Chapter 13 Arrival at the City

Li Fu was also smart and soon started hawking his wares.

They set up a stall at the ferry. The sun was shining brightly and people were coming and going. Most of the people who came to the ferry were wealthy merchants, and they were willing to pay for the ice when they saw it.

As the fiery red sun rose higher and higher, the business at the ferry market reached its peak, and the enthusiastic calls of vendors could be heard everywhere on the street.

Lin Mo weighed the silver in his hand, threw it into the bag, and smiled so hard that his mouth couldn't close.

"I'll go to the restaurant you mentioned and you can sell your goods here first. After you're done, you can pack up and go to the inn to wait for me." As he said this, he took the two taels of silver he had bought this morning and went to the restaurant.

Feeling the silver in his arms, Lin Mo laughed out loud, knowing that this place was a good place to make money. It was the first time he had earned so much money in all the time he had been in this world. One bucket was estimated to be about fifty bowls. At this rate, he could probably make four or five taels of cash a day, and with such a low cost, it was basically pure profit.

Lin Mo walked and stopped on the street, and would touch and look at rare things when he saw them. The prices in the capital city were expensive, and he had finally managed to save some money, and he didn't see anything that he liked, so he didn't buy anything.

The prosperity here made him inexplicably excited. There were no modern lights, wine, women, and traffic, just ordinary blue bricks and stone tiles. It was less gorgeous than in TV dramas and more simple. The overall structure was not much different from what was shown on TV.

Xinrui Restaurant. Lin Mo looked at the restaurant in front of him and couldn't help but sigh at the wisdom of the ancients. Even without steel bars and cement, they were able to build such a solid and beautiful house, and it was a three-story building at that.

This hotel is the largest hotel in the city. Lin Mo is not sure whether it is the largest or not, but he only knows that its business is the hottest.

The magnificent three-story building is located in the most crowded place. In addition to wealthy gentry and children of officials, those who go in here are also merchants. At the very least, they are local landlords, and anyone you pick is a wealthy tycoon.

Moreover, this location is quite close to the ferry, so most merchants who come from far away to trade will stay and dine here. This alone is difficult to match with other restaurants.

"Sir, please come in. Would you like to have a quick meal or stay the night?"

When the waiter saw Lin Mo, there was a look of confusion in his eyes, and then he immediately came over with an exceptionally bright smile.

Lin Mo remained calm, but he was a little surprised in his heart. He was still wearing the patched clothes he wore when he left Maolin Village, and looked even more shabby than the ordinary pedestrians on the road. He thought he would be turned away, but he didn't expect the waiter to be so nice. No wonder the restaurant had grown so big.

"Waiter, I want to discuss business with your boss. I hope you can introduce me." Lin Mo saluted with the demeanor of a scholar, and some people in the store looked over.

The people sitting in this restaurant were all noble men and rich ladies, all dressed in silk and satin. Even the waiters were dressed in fine materials. But when Lin Mo came in, dressed in coarse cloth, he immediately looked out of place and stood out from the crowd. Naturally, everyone thought that Lin Mo was a poor scholar who had fallen on hard times.

The waiter smiled and swiftly ushered Lin Mo in, finding a seat for him to sit down. "Sir, please wait a moment. I'll call the shopkeeper."

Lin Mo nodded and smiled in agreement. He had a very good impression of the waiter.

After a while, a wealthy and plump old man with a beard came out. He was dressed in silk and satin, which immediately formed a sharp contrast with Lin Mo's coarse linen clothes.

He frowned and looked Lin Mo up and down, his eyes full of confusion. Why would such a poor scholar come to him? "Sir, I am the owner of Xinrui Tower. What do you want from me?"

Lin Mo stood up and bowed. The man opposite him had been in a high position for a long time, so his tone and attitude were inevitably arrogant. However, seeing that the other party had no ill intentions, he did not care much. He just took out the bamboo tube in his hand and said, "I am Lin Mo. I have some drinks that I have researched and I would like to cooperate with your restaurant."

The shopkeeper glanced suspiciously at the bamboo tube in Lin Mo's hand. The man in front of him didn't look very old. Although he was tall, his face was very young. However, his eyes were deep and his attitude was calm. He didn't look like an ordinary person.

He nodded and said, "My surname is Li. Mr. Lin, please follow me upstairs. We can discuss it in detail upstairs."

Lin Mo patted the waiter's body in gratitude, and followed the shopkeeper Li to an elegant room on the second floor. Putting down the bamboo tube in his hand, Lin Mo clasped his fists and bowed to the shopkeeper. There was always a faint smile on his thin and handsome face. There was no deliberate flattery, nor was there any excessive rudeness.

The shopkeeper secretly observed Lin Mo's actions. He was very satisfied with Lin Mo's modesty and said with a smile: "Mr. Lin, what business do you have? Why not tell me about it?"

"Shopkeeper Li, you're too polite. I won't keep you in suspense. I have a novel delicacy that's perfect for hot summer days. I wonder if you're interested."

"Huh? Master Lin should know that most of the people who come to my Xinrui Restaurant are people of status. It's hard to afford ordinary country food. Everything I serve must be of top quality."

The shopkeeper raised his eyebrows slightly, not to insult Lin Mo, but because he was worried that what Lin Mo brought out was too mediocre.

They don't just have this restaurant; they have branches all over the country. With such a huge fortune, they naturally won't sell mediocre little things. Every dish must be delicious and tasty.

"I understand all of this, boss. Why don't you try the drink in this bamboo tube? Please let me know if it suits you.

Lin Mo smiled slightly, quite confident. What attracted him was that the restaurant was big enough and the food was expensive and luxurious enough. Otherwise, ordinary small shops would not have ice cubes. Without ice cubes, he would have nowhere to sell his jam recipe.

Shopkeeper Li opened the stopper covering the bamboo tube, and a cool breeze immediately hit his face, and a sweet scent filled his nostrils. He looked at the three small bamboo tubes, one was reddish in color and looked mouth-watering, one was milky white in color, giving people an inexplicable attraction, and the last one was blood-red in color, looking very glaring, just like blood.

The shopkeeper drank a mouthful of sour plum juice eagerly. The sour, sweet and cool taste suddenly rushed into his mouth. The stuffy summer seemed to cool down in an instant, making him feel refreshed.

He hurriedly took a sip of the blood-red jam drink, which was sweeter and made him like it even more. After drinking the milk tea drink, he was completely conquered by the sweet but not greasy coolness. These three drinks will undoubtedly make Xinrui Restaurant a lot of money this summer.
