Chapter Fifty-Two: Lin Xubo, the Lazy and Delicious

Seeing Lin Xubo bowing and scraping before me, I realized that this was simply not acceptable.

At the company, Lin Xubo is the one who bullies us lower-level employees the most.

Even after being stranded on this deserted island, he is still so relentless. How can we let him suffer a bit and easily turn the page on this?

"Did Manager Lin come here today to sincerely apologize, or is he up to something else?"

I looked at Lin Xubo with a smile on his lips, and I had already thought of a way to make him feel bad.

Wang Ping looked at Lin Xubo and quickly winked at him.

Lin Xubo then looked at me and repeated it once again.

"Zhao Sihai, I was really wrong. Killing someone is one thing, but it's another. I've already apologized to you. I hope you can forgive and forget about it."

Even when Lin Xubo came over to apologize, he still had that arrogant attitude.

"Since you've really come here to apologize, I'll give you a chance to redeem yourself. Do you want it or not?"

Before Lin Xubo could speak, Wang Ping, who was standing next to him, had already nodded on his behalf.

"He can do it if you don't pursue it any further."

Lin Xubo didn't say anything, so I took it as a yes.

Lin Xubo had removed the tattered clothes from his head, but a scar remained on his forehead.

It already looked like a pig's head, and now that the pig's head is disfigured, it's even uglier.

"We're all colleagues in the same company, and I can't just stand by and watch you go hungry. Your attitude in apologizing today was still a bit off, but I'll accept it with a grain of salt. Since there's nothing else, I'll be leaving now."

I was counting down in my head, but before I could even get to two, Wang Ping suddenly called out to me from behind.

I knew they must have run into some trouble to come and apologize to me so simply, but judging from their appearance, their biggest problem right now must be not having enough to eat.

"Sihai, what we mean is, could you trade us some more food? We only have a few clothes left. How much food do you think we can get for these clothes?"

I looked at the clothes Wang Ping and the others were wearing; they were already tattered and torn from traversing the jungle.

Besides, we found quite a few clothes on that ghost ship that had docked at the shore. Although the clothes were all men's, they were still acceptable for the girls, so their clothes were no longer very important to me.

But since they came to me, of course I wouldn't refuse.

Besides, I had already decided what I wanted them to do for me.

Since they want food and I need it, isn't this a win-win situation?

"Since Manager Wang has said so, I can't refuse. However, as I said last time, if you want to buy medicine from me for free, you can't go anywhere else. I have a solution, but I don't know if you will agree."

Wang Ping nodded quickly: "As long as it's within our capabilities, of course we agree."

Lin Xubo was tugged at by Wang Ping and nodded.

"Here's what we're going to do. We need a lot of firewood in our cave every day, but it's been raining heavily these past few days, and many branches in the forest are soaked. We're almost out of fuel. I think we could trade one bundle of firewood for two dried fish, three bundles for a basket of fruit or canned meat, and for five bundles I could give you a piece of meat. What do you think of this?"

Wang Ping frowned and pondered for a moment, then nodded. Before he could speak, Lin Xubo sneered, "Hmph! What do you mean? You think you can enslave us with just two dried fish?"

"No, no, no! I'm not trying to enslave you. I've already stated my conditions. If any of you can bring over a tree branch, you can go to my cave to exchange it for dried fish. I have very little dried fish and meat, so it's first come, first served. You can decide for yourselves."

After saying that, I turned around and went back to the cave.

I was confident that Lin Xubo and his group wouldn't be able to catch any fish at all. They were just blindly groping in the sea with their scissor-cut branches, and they wouldn't be able to catch even two.

However, there are too many people there, and the seashells and crabs that the waves bring up are not enough to feed them.

I couldn't bear to watch them starve to death, but if I shared the food I had risked my life to get with them, they would think it was too easy for them.

This will inevitably make them develop a mentality of depending on me, or even trying to conquer me.

Why don't I set conditions to make them work for me? That way, I can kill two birds with one stone and everyone can get what they need.

When I returned to the cave, Xiao Qiang and Liu Jiaojiao went to the top of the mountain to fetch water and also fed the two short-legged birds.

The short-legged birds have been laying eggs these past few days, and we've fed them most of the seashells we caught at the beach.

Wang Xiaoxiao is cooking inside the cave.

Xu Wei sat on the straw bed, looking at her legs.

Several bruises were visible on her slender legs.

The hay in the cave was already a bit damp, and after we'd been sleeping there for days, the licorice was no longer fluffy.

The women, with their delicate skin, slept on grass beds. Occasionally, when they turned over, they would bump into the raft that was propped up by branches on the ground.

I moved closer to Xu Wei, whose face was slightly flushed as she pulled down her pants and sighed softly.

"You two don't need to rush. In a few days, we'll clean up the cave again and nail together the planks we took from the ship to make a new bed."

"That would be too much trouble. It's fine, we already have bedding, so we'll just make do with it."

Xu Wei smiled slightly at me, which made me feel even more at ease.

“We’ll have enough manpower soon. Before, when we were at the company, we were bossed around by Lin Xubo and Bai Wei. Now it’ll be your turn to experience what it’s like to be the boss. We’ll let them find the hay, and you won’t have to come out and work hard with me anymore.”

Upon hearing this, Xu Wei's eyes lit up with surprise, but then she became somewhat worried: "How could they possibly work for us? I'd be grateful if they just didn't come here in the middle of the night to fight us."

Wang Xiaoxiao cut the dried fish into pieces and put them into the pot that had already boiled. She turned to look at me and frowned.

"I saw you staying there talking to Wang Ping and the others. Did they agree to work for you?"

I told Wang Xiaoxiao and the others the conditions I had discussed with Wang Ping.

Wang Xiaoxiao's brows immediately relaxed: "I think this is a good idea!"

At noon, we had a fish soup hot pot with lots of wild vegetables in it, and we also dug up two cans of meat. The soup was delicious, and we all ate until we were stuffed before lying down on the straw beds.

Knowing that Lin Xubo and the others were at the bottom of the cave, I couldn't sleep very soundly. In my half-asleep state, I heard someone calling my name from below the cave.

I put on my shoes, stood up, and stood at the cave entrance. I saw Wang Ping waving a tree branch at me and telling me to go down the mountain.

Wang Xiaoxiao woke up at this moment, took a dagger and came down the mountain with me.

Wang Ping had three bundles of firewood in front of him, and Chen Jian behind him also had three bundles of firewood. The other women in their group each had a bundle in front of them, but Lin Xubo was nowhere to be seen.

I couldn't help but chuckle to myself. Was Lin Xubo really waiting to reap the benefits? Well, this time his dream was about to be shattered.
