Chapter Fifty-One: Bowing One's Head

After Wang Ping and the other person left, Xiao Qiang frowned and came out of the partition, shaking her head as she watched their backs.

“You are too kind. You helped them this time, but the next time they have nothing to eat, they will come back to you. They will be like maggots that cling to your bones and you can’t get rid of them.”

Wang Xiaoxiao nodded in agreement, and the two of them surprisingly agreed on the same point.

“Bai Wei is an insatiable person. You fed them well this time and treated them with medicine, but when they recover next time, they will probably come back to make things difficult for us. You really should have reconsidered.”

The women were terrified and naturally didn't have a good impression of Bai Wei.

I know that, of course, but I have my own standards.

Firstly, we have no one else on this island to rely on.

Although Bai Wei and his group aren't exactly good people, having them around to cause trouble from time to time keeps life from getting too boring.

Secondly, I'm not sure if there are cannibals on this deserted island. If there are, and we manage to gather Bai Wei and his group, we won't be at too much of a disadvantage.

So we can't let them die yet...

The heavy rain continued for five days. On the sixth day, when the sky finally began to clear, the women couldn't stand it any longer. They came out of the cave to take a bath, sunbathe, and go to the beach to collect seashells. They were busy having a great time.

When we went to the beach, we discovered that there were actually people inside the boat that we had dismantled.

Lin Xubo and the others really did come here to take shelter from the rain.

But since the ship is useless anyway, what difference would it make if we gave it to them?

I pretended not to see anything and, along with a few women, picked up some seafood. Surprisingly, we even found a few abalone and sea cucumbers. Just as we were about to return to the cave, Wang Ping stood on the deck and pulled Lin Xubo, seemingly saying something.

I remember that when Wang Ping and the other man left with their things that day, they said they wanted Lin Xubo to come and apologize to me.

But given Lin Xubo's despicable character, how could he possibly bow down to me so easily?

I ignored them and turned to walk towards the cave with the women.

Just as I reached the foot of the mountain, I suddenly heard Wang Ping call my name.

Turning around, I saw Lin Xubo standing behind Wang Ping, looking at me with hatred in his eyes, his head completely covered by a tattered piece of clothing.

The stone Wang Xiaoxiao used to hit him that day must have really given him a lot to worry about.

“I called Lin Xubo over and asked him to apologize to you. As for how you want to deal with him, that’s up to you. But don’t hurt him. He still feels dizzy and nauseous from the stone that Accountant Wang hit him with last time. A small punishment should be enough to teach him a lesson.”

I looked at Wang Ping and sneered, "Do you need to teach me that?"

Wang Ping paused, somewhat embarrassed, and turned away.

Lin Xubo stood there looking at me, his face still showing resentment.

"Oh dear, Manager Lin, you don't look like you're here to apologize. I remember when we were in the company, you often told us in meetings that admitting mistakes should look like you're admitting mistakes. You're standing so straight, and your expression is so disdainful. I really can't accept it."

"Zhao Sihai, don't you dare be so shameless! What, you think you can ride roughshod over me just because you've got your own tricks up your sleeve and act all high and mighty on this island? Let me tell you, you can't! Wang Ping is just a damn dog. You give him a little food and he'll wag his tail at you, but don't even think about using the same tricks on me. You won't get the chance!"

Lin Xubo wasn't holding back at all when he was talking to me.

After all, how could he possibly apologize to me, a security guard, in front of so many of his former colleagues?

I know he must still hold a grudge about the day I hit him and Wang Xiaoxiao threw a rock at him.

I chuckled at Lin Xubo: "Since Manager Lin thinks you're right, then I suggest you go somewhere cool and stay there. I'm about to start cooking, so please stay away and don't let yourself smell the cooking fumes, or you'll feel nauseous."

After saying that, I picked up the things I had gathered and went up the mountain. I stood at the entrance of the cave and watched Lin Xubo return to the boat, where he seemed to have had an argument with Wang Ping.

I chuckled to myself. I was sure that within three days, Lin Xubo would come begging to me like a dog.

Wang Xiaoxiao and the others had already started preparing the meal. They had cut up the abalone, some shellfish, and sea cucumbers they had picked up, then put them in the pot with a little rice. The aroma quickly wafted out.

I was in a good mood, so I took out the wine I had found on the ship that day, opened a bottle of this aged wine, and it tasted really quite good.

The women were all happy, each drinking a small bottle capful. The aroma of the food from inside the cave wafted down towards the entrance; I don't know if the people below the boat smelled it, but I was very content.

After we finished eating, we went down the mountain to collect some branches. However, this time when we left, we left one person behind to watch the cave.

I handed the gun to Liu Jiaojiao and told her that if anyone tried to force their way in, she should fire a shot into the air. Anyone who was afraid of dying would not dare to fight back.

When we hear the commotion and come back to help, they'll be in deep trouble just the same way.

We gathered some branches and laid them all out at the cave entrance to dry. We ate and drank well inside the cave, but Lin Xubo and the others were always hungry down the mountain.

In the afternoon, I saw several women picking up seashells by the rocks.

Bai Wei and Lin Xubo did not show up; they're probably hiding somewhere again, pretending to be big shots.

This situation continued for two more days, and on the afternoon of the third day, Wang Ping indeed brought Lin Xubo back again.

However, this time Lin Xubo was not as tough as before. When he saw me, he bowed down and apologized to me word by word.

"Zhao Sihai, I'm sorry. I was wrong about what happened before. Please forgive me."

I chuckled to myself, thinking that they must be starving again, which was why they came to me to exchange food.

However, seeing Lin Xubo and me bowing and scraping like this, I couldn't help but feel excited.

But after the initial excitement, I realized that they couldn't always rely on me to support them. It's better to teach them how to fish than to give them fish. It seems I need to teach them some ways to survive so that things can be more peaceful and stable between us.

But before that, I need to put an end to Lin Xubo's arrogance.

Let him know that looking down on me and repeatedly provoking me will not end well.
