Located on the east side near the Forbidden City, in Princess Huaiyue's residence.
Folgochun, who had been married for less than three months, was busy from early morning. This was the first banquet held in her princess's mansion, and she was both excited and thrilled. She had barely slept last night.
E Rong'an followed behind her, occasionally reaching out to help her, but Ferguchun didn't care. She ran back and forth to make sure everything was ready, then stood at the door to greet people.
He Hui's family was the first to arrive, followed by Ming Hui with her husband, and then Fu Erguochun picked up the two sisters. They thought Duan Rou would arrive soon, but after waiting for a while, she still hadn't come.
"Let's not wait any longer, let's go sit in the flower hall first. Let me tell you, I have some delicious food here today!" Folgorchun greeted his friends and walked inside excitedly.
He Hui laughed and said, "Aren't we waiting for Fourth Brother and Fifth Brother?"
"Don't even mention it. Yesterday, Fourth Brother even took time out of his busy schedule to give me a lecture. Before he left, he said he was very busy and could only come around mealtimes, so we didn't need to wait for him," Folgochun said with a smile. "Fourth Sister-in-law and Fifth Sister-in-law are both pregnant, and the weather is getting colder and colder, so it's not convenient for them to leave the palace."
At this point, Folgochun raised an eyebrow at her two sisters: "We're so much more comfortable living outside the palace. It's so convenient for us to come and go as we please."
“Yes, it’s not something everyone can do, going to each of her sisters’ houses to freeload a meal right after getting married,” Minghui said, and everyone laughed again.
Foerguochun sent someone to fetch Hongshan, and he arrived now. He still liked Errong'an very much. As soon as he came in, he circled around his brother-in-law. Errong'an was afraid that there would be too many people and he would be squeezed, so he picked him up.
Eight-year-old Hongshan still has baby fat, but he is already quite tall. Perhaps because he has loved running and jumping since he was a child, he is very strong. Even Hongli can only lift him up once, while Erong'an can still hold him for a while.
Hongshan was so happy that his feet were dangling, and he hugged E Rong'an, calling him "brother-in-law" repeatedly. E Rong'an patted him on the back and was about to say something when the gatekeeper came over with a wooden box in his hand, looking worried.
E Rong'an's face darkened, and he slightly turned to block the view from the flower hall. The servant, seeing him, handed it over familiarly: "Your Highness, you're here again..."
"Hmph." E Rong'an skillfully unlocked the small lock, took out the letter inside, and threw it into the brazier outside the flower hall without even looking at it.
Hongshan curiously peeked out and vaguely saw the character "Zhang": "What is it, brother-in-law?"
"It's nothing, just trash." E Rong'an frowned slightly and handed the box to the servant. "Throw it away."
The servant took the order and left. Hongshan was about to ask again when he heard his sister calling him. He responded, quickly slid off Er Rong'an's arms, and ran towards the flower hall.
Fearing that he might blurt out about the letter, E Rong'an followed and sat down next to Folguochun. There, he heard Folguochun asking Hongshan, "What good things did Fourth Brother give you yesterday?"
Hongshan pouted, "We can't tell my sister!"
"Tell your sister, and she'll give you an extra one." Like the Big Bad Wolf tempting Little Red Riding Hood, Folgochun pinched Hongshan's little face. "I also have a small jade bow that I'll give you to take back and play with."
Hongshan didn't really want the jade bow, since he couldn't use it anyway, but he wanted two good things in one go, so he said, "Fourth Brother gave me a fine horse! Sister! Please give me one too!"
Folgochun: ...
She had nothing to give.
And she also wants to... *sobs*
"Are Fourth Brother and Fifth Brother so busy?" He Hui asked while tapping a small walnut. "Isn't Thirteenth Uncle here too?"
“Yes, Fourth Brother is in the Grand Council, and Fifth Brother is in the Ministry of Revenue. They’re both busy places.” Folgochun pouted. “Father Emperor is really something. They’re both so busy, but I’m so free. He didn’t even take me to the hot springs…”
He Hui couldn't help but laugh: "If you want to go, then go ahead. Don't you have a estate over there?"
“Besides, when you go to check on the factory’s progress, don’t you spend enough time there?” Minghui added.
“That’s different!” Folgochun sighed. “They’ve all been gone for three days, and I haven’t seen my mother for three days.”
Upon hearing the mention of his mother, Xiao Hongshan's face fell: "Sister, when is Mother coming back?"
"It'll probably be at least another half month," Folgochun sighed, resting his chin on his hand. "I've never been separated from my mother for so long before."
“My younger brothers have all gone,” Hongshan said sadly. “But Father Emperor won’t let me go too.”
The more the two of them talked, the more they missed their mother. The others could only quickly comfort them, saying, "How old are the Seventh and Eighth Princes? Of course they can't be separated from their birth mother. Besides, when you were little, the Imperial Noble Consort took you everywhere she went."
Just then, Duanrou finally arrived, but she was not accompanied by her consort, and she looked somewhat tired, even her smile seemed a little forced.
The other princesses exchanged glances, but with their husbands and Hongshan still present, they remained silent.
Once the meal was ready, Hongli and Hongzhou finally rode up. Both of them were sweating profusely in the dead of winter, and Hongzhou hurriedly sat down to grab chopsticks and start eating: "I'm starving, I didn't even have time for breakfast."
"Is the Ministry of Revenue really that busy?" Folgochun asked curiously.
Hongzhou sighed, "The end of the year is the busiest time! Look at these dark circles under my eyes, and I've even lost weight!"
"...I didn't realize." Foerguochun chuckled, then asked Hongli, "Is Fourth Brother also this busy?"
"With Lord Zhang and Lord Ortai here, I'm fine." Hongli also looked a little tired and sat there without wanting to move. Folgochun felt sorry for him and personally served him a bowl of soup.
Hongzhou raised an eyebrow, but before he could say anything, Foerguochun handed him another bowl, and he laughed again: "At least you have a conscience."
