Chapter 30 Going Home

Wu Chenxi said with a smile, "These are just some smokescreens. People come to search my place every few days. If I didn't cover it up, I wouldn't have been able to live so peacefully for so many years."

Tian Guihua curiously reached out and touched the door panel, stepping into the suddenly appeared room.

This room was different from their home; there was no heated kang (a traditional Chinese bed-stove), but instead, a set of canopy beds was placed upside down.

What surprised her even more was that the room wasn't cold at all; in fact, it was warmer than when she first came in.

Hua Xiangyun, however, preferred the dressing table in the room. She walked over and stood in front of the mirror, her clear features immediately appearing before her eyes.

This is much clearer than those celestial beings holding a small mirror the size of a palm.

"I'll bring you your bedding later. You can learn from me for a week first, and then come two days a week after that."

Hua Xiangyun looked at Tian Guihua expectantly, waiting for her to make a decision.

Tian Guihua knew there was no going back on this, so she said, "Master Wu is so kind. I'll bring some clothes for the child tomorrow."

This was considered an agreement, and Wu Chenxi breathed a sigh of relief.

They were led back to the main room. Xun Liangcai and the others, who were busy in the kitchen, were completely unaware of what had happened here and were cooking noodles.

When Tian Guihua saw Wu Chenxi leaning on his bamboo cane again, she was speechless. It turned out that they had been deceived all these years.

Hua Xiangyun's previous doubts dissipated. No wonder she always felt that her pulse was somewhat abnormal before; perhaps that was what her master wanted her to see.

These repeated methods only fueled Hua Xiangyun's curiosity about her master.

After finishing the plain noodles, Tian Guihua reluctantly led Xun Liangcai and the others back home.

Hua Xiangyun waited until he could no longer see his back before closing the door.

"Come here!" Unlike the previous aged voice, this voice was full of charm.

Hua Xiangyun felt something, but she was also stunned by the scene before her eyes. The original eighty-year-old woman had turned into a middle-aged beautiful woman.

Although she was over sixty, Wu Chenxi looked like a beautiful woman in her forties at first glance. She had fair skin and dignified features, which, in modern terms, would be the appearance of a mature woman.

"Now it's just the two of us, master and disciple, so I'll explain our sect rules to you in detail."

Hua Xiangyun: "...Master, didn't I say before that you had severed ties with the sect and had no further relationship with them?"

“It doesn’t matter anymore,” Wu Chenxi said, a hint of longing in her eyes. “You can treat it as a rule of my Wu family.”

Please refer to this book of rules and regulations and memorize them. My grandfather wrote them down one by one.

Hua Xiangyun respectfully accepted the bag with both hands and was about to look through it when Wu Chenxi tossed her a cloth bag. "I used the Qiankun Formation on this bag. It contains our sect's introductory manual. Take a good look at it these next few days, and come ask me if you don't understand anything."

Hua Xiangyun curiously took it in her hand and examined it from front to back. It seemed to have the same effect as the Qiankun Talisman that her master used to speak.

"Thank you, Master!"

Seeing that there were no outsiders present, Hua Xiangyun spoke without restraint, "Master, even if you change your name, there's no need to dress yourself up like before."

It's important to know that household registration management isn't that strict now; you can still register your household in any new place.

With Wu Chenxi's abilities, these things shouldn't be difficult to accomplish.

Wu Chenxi said, "I only revert to my original form when there are no outsiders around. Although my previous state was a bit ugly, it saved me a lot of trouble."

Next, and this is what I need to tell you, even if you achieve great things, you must learn to be humble.

"Never be greedy for fame and fortune, mislead the masses, or use tricks to indulge your desires..."

Hua Xiangyun memorized each and every one of the instructions. Before returning to her room, she asked curiously, "Master, will you also teach me this transformation technique?"

Wu Chenxi said, "...Let's lay a solid foundation first."

Everyone says that apprentices are afraid of their masters, but to her, this apprentice doesn't seem to be afraid of her at all, and is even a bit unruly...

Little did they know that Hua Xiangyun was slowly returning to her true nature. Before, in the Hua family, she was afraid of being seen through, so she always followed the original owner's lifestyle.

Now that she's left the Hua family, the burden that's been weighing on her shoulders these past few days seems to have been lifted, and Hua Xiangyun wants to slowly change and completely be herself again.

On their way home, the three of them were so focused on getting there that none of them had the energy to chat.

Once outside the compound, Tian Guihua stopped, took a deep breath, and then walked inside.

When she encountered people greeting her in the yard, she would absentmindedly give them a few perfunctory replies. Back in her own courtyard, the three of them stood there in silence.

"You're back," Hua Guangzong, who was cooking in the kitchen, poked his head out when he heard the noise. "Wait a little longer, I'll heat up two more dishes."

Tian Guihua sighed, then steeled herself and walked into the kitchen. "Is there anything else I can help with?"

"Just set out the bowls and chopsticks. I was lucky today; I went fishing with them and made Xiao Guai's favorite braised fish."

When they have free time, these old men either chat or go fishing in the nearby river, but they don't always have a good catch. Today, however, their luck has really improved, and they caught a fish weighing more than three pounds.

"I was really lucky today. Everyone else came back from the air force, but I was the only one who got this. They were all green with envy."

I made half of it; save the other half for when you make sauerkraut fish for Xiaoguai.

Tian Guihua, "...Xiao Guai will be staying outside for about a week..."

Hua Guangzong stopped what he was doing. "Weren't you taking them to see the sorceress? How come the child's uncle took them back..."

When he saw Xun Liangcai and the others peeking in through the doorway, he realized something was wrong. "Where did Xiao Guai go?"

Tian Guihua reluctantly told him about Wu Chenxi taking on apprentices.

"What kind of mess are you making?" Hua Zhongzong asked through gritted teeth in a low voice, "Are you trying to kill the child?"

Those vague and illusory things are just a smokescreen; you've taken them seriously.

Do you know anything about that sorceress? She just left the child there like that.

After taking off his apron, Hua Guangzong was about to walk out.

"Old Hua, where are you going?"

"What can I do? I'll go and pick the child up." This old woman is so unreliable. She just leaves her big granddaughter in a stranger's house like that.

“It’s already dark outside. Besides, we’ve known that witch for decades, and she’s even taken Xiao Guai as her apprentice. Wouldn’t it be offending to go to her door now?”

As Hua Guangzong stepped into the courtyard, Xun Liangcai and the others stopped him. "Uncle, don't worry. We were all there. That sorceress was really something."

If she's willing to teach Xiangyun, then let the child learn from her. At worst, we can just prevent her from touching it later.

Along the way of finding a good talent, I've also come to realize that if my child learns another skill, it doesn't necessarily mean they'll make a living from it in the future.

Besides, this auntie has already made an agreement with the other party. If she goes back on her word now and offends them again, it wouldn't be a good thing.

After all, they had never seen such methods before, and if they really turned against each other, they would not come out on top.
