soundly. He would see the child after the child woke up.

She only wanted to see the child, so why was Hongli repeatedly stopping her? What was going on? Yushan's suspicions resurfaced; something felt off.

"Newborn babies either eat or sleep, and it's hard to wake them up. I'll just have the nanny bring them over so I can take a look."

Yu Shan insisted on seeing the child, and Hongli had no choice but to agree. He then ordered someone to bring the child over.

When Su Yushan saw the nanny bring the child over, even though the nanny's steps were very light, she felt as if those steps were heavy on her heart, making her feel extremely suffocated and even making it difficult to breathe!

She longs to see her child, yet fears seeing a scene she doesn't want to face.

The nanny, however, remained calm and handed the child to her with a smile.

Su Yushan took the child with trembling arms and held him in her arms. She looked down and saw that the child was fast asleep, with normal eyebrows and eyes, good ears, and no missing fingers.

Still feeling uneasy, she carefully lifted the blanket covering Xiaoxi again, peeked underneath, and examined her closely.

After seeing it with her own eyes, she was finally relieved and secretly rejoiced that her child was perfectly fine and had not been affected by the gender-changing pill. It seemed that she had really worried too much!

After confirming that the child was alright, Su Yushan felt relieved and finally stopped worrying.

However, the observant woman still noticed something was off about Hongli.
