The Truth of the Dream (Chapter 123)

“I got drunk that noon. Kim Min-kyung did come, but I let her go. Later, I felt dizzy and lightheaded. I seemed to dream about you. I dreamed that you helped me into the tent… I always thought it was a dream, but Kim Min-kyung said it was real, that the person was actually her.”

Yushan, I'm very confused right now. I don't remember any of the details she described, but I can assure you, I will never touch her first.

"So what are you trying to say? That it was just a drunken affair, and she just happened to be pregnant?"

He couldn't think of any other explanation. "I did drink that day, but not too much. I was still fairly sober, but after she left, I became disoriented. There must be something fishy about this. I will find out and give you an explanation."

It was the same familiar rhetoric that Su Yushan was tired of hearing: "There's no need to investigate anymore. You've been investigating for a year already. Even if you have all the witnesses and evidence, she can still get away scot-free."

Feeling ashamed at the teasing, Hongli was helpless. "I was determined to get rid of her, but she suddenly became pregnant. What could I do? She is carrying the royal blood. If I were to kick her out of the house at this time, Father and Mother would definitely not agree."

Because he knew exactly what the outcome would be, Hongli didn't want to make empty promises to her, lest she be disappointed once again.

He initially claimed there wasn't enough evidence, but now the evidence is conclusive, yet he's letting her off the hook again because she's pregnant. Each time, he has a different reason. Su Yushan has finally seen through him.

“Hongli, if you want to get rid of someone, you only need one reason. If you want to protect someone, you will have a thousand or ten thousand reasons. In short, you just can’t bear to touch her.”

The grief and disappointment in her eyes pierced his heart like a sharp blade. Hongli was speechless, for it was the truth, but he still raised his finger to show his support.

"I swear to God, I have absolutely no pity for Kim Min-kyung. Yu-shan, believe me, this really was an accident!"

Just moments ago, she unconditionally believed him, thinking he would never touch Kim Min-kyung. But reality slapped her hard in the face: Kim Min-kyung was indeed pregnant, and the child was Hongli's. The more she believed then, the more ironic it became now.

"And yet, I trusted you so much, repeatedly telling myself not to believe Kim Min-jung's side of the story, but what happened? You actually went with her..."

She simply couldn't bring herself to say those words; just imagining them made her tremble and feel incredibly disgusted!

"You said you were in a difficult position, so I chose to let go of my hatred and stop arguing with her. For you, I abandoned my old ideas and chose to stay by your side to adapt. You knew that I had a deep-seated hatred for her, so why did you have to choose her of all people? I would have no complaints about anyone else, but I just can't accept Kim Min-jung!"

Su Yushan, her eyes red with grief and indignation, was extremely agitated. Her gaze towards him was filled with boundless hatred. Hongli only regretted that he was drunk and confused and had been caught off guard, allowing Jin Minjing to take advantage of the situation. He could understand Su Yushan's feelings, but he had been tricked!

“Yushan, you should know how I treat you. How could I possibly touch her willingly? She must have used some tricks to cause all those things to happen. Even if she is pregnant, I will never have any feelings for her. Once she gives birth, I will kick her out of the manor.”

Su Yushan, covered in blood, endured the pain of pulling out all the thorns and smoothing out all the rough edges, all for this so-called love. In the end, she had to face such an embarrassing situation: Jin Minjing was pregnant! How could she bear this?

She suddenly felt incredibly tired, as if she had lost all reason to persevere. Desperate, she no longer wanted to waste her energy arguing. Her head throbbed with pain, her brain tightening and relaxing as if gripped by an invisible hand. Unable to bear it any longer, she wearily murmured:

"Don't make any more promises to me. I won't believe a single word you say anymore!"

Su Yushan turned to leave, but Hongli grabbed her wrist, wanting to explain further, "Yushan, listen to me!"

He was still trying his best to clarify, but her consciousness was getting weaker and weaker. She could only feel that his voice was very faint. In the end, she could not hear anything clearly. Her vision went black, her body went limp, and she fainted.

Hongli's heart tightened, and he immediately helped her up, "Yushan, Yushan?"

After calling her several times without getting a response, Hongli immediately carried her to the tent and shouted, "Someone, go and fetch a doctor!"
