Chapter Thirty-Three: Receiving Gifts!

After the meal, Yuan Shou was taken back by his wet nurse to have another feeding, while Qian Shengyan tidied up and prepared to visit the Third Prince.

—Ever since Yinzhen told her to keep an eye on the Third Prince, Qian Shengyan has been going to that courtyard around this time almost every day. Since Hongshi has already had dinner, she can go there to ask him how his three meals were, how much the prince ate, and whether he enjoyed them.

Anyway, that's all she can manage. As for academics and such, that's something her father, Yinzhen, will take care of.

A few days ago, she made several winter clothes for Hongshi. This morning, the sewing room delivered the clothes. Qian Shengyan unfolded them and looked at them. She saw that the stitches were fine and the embroidery was exquisite. The fur trim on the collar and cuffs was also very well done. She nodded in satisfaction and folded them up again, preparing to send them over.

Sitting next to him, Yinzhen could tell who it was made for just by looking at the size. He was somewhat surprised: "The material that I gave you, you... you even set aside some for Hongshi to make clothes?"

"I've made several sets of matching outfits for the Third Prince and the Fourth Prince, and two matching cloaks for the Fifth Prince," Qian Shengyan said with a smile. "They should look quite nice if they wear them together someday."

Yinzhen's eyes immediately softened with tenderness. He put down the book in his hand, walked over and carefully examined the clothes she had prepared for Hongshi, and sighed softly, "Alright."

Regardless of his complicated thoughts, Qian Shengyan packed her clothes and went to Hongshi's courtyard.

I had heard that Yinzhen had already suggested a name for Hongshi's courtyard, but for some reason it was not put up. Now Hongshi's courtyard does not have a proper name, and people only refer to it as "the courtyard where the Third Prince lives".

After passing the Prince's Garden, walk a little further to the northwest corner, and you will reach the courtyard where the Third Prince lives.

Even if Qian Shengyan came every day, Hongshi would not be able to see her specifically—of course, she didn't want to see that brat either; she was just there to ask about the Third Prince's wet nurse, Madam Feng, to show her concern for the Third Prince.

When Granny Feng was taking away those clothes, she couldn't help but show some resistance. Qian Shengyan saw this but didn't say anything. She just smiled and told them to be careful and take good care of the Third Prince.

Every day after visiting the Third Prince, Qian Shengyan prepared to go back, but she was stopped by an unfamiliar maid after only a few steps outside the courtyard.

The maid knelt down and kowtowed to her, then lowered her eyes and said, "Gege Qian, I am Xi'er from the side of the Consort. The Consort thanks you for taking care of the Third Prince and would like to invite you to Fulu Courtyard for a chat."

"Thank you for your kindness, Consort, but it's getting late, and the Fourth Prince is still young. I have to hold and soothe him before he goes to sleep, otherwise he will cry for a long time." Qian Sheng smiled and asked Qing Xue to help the maid up. "I am really sorry, Consort. I will definitely come to apologize another day."

“…You flatter me, Lady Qian.” Xi’er was being held tightly by two maids and could no longer move. She could only watch helplessly as Qian Shengyan left.

As they approached the garden, Qingxue caught up with her entourage. Qian Shengyan turned her head slightly and heard Qingxue whisper in her ear, "She is indeed from Fuluyuan. I saw her go back with my own eyes."

"Fulu Hospital is open?" Qian Shengyan frowned. The last time she heard about Fulu Hospital, she was told that the gates were closed and no one except Doctor Zhou was allowed to enter or leave at will.

Qingxue didn't know either, and only asked, "What does Your Highness think the concubine wanted to see you about?"

"It's probably to help Geng Gege have a safe pregnancy," Qian Shengyan said casually.

Qingxue chuckled at her teasing and then felt relieved: "It's good that you know, Princess... We must not get involved with Fulu Courtyard now."

Qian Shengyan nodded. She wasn't stupid. She knew that Geng's pregnancy was not good, yet she still went in and "bumped" into her. If she went in and "bumped" Geng, the baby would definitely be lost, and everything would be blamed on her.

Wouldn't she be unable to explain herself no matter how many mouths she tried?

Besides, she has her own courtyard and her own children, why would she go to someone else's courtyard so late at night? If Madam Li really appreciates her taking care of Hongshi, she doesn't need to go through all this trouble; she could just give her a gift.

As Qian Shengyan was thinking this, she was startled when she entered her courtyard—there were three or four large boxes neatly arranged on the ground, all with their lids open, containing various fabrics and leathers.

Not far away under the corridor, Yinzhen was holding Yuanshou and looking at it. When he saw Qian Shengyan return, Yuanshou first greeted her warmly, "Ee'e," and then pointed to the box and called out, "Father."

Qian Shengyan instantly understood. She walked over in surprise and curtsied to Yinzhen: "These are for you, Your Highness?"

“It’s yours,” Yinzhen said gently.

Qian Shengyan: ...

"There's no use keeping them. They'll attract bugs if left out for too long. Why don't you help me think of what kind of clothes to make for whom?" Yinzhen said with a smile.

Qian Shengyan: ...

She! Just now! She finally finished using up all the materials she got this year, and now she has so much more!

so much!

Qian Shengyan, who disliked hoarding things, was somewhat desperate, but Wang Baoen had already led Xiao Shunzi to clear out a side room in the backyard and, together with several eunuchs in the front yard, put away the fabric.

"You should get a small storeroom in your courtyard too," Yinzhen said thoughtfully, then chuckled and glanced sideways at Qian Shengyan.

Qian Shengyan understood his meaning perfectly well. She gave a light snort and curtsied, saying, "This servant doesn't have anything good here, so there's no need for such precious items from the storeroom."

Yinzhen laughed and called out to Su Peisheng, "Didn't you hear what your master Qian said? Go find some jewelry to fill your master Qian's storeroom."

"Yes, Your Highness." Su Peisheng was quick-witted and didn't ask any more questions. He led a few eunuchs out of Dongyou Courtyard and soon returned with two smaller boxes. "Your Highness, do you think these are enough?"
