"Did you mention to Comrade Xie that you wanted to date her?" Hua Zhiping was itching to get involved. Wasn't this just causing trouble for someone?

Zhi'an has been back for so long, but he hasn't mentioned it at all. On the other hand, he's still communicating with people and keeping them hanging on. This kind of behavior has disappointed Hua Zhiping, not to mention the two elders who are even more disappointed.

Hua Zhian felt a little guilty. He had indeed vaguely mentioned it, but he had been back for so long that both sides were consciously avoiding bringing up the issue again.

"I remember you didn't have your luggage sent back, did you?" Hua Zhiping looked at Zhi'an inquisitively. "Didn't you tell her that you had started working here and wouldn't be going back?"

Hua Zhian immediately became anxious, "Of course I told her, do you think I'm that kind of person?"

Tian Guihua and the others, "..." It looks like...

“I didn’t ask for those things back, but I’ve already sent a letter asking her to help give them to other people in the village who need them,” Hua Zhian quickly explained. “You know I didn’t have many things in the past, just some bedding, clothes, and some daily necessities. If I were to mail them back, the postage would be a lot.”

Some people in the village were really struggling, so I didn't ask them to do anything and just entrusted them to distribute the belongings.

The main reason was that his family didn't really need these things, and Hua Zhian just wanted to help others, but he really didn't deceive anyone.

Tian Guihua and the others breathed a sigh of relief; at least it wasn't beyond saving.

"Since you have no feelings for her, just gradually cut off all communication," Hua Guangzong knew all too well the boy's flaws, nothing more than a little bit of dark psychology in his heart.

“You two communicate so frequently, the locals can’t possibly be unaware. If you have no intention of marrying her, aren’t you just ruining a perfectly good girl?”

"Write her a letter later and tell her you're getting married, and it won't be appropriate to correspond anymore." A girl's prime years are fleeting; don't let this brat ruin them.

He also had children of his own. If Xiangyun were treated like that, Hua Guangzong might just carry his sword and fight to the death.

Hua Zhian hesitated for a moment, but Tian Guihua slapped him hard, "Your grandfather is talking to you, did you hear him?"

If you have no feelings for others, then stop associating with them.

But if you really like the other person, your grandfather and I won't be the bad guys. Anyway, you'll be living your own life from now on.

Don't let things not go your way later, and then treat us like the bad guys.

Tian Guihua laid out the unpleasant truth upfront, thinking that she would wait until he had thought things through and sorted things out before introducing him to a potential partner; otherwise, wouldn't that be harming someone else's child?

Hua Zhian quickly agreed. He truly regarded Xie Lanqiao as a younger sister and a close friend. Now that he knew how much harm she had caused, he naturally dared not believe her anymore.

Li Lijuan sat in the room, touching her belly. Zhiping and Xiangyun were both good siblings. Zhian's personality was more like that of her in-laws. Fortunately, the colleague she mentioned before didn't work out, otherwise she would have been blamed a lot in the future.

As expected, her parents were right. Being a matchmaker isn't easy. She should just stick to her regular job and not get involved in these things anymore.

Hua Zhian promised to date the woman in the countryside, but then abandoned her immediately because he could return to the city.

Li Lijuan didn't comment on his actions, but she did draw a line in her mind regarding Hua Zhian, thinking it best to stay out of his business in the future.

The Hua family did want to visit Hua Xiangyun at the end of the county, but she left early and returned late, so the two sides could not meet.

Hua Guangzong offered to go, but his family was worried.

Hua Zhian finally had a day off, so he rode his bicycle and took Hua Guangzong to Qianjin Village.

When they saw strangers riding bicycles into the village, the village children ran after them.

They knew they were there to visit the educated youth; other educated youth from the village had also had family members come before.

When Hua Guangzong saw his granddaughter working in the fields under the scorching sun, his eyes welled up with tears.

Hua Zhian also felt a little bitter. He had suffered such hardship before, but because of his selfishness, his sister had to suffer it.

After parking his bicycle, Hua Zhian strode into the field, took the hoe from Hua Xiangyun, and said, "I'll do the rest."

Those working nearby all turned to look at the commotion, wondering who this diligent young man was.

“That’s Xiangyun’s second brother,” Wu Yanxin, as someone in the know, naturally had to explain, “Grandpa Hua and Hua’s second brother came to see her.”

Family members came over; they had all been there before, but this was the first time for Hua Xiangyun's family.

Hua Xiangyun ran towards the old man standing by the roadside, her smile a smile they had never seen before—a genuine joy from the bottom of her heart.

"Alright, everyone hurry up and get to work," Li Mingli glanced at the scene and thought there was nothing to see. Even if family members came, they would still have to work. They were already late today, and if they didn't hurry up, they wouldn't be able to go home with everyone else.

However, she did take a few more glances at Hua Zhian. She was surprised to find that Hua Xiangyun's second brother was quite capable in his work, and his speed was almost on par with the village's veterans.

"Grandpa, why did you come here? Didn't we agree that this road is terrible? Don't make this trip back and forth."

Hua Guangzong looked at his granddaughter, who seemed to have gained weight, but he couldn't bring himself to say "you've lost weight."

"How are you doing? Are you settling in? If you're too tired, just take a break. We're not short of work points." Hua Guangzong looked around and, seeing that no one was around, whispered.

“Just consider it exercise,” Hua Xiangyun said, preparing to take him for a walk around the village. “Besides, you know, this level of physical exertion is nothing to me.”

How is everything at home?

“Everything is fine,” Hua Guangzong said, bringing the bag in his hand to the front. “Your sister-in-law brought you some food, and your grandmother also prepared some.”

Seeing the bag full, Hua Xiangyun quickly took it, saying, "Didn't I tell you, I don't lack anything here? I can't possibly eat all this stuff by myself."

Hua Guangzong said, "There's no such thing as an endless supply of food. You still have your master, don't you?"

“My master has gone out,” Hua Xiangyun said, not mentioning it to her family. “He won’t be back for a while.”

"So you live alone at the end of the county?" Hua Guangzong frowned upon hearing this. "Why don't you have your grandmother stay with you for a while?"

Hua Xiangyun quickly shook her head and said, "Don't let Grandma go through all that trouble. I can manage on my own."

Besides, I eat lunch here every day, and it's a long time before I get back at night, so I can take my time and do my work at my own pace.
