The 387th Summer Palace



Yonghuang was very sensible and comforted his mother, telling her not to worry about him and that he would study hard and live up to her expectations.

With the palace rules in place, Su Yushan had no choice but to comply and do as Hongli wished.

The departure date was set for the first day of June. A few days before their departure, at the end of May, Su Yushan was at home with the children.

Yonghuang had just returned from school and was helping his younger brother check his writing when he saw his father, the Emperor, rushing into the room, looking unwell.

Su Yushan assumed that Hongli had encountered some distressing incident in the previous court, so she ordered the nanny to take the two children away, but Hongli stopped her.

"Wait a minute!"

After sitting down, Hongli raised his hand, and Li Yu presented two papers to his master. Hongli unfolded them with one hand, stared intently at Yonghuang, and questioned him in a deep voice.

"Tell me, who wrote this calligraphy?"

Yonghuang glanced at it, his heart trembling slightly. For a moment, he didn't know how to answer. Su Yushan stepped forward, took the book, and looked at it, her eyes flashing with surprise.

"This... doesn't look like Yonghuang's handwriting! What happened?"

Hongli did not respond, but instead asked Yonghuang, "Among the homework Yonglian submitted, there are two pieces with largely identical handwriting, but upon closer inspection, the strokes are slightly different. Did you write them for him?"

Father Emperor had already discovered this, so Yonghuang dared not hide it any longer and told the truth: "Yesterday at noon, the teacher said that he could not eat if he did not finish writing. I saw that my second brother's food was getting cold, so I wrote two sheets for him."

It really was him! Hongli was furious and shouted angrily, "The master has his reasons for punishing him. You are not helping him by making up the mistakes, but harming him! Besides, your mother and I have repeatedly told you not to have any private dealings with Yonglian. Why did you still help him with his homework?"
