Chapter 124 Sister

Since Qian Shengyan couldn't move, she stayed at Wanfang Anhe again. After causing such a fuss, she spent the night chatting intimately with Yinzhen until late, so she woke up a little late the next day.

"Master, Consort Guo arrived half an hour ago," Qingxue said as she helped her get dressed.

Qian Shengyan exclaimed, "Huh?" "Didn't you let her go back first?"

"She said she wasn't in a hurry and was willing to wait for her master to get up." Qingxue said helplessly, "When I invited her in, she refused and just waited in the corridor."

Qian Shengyan quickly stood up: "Wouldn't they freeze? Please come in."

When Guo entered, she knelt down and kowtowed to Qian Shengyan without saying a word. Qian Shengyan was startled and quickly helped her up, asking, "What's wrong?"

"Thank you so much, Consort. My brother, my little brother, is much better now..." Madam Guo's eyes were red and swollen. "I wanted to come and thank you as soon as I saw the letter from home yesterday, but it was too late, and the Prince was here... Thanks to Consort, you helped me find Doctor Zhou. My brother finally woke up from his coma yesterday, and the family said he can eat porridge now..."

"My whole family kowtows to thank Consort Qian for her great kindness and virtue!" Guo kowtowed again while crying, making Sheng Yan helpless.

She pulled Guo up with all her might and sighed, "It's good that she's alright."

Guo looked at her with teary eyes, and Qian Shengyan smiled and said, "Alright, your hands are so cold. Qingxue, bring Guo Gege a cup of hot tea."

"Yes." Qingxue came over, and Qian Shengyan looked at her again: "Where is the Prince?"

"His Highness had some business to attend to this morning and has already left the garden," Qingxue replied.

Qian Shengyan then said to Guo Gege, "Since you're here, let's have breakfast together."

Guo was flattered and naturally agreed.

Qian Shengyan asked Fuerguochun again and learned that she had already gotten up and eaten and was playing, so she did not go to find her. Instead, she sat with Guo Shi in the small hall, chatting and waiting for the meal to be served.

When the conversation went into detail, Qian Shengyan learned that Guo's younger brother had a blood disease, and that Dr. Zhou had once treated a patient with similar symptoms. Although he couldn't cure the patient, he did prolong that patient's life.

“It’s normal for children to bump and bruise themselves, but my younger brother is very hard to heal once he gets injured. Now he gets nosebleeds all the time, and once it starts, he can’t stop…” Guo Shi said with some sadness. “Even if… even if it can’t be cured, it would be a blessing if he could get a little better.”

"It's such a strange disease." Qian Shengyan understood. This is what is called leukemia in modern times. It is truly... an incurable disease.

"Master," Green Willow said as she entered and curtsied, "Aunt Yanruo, who serves the Princess Consort, has arrived."

"Hmm? Then please come quickly." Qian Shengyan glanced at the dining table, and since they had almost finished eating, she said, "Let's go to the side hall."

"Since Consort Guo has other matters to attend to, this servant will take her leave now." Madam Guo sensibly rose and bowed, intending to take her leave.

Qian Shengyan thought for a moment and said, "It's alright. It's probably something that the Princess Consort has to say. Since you're here, let's listen together."

Her guess was correct; Yanruo's visit was indeed because Ulanara had something to discuss: "Consort, the Princess said that the weather has warmed up recently, and several pots of clivia flowers in the flower room are blooming beautifully. Tomorrow, she would like to invite Consort to Yue Di Yun Ju to admire the flowers."

Qian Shengyan paused for a moment, then agreed. Yanruo happened to see Guo Shi and said, "It's good that Guo Gege is here. Please come with us tomorrow."

"Ah, okay." Guo was also confused about what was going on, but seeing that Qian Shengyan had agreed, she agreed as well.

After Yanruo finished inviting everyone, she left. A moment later, Qingxue came in and said to Qian Shengyan, "I heard that Yue Di Yun Ju also sent people to Ying Shui Lan Xiang and Dan Bo Ning Jing. It seems that the Fujin invited everyone."

Qian Shengyan nodded. Although she didn't understand what the other party wanted to do, she figured that since it was so open and aboveboard, nothing bad should happen.

After Guo returned, Qingxue reported the news she had gathered to Qian Shengyan: "Master, I heard that after the Lantern Festival, Lady Ulanara came once, but... she brought three people with her when she came, and when she left, only two people were left with her."

Qian Shengyan raised an eyebrow slightly: "Left someone behind? A servant? A nanny?" She paused, then, remembering what Kangxi liked to do most, couldn't help but guess again, "Or is it a young lady from the Ulanara family?"

"I heard that someone has recently moved into the side hall of Moonlit Cloud Residence, but I can't find out who it is," Qingxue said somewhat embarrassedly.

Qian Shengyan clicked her tongue: "Then it's not the nanny. This must be a young lady from the Ulanara family..."

Emperor Kangxi liked to have both sisters in one family, but Emperor Yongzheng... doesn't seem to have that quirk, does he?

However, it's easy to guess what Ulanara was planning. She was simply too old to have children, so she wanted to find a younger sister. If she could gain the prince's favor, it wouldn't do her any harm. Once she had another child, wouldn't Ulanara be overjoyed?

Forget it, it's none of her business.

Qian Shengyan didn't care, but some people were really going to be furious!

When Lady Nian heard that Lady Ulanara dared to invite her to the Moon Cloud Residence, she smashed a set of teacups. She watched with a cold smile as Granny Wei politely saw the maid off, then angrily said, "What flower appreciation? I'm not going!"

Granny Wei glanced thoughtfully at Jieyue, who was guarding outside, but quickly dismissed the idea.

She turned around and smiled, saying, "Miss is not feeling well, so it's fine if you don't want to go."

Even after Granny Wei said that, Madam Nian was still unhappy: "No, I'm going! How dare she even look at the flowers? I'll go and make sure she doesn't get to see them!"

“Miss…” Granny Wei knew that Madam Nian was just saying it. During the Lantern Festival banquet, Madam Nian and Madam Ulanara sat together but did nothing. She only came back angry. She hesitated for a moment, but still said, “I heard that Madam Ulanara came a few days ago and it seems that she sent a young lady into the garden.”
