Ni Jinfeng and Luo Xiaoman were unaware of her thoughts and didn't want to delve into them. Their primary task at school was to study. Gossiping occasionally was fine, but trying to climb up to someone was...
Just as they were each holding a book, ready to immerse themselves in the ocean of knowledge, they heard the lights-out horn. As they prepared to turn off the lights and go to sleep, a shrill scream suddenly rang out in the quiet night.
The three of them sat bolt upright at the same time. "What's going on?"
There was already noise outside the door, as if someone had rushed out with a flashlight.
"Why don't we go take a look? It seems to be about these few dormitory buildings." Luo Xiaoman licked her lips, feeling a little nervous.
Such a cry coming out in the middle of the night is definitely not a good sign.
“I have a flashlight here,” Ni Jinfeng said, already taking out a flashlight from under her pillow and turning it on. “What could possibly happen in the middle of the night?”
The three people, wearing clothes and shoes, walked out together, leaning on each other.
At that moment, noises came from downstairs, and everyone ran downstairs in the direction of the sound.
"What's going on here?" Following the flow of people to the dormitory building at the back, it was clear that most of the boarding students were there, packed in layers upon layers.
“There’s nothing strange about that. Sometimes when someone walks behind you and you turn a corner, their shadow is still inside. Maybe we just happened to look up and saw that kind of situation.” Luo Xiaoman also tucked the blanket in tightly, almost shrinking out of the blanket altogether. “Let’s go to sleep. We can talk about it tomorrow. Instead of guessing outside, let’s go ask them tomorrow to find out the truth.”
Those guys have such poor willpower; we made a ruckus all night, and not a single person from your dorm came out.
"Disperse, disperse, everyone disperse," the dormitory supervisor said, ending his scramble to clear out the students from the dormitory. "Is there anything wrong? Are you seeing things and scaring yourselves?"
If several people scream at the same time, it doesn't necessarily mean they're all seeing things at the same time. Do you think that's possible?
Those people are really cowardly, so timid.
The dorm manager just said that he was seeing things. He asked what could possibly make his eyes blurry?
That night we got along peacefully, but on the seventh day, when you went out to wash up with a basin, you heard some shocking news.
"Someone died in that dormitory building last night. Did they know?" Huang, a student from the next dormitory, squeezed next to you with a mysterious look on his face.
"Did he just say someone died?" Luo Xiaoman said mischievously. "That's not something you can joke about. Be careful, or the school leaders might come and talk to him."
"Should we go take another look?" Ni Jinfeng asked, rubbing her eyes.
"Knowing we just arrived too, and there are so many people in front of us, we can't squeeze through," a student in front of us kindly replied. "We're just waiting for news."
"Really?" Luo Xiaoman and the others stopped and looked at Huang. Although they still didn't quite believe it, their expressions were serious.
We just heard a scream, it sounded like it came from one person, or at most two.
"It's impossible that you'll lose sight of your surroundings if you read for too long." Luo Xiaoman yawned. If she had known there were so few people to keep the quiet, even if you went out, you would have found out everything and gotten cold.
That's right, you come to share the latest news with your friends early in the morning. If everyone in your dorm already knows about that topic and has been talking about it all night, it's a shame that no one gives you a chance to speak.
"Didn't they hear anything up ahead?" Huang found it incredible. Few people hadn't slept yesterday, yet those few were still involved.
Everyone in the family is deaf, how can they tell the difference?
"It's really tragic, a real tragedy. The family in front ran over and found these eight male students screaming..."
Finally noticing that all eight girls in the dorm were staring at him, Huang asked mysteriously, "What do you think happened?"
Those people are really something, still elementary school students, yet they're all so full of mischievous curiosity. The administrator was urging the students to finish class quickly, and so many of them were gathered together. What will happen when the school leaders arrive? We'll have a hard time explaining ourselves.
"You can't just joke around like that. If you believe him, go ask the other classmates." Huang scratched his head. Were those people out of their minds? Who would come here so early in the morning to spread rumors about us?
"This is the first time. There was another scream from ahead," Huang said with a look of regret. "There was another scream coming from ahead. We thought the other party was just causing trouble, so we walked over leisurely. Who knew that this time something really happened."
"Alright, let's go to sleep," Ruan Shichang said, wanting to continue the topic since it seemed unlucky to bring up that subject so late at night.
"They're all dead..." Ruan Shichang poured out the water and prepared to turn around and go back to his room. It was so early in the morning, and he was spreading such interesting rumors.
"Could he please not interrupt you?" Huang was taken aback by the men's serious demeanor. "One of the male students died in the shower room. School leaders came last night and reported the incident."
"What? You went to see the two girls afterwards? Did they send you all back?" Xie Yumeng rinsed her mouth and then used the thermos to mix warm water to wash her face.
In the dead of night, everyone is crammed here, not only concerned about what's happening, but also curious about what could be so terrible that could cause someone to scream so shrilly in the middle of the night.
He's capable of exaggerating and embellishing things, which will cause panic in the family.
"Why would he make that joke so early in the morning?" Luo Xiaoman rolled her eyes at you. "You all went to see it yesterday, did you say you were seeing things?"
We went out for a walk, but we still didn't understand what was going on. Luo Xiaoman and I were lying on the floor below the bed when we stopped talking about that topic.
Ni Jinfeng, however, was excitedly surprised, "No way, why sleep so slowly?"
Ni Jinfeng: "What else can you see in the middle of the night besides ghosts?"
"Go back to sleep, everyone. You don't have class early tomorrow morning."
"Is this ever going to end?" Xie Yumeng sat up impatiently and patted the bed. "You guys are sleeping, and so are we."
“Yes, we should go. It’s freezing cold inside. We don’t have time for that. It’s better to sleep less.” Luo Xiaoman turned over and covered her ears with her hands. “Go to sleep. Don’t be silly. If you catch a cold, you’ll have to buy medicine.”
"What could possibly go wrong in the middle of the night?" Ruan Shichang pulled the blanket tighter around himself; the problem was that the blankets were too warm, making the bed feel both hot and cold.
"How could you lie to him? You should trust them and carefully ask other classmates. You were wondering last night why you saw them, but they were so quiet, actually sleeping soundly outside the covers." Huang shook his head. Such a small noise, I really don't know how you guys fall asleep.
They had just drifted off to sleep when a scream rang out, startling all eight of them awake.
