Yi Hua, who had been suffering from a high fever for three days, finally woke up. She struggled to open her heavy eyes. There seemed to be many people around her bed, and excited voices rang in her ears. She was fed bitter medicine, and Yi Hua frowned as she swallowed unconsciously before quietly falling back asleep.
"Why has the Princess Consort fainted again?"
"Don't worry, young lady. Now that the princess has woken up and swallowed, and her high fever has subsided, she's fine. Just take good care of her." The royal physician quickly reassured Yu Xue and the others, and then adjusted the dosage of the medicine.
The imperial physicians had naturally been summoned back to the palace by the emperor. Fortunately, although Yihua's illness looked dangerous, she pulled through and was relatively easy to treat.
Honghui and the eldest princess had been watching over Yihua for several days. Although Hongyun wasn't often by Yihua's bedside, he came to pay his respects and inquire about her health every day. Yinzhen's temper became increasingly volatile after Yihua had been unconscious for several days. In addition, an incident occurred in the palace that involved the Ninth Prince. Everyone serving in the front courtyard, starting with Su Peisheng, was punished with a beating.
Now that Yihua has woken up, all the eunuchs in the front courtyard are chanting Amitabha Buddha, and the prince, this raging lion, can finally take a nap.
Liu Liu is doing well. Although she is young, she spends all her time looking after Yi Hua and remembers to take care of Xiao Lang. She has grown up quickly and is no longer the immature little girl she used to be.
Little Wolf was the first to break down. He started crying on the first day before Yi Hua woke up, and no one could comfort him. Even Yin Zhen tried to hold him but failed. It was only after Hong Hui whispered a few words to him that Little Wolf calmed down.
Now that Yihua is awake, the little wolf immediately wanted to pounce on her, but Honghui stopped him: "Little wolf, your mother just woke up and can't withstand your strength. Be good and give your mother a kiss, okay?"
"good."
The little wolf was picked up by the eldest princess, brought close to Yi Hua, and smacked his lips with a kiss. Not satisfied, he smacked his lips a few more times, smearing Yi Hua's face with saliva.
Yi Hua gave a weak smile, then began to cough incessantly, as if she wanted to vomit up all the fluid in her stomach before she would stop.
Granny Chen had already prepared some congee and fed Yi Hua a few bites. With warm food in her stomach, Yi Hua didn't feel the cramping pain anymore.
"Alright, I'm awake. You all go back to sleep. Come to your mother's for dinner tonight." Yi Hua looked at the children with dark circles under their eyes, and even the little wolf was secretly yawning. She could imagine the torment the children had suffered these past few days.
Seeing that Yi Hua was determined, Hong Hui gave the eldest princess a look, picked up the little wolf, and left first.
The room fell silent. Yi Hua looked up at the doorway, a hint of disappointment in her eyes.
Granny Chen hurried over and added a thick, high cushion behind Yihua: "Madam, the Prince was originally watching over you, but something happened in the palace. The Tenth Prince, the Thirteenth Prince, and the Fourteenth Prince came looking for our master. I inquired and it seems to be related to the Ninth Prince. The news that you have woken up has been delivered to the front courtyard. According to this old servant, the master will be here soon."
As soon as Granny Chen finished speaking, Yinzhen's footsteps sounded: "Tangtang, you're awake."
Yinzhen looked Yihua over and saw that she was in good spirits: "The tenth, thirteenth, and fourteenth princes heard that your condition has improved and insisted on seeing you. Are you still able to see people?"
"Please let the gentlemen in, Master." Yi Hua gestured to Granny Chen to cover her with her blanket.
The younger brothers were all very obedient. They could tell from Yinzhen's expression that he could only stay for a few words at most, so they exchanged a few pleasantries and then took their leave.
Yinzhen stayed behind. He touched Yihua's thin, bony hands and felt a pang of heartache: "This time, you've frightened all the children."
"It's my fault." Yi Hua paused for a moment, then smiled. She still felt a little sorry for A Zhu, but the children were the most important thing.
"It's good that you're awake. Your priority now is to focus on recovering and not worry about anything else, understand?" Yinzhen instructed, as he fed Yihua a piece of candied fruit.
Yi Hua nodded. She looked at Yinzhen and felt that he had become much more haggard in just a few days: "Your Highness should shave."
"You still have the mood to nitpick about my appearance? It seems Tangtang has really recovered." Yinzhen said with a smile, stopping Yihua's hand and rubbing his stubble a couple of times.
“The palace will be very turbulent during this period. You can take advantage of your illness to sneak into the palace to pay your respects to the Empress. The children can also stay in the Prince’s residence openly if they need to take care of you.” Yinzhen did not hide anything from Yihua and told her about the situation directly. “Now that Father Emperor’s temperament has changed drastically, although Ninth Prince is currently safe, I am afraid that he will be targeted. The Crown Prince is also making moves. We must be even more careful.”
Yi Hua nodded, indicating that she understood.
"Apart from a few of my younger brothers' wives, we haven't been seeing any outside guests lately, especially the Eighth Prince's wife. If she comes looking for you, just ignore her." Yinzhen's tone wasn't exactly pleasant. This audacious woman, Guo Luoluo, actually dared to stop his carriage; it was truly incomprehensible.
"If all else fails, we can fight our way out," Yinzhen added, clearly furious.
"Look at what you're saying, what has become of our Prince Yong's Mansion? I know how to handle this, Your Highness, don't worry." Yi Hua said a few words, then felt tired again, slowly closed her eyes and fell asleep.
Yinzhen had some matters to attend to in the front courtyard, so he hurriedly came out of the main courtyard. As soon as he looked up, he saw a person dressed as a maid sneaking a peek at him and then running away.
"Whose people are they? How dare they be so unruly?!" Yinzhen asked with a stern face.
Su Peisheng looked bewildered. He groaned inwardly. There were hundreds of maids in the Prince's mansion, but he only recognized a few who served his masters. He didn't need to remember the rest.
