Chapter 134 Group fight

Jiang Yi has been staying indoors, which has made many people anxious, including Bai Zhaodi.

Even though Bai Shuangmei is staying here, she still has to consider the thoughts of her children and grandchildren, no matter how much she cares about her own family.

Today is Lunar New Year's Eve.

We can't let the children spend the Lunar New Year here, but if we wait any longer, there are so many families around who are eyeing us. By the time they come over after the holiday, it will be a done deal.

She arrived at the Jiang family's door early in the morning with her people, but unexpectedly, someone was there even earlier than them.

"Ailian, what are you doing here?"

Bai Zhaodi narrowed her eyes and looked at Zhou Xiaolan behind her. This girl was lying to her. She said she wouldn't compete with Shuangmei and would only look at the second son of the Zhonghua family.

Zhou Xiaolan spent the whole night at home freezing cold and didn't dare to fall asleep. She never expected that she would be brought to this doorway as soon as it was dawn.

Bai Ailian said, "Aunt, I just sent over a bowl of vegetables because I was worried that Jiang Yi would be spending the New Year alone without making any preparations."

Aunt, what about you?

Bai Zhaodi was reluctant to give anything away, and in her heart she cursed Bai Ailian for being nosy. "It's just that Shuangmei is going home and came over to say hello."

"Cousin, can't you put some thought into this reason?" Bai Ailian thought to herself. "Shuangmei is going back. It's a pity that I, as her cousin, am not capable enough to even offer you a piece of candy. No wonder she didn't come to my house to say goodbye. Remember to give my regards to your family when you get home."

"I understand." Bai Shuangmei stood behind Bai Zhaodi, but her eyes were fixed on the wooden door in front of her. She was really unwilling to have made such a wasted trip. Judging from her aunt's current attitude, she probably wouldn't welcome her to come again.

Bai Zhaodi glanced at the bowl in Zhou Xiaolan's hand a few times, then smiled and knocked on the door past them.

“He’s not going to open it,” Zhou Xiaolan reminded her, adding that Jiang Yi was more difficult to approach than everyone thought.

"Jiang Yi, I'm Grandma Bai from next door. I need to talk to you. Open the door." Bai Zhaodi ignored her, her hands still moving.

Jiang Yi, who was inside the house, was extremely annoyed. Even during the New Year, he couldn't get any peace and quiet.

He felt like he was now a piece of Tang Monk's flesh, and all the female demons outside wanted to take a bite.

I was originally planning to go out and check on the previous results, but I didn't expect these people to be even more idle than I thought, coming to block the door so early.

I pulled the blanket over my head, but the people outside wouldn't let it go, which was really annoying.

"Why don't we go back first?" Zhou Xiaolan whispered to Bai Ailian. Instead of staying here, it would be better to go find Hua Zhian. She had already found out that Hua Zhian would not be going to the countryside again and would have a job after the New Year. His conditions were not much worse than Jiang Yi's.

"Why go back? We're already here," Bai Ailian joined in knocking on the door. Today, she had to see Jiang Yi no matter what.

She was determined to wait for Jiang Yi today, and others shared the same thought. When they got together, some conflict was inevitable.

It's unclear who started it, but the initial shouting instantly turned into a brawl.

The commotion drew people out from several courtyards.

People crowded around, three or four deep, watching the women push and shove each other.

Tian Guihua arrived early and stood at the front with her daughter-in-law and granddaughter.

Seeing Bai Zhaodi caught in the middle, Tian Guihua, unusually kind, called out, "Old Bai, you're too old to get involved. There are fewer people here, so come out quickly."

Bai Zhaodi didn't want to leave, but at that moment, someone was pulling her hair, making it difficult for her to turn around.

Bai Ailian now felt that she was the one suffering and that no one else should have an easy time either, so she used both hands and feet to grab and kick.

But these women were not to be trifled with, and they were all sent back.

In this chaotic fight, no one dared to step forward to pull them apart, for fear of being accidentally drawn in.

Only a few more righteous people stood by and shouted, "Stop it, everyone stop!"

But these women were all blinded by rage, and several young girls were also drawn into the fight.

Fortunately, it's winter now, and everyone is wrapped in thick cotton-padded clothes, so even if someone's clothes are torn open, they won't be exposed.

This made the men who originally wanted to step forward hesitate; if they were to be held responsible, their families would be ruined.

Jiang Yi also heard the commotion outside and knew that if he didn't step forward, his reputation on this street would probably suffer.

He ruffled his hair, making it even messier, looking like he hadn't woken up yet, and opened the door.

The sudden opening of the Jiang family's gate stopped the fighting, but it only lasted for a moment before they resumed fighting.

"Gentlemen, what's going on here? Are you all fighting in front of my door?" Jiang Yi asked in a muffled voice.

When the onlookers saw Jiang Yi's appearance, they knew he had just been woken up and immediately felt that these people had gone too far, fighting in front of someone's house.

Jiang Yi thought these people would at least restrain themselves a bit, but unexpectedly a figure suddenly pounced on him. He quickly dodged to the side and saw a shadow rush into the courtyard. Immediately afterward, a thud was heard. Jiang Yi didn't even blink.

Zhou Xiaolan's mind was blank. She had just helped her mother block Bai Shuangmei's sneak attack. The only person standing behind her was Bai Ailian. How could she not distinguish right from wrong and push her to the ground?

The stinging pain in her palm made her cry out. When she looked up, she realized she was in the Jiang family's residence.

"If you have nothing else to do, get out of here," Jiang Yi said, his eyes flashing with displeasure at the scrutinizing look in the other man's eyes. This was his territory, and he didn't want anyone else stepping in.

Hua Xiangyun stood in the crowd and felt that Jiang Yi looked somewhat familiar, but she also felt that it was just a coincidence, since people can look alike.

She saw it more clearly than anyone else; the moment Jiang Yi opened the door and came out, Bai Ailian's eyes never left him.

Even when Zhou Xiaolan came to her rescue, she nimbly pushed him into her arms.

It was so close! If Jiang Yi hadn't been quick, he would have really pounced on him.

A man and a woman embracing in front of so many neighbors would certainly attract a lot of attention, and perhaps the Zhou family would become the perfect son-in-law that everyone was watching.

No wonder Zhou Xiaolan hasn't tried to get close to her second brother these days; it turns out she's been having the same idea as others.

However, it seems that this plan will fail. Hua Xiangyun took out a handful of pine nuts from her pocket. These were sent by her grandfather's old friends. Today is the New Year, and the old lady brought out a big plate of them. When she came out to watch the play, she casually grabbed two handfuls and put them in her pocket.

“The Jiang family’s son is really lucky,” Tian Guihua remarked, noticing that Bai Ailian was quite the schemer.

Hua Xiangyun said, "Grandma, it's not just one person plotting. Look at all these people fighting here, they must all have their own agendas, otherwise who would bother getting involved?"

Tian Guihua said, "These people only see the surface conditions and don't realize that Jiang Yi has been back for so many days and has kept his distance from everyone. Trying to get married like this will only cause others to feel disgusted."

"These girls are all so pretty, why do they have to lower themselves like that?"

Xun Liangfen glanced at her daughter. To be honest, she had the same thought when she first heard about Jiang Yi.
