"Do you know what this is?" Yinzhen pointed to the porcelain vase on the table.
Honghui shook his head blankly.
“This is the thing that harmed your mother,” Yinzhen said. “This thing has brought up an old incident from decades ago. Now your imperial grandfather is furious and has ordered me to find the culprit within three days, or else I will be stripped of my title of Beile.”
"Use your clever little brain to think about why I, as a victim, have to endure such thunderous wrath." Yinzhen watched as Honghui gradually panicked.
The room was quiet for the time it takes to drink a cup of tea. Honghui felt the chill on the ground and gently moved his knees.
“Is it…because of me?” Honghui mustered his courage and pouted, “Grandpa thinks I’m just putting on an act, that I was instructed by Father, all because of that old matter.”
“Not too stupid.” Yinzhen noticed Honghui’s leg movements and, feeling sorry for him because of his young age, said, “Get up and talk while standing.”
Honghui slowly stood up, his face full of sorrow: "Father, how could Grandfather misunderstand his son like this?"
"Because your heart is not sincere, you had the intention to take advantage of him from the start." Yinzhen explained, "Honghui, don't underestimate the Emperor. Even your father doesn't dare to play tricks on him, let alone your little schemes."
Honghui looked extremely dejected, a stark contrast to his confident demeanor when he first stepped through the door. He stood with his head down, as if he had suffered a great blow.
“Honghui, your father will teach you one more time: never have any designs on your imperial grandfather, do you hear me?”
"Honghui understands."
Yinzhen shook his head: "I see you don't know. Come here and extend your left hand."
“I should have given you a beating, but your mother’s health has just improved and she can’t be stressed. I’ll hold off until your younger brother is born.” Yinzhen swung the ruler with controlled force. “Today, I’ll teach you a lesson.”
