The days passed one by one, and soon the Spring Festival arrived again.
This year's Spring Festival is the most lively one for the Lin family in all these years.
Han Zhi also followed Lin Sheng back to Maolin Village in advance to celebrate the New Year. On New Year's Eve, Su Mu and Lin Mo were pasting Spring Festival couplets, while Lin Wen and Tang Jie were pasting red paper on the windows.
Han Zhi and Ming Fan helped hang lanterns, while Lin Sheng prepared incense for worshiping the gods.
Lao Gu's family of three were also helping out on the side. Lin Wu and Su Yunxia were busy with garlic. The whole family was together.
Once the Spring Festival couplets are posted and firecrackers are set off, most of the New Year's Eve is over. The village is much more lively than usual at night. Children who have new clothes put them on and walk around the village to show their new clothes to the adults.
The reunion dinner that night was also extremely sumptuous, with each dish having its own meaning. Chicken, duck, and fish are essential dishes on the festive table, and on New Year's Eve, some leftovers are kept to symbolize abundance every year.
After the reunion dinner, everyone took a walk in the village to digest the food and chatted with everyone they met.
After strolling around, they went to bed early again. They will have to get up early tomorrow to celebrate the New Year.
When it was still dawn, Lin Sheng woke up everyone in the house and they went to worship the gods.
One person carried a basket filled with tribute, one person helped to hold tea, and one person held gold ingots, candles and incense. After the sound of firecrackers, a huge team set off towards the ancestral hall.
After about half an hour, they finally finished their work.
It was still early when they returned to the house. Lu Amo and the others had prepared breakfast. After breakfast, Su Mu and Lin Sheng took out the fruit biscuits, put them on an exquisite plate, and placed them on the table to wait for the guests to come and give them to them.
Coming back from worshipping the gods means you can come to that family's house to ask for red envelopes.
From far away in the village, one could hear the cheers and noises of a group of children. This large group was heading towards the Lin family.
Children came in groups to ask for red envelopes. According to the local customs, only married people need to give red envelopes, and those who are not married do not need to.
When the children received the red envelopes, they were all very happy. Lin Sheng even asked them to take more Tang Shuo biscuits to eat.
This was the first time the Lin family had a good New Year in the village.
The days always passed quietly, and soon it was the Lantern Festival again.
Lin Sheng and his family had never been to a lantern festival before, so Han Zhi made careful preparations that night and took Lin Sheng and his family to visit the Lantern Festival. Lin Wu also came along.
On the bustling streets, Lin Sheng found everything he saw curious. Lin Mo, on the other hand, held Su Mu's hand, watching him quietly as he shopped, and even bought him a rabbit lantern.
When Han Zhi saw Su Mu holding a lantern, he wanted to get one for Lin Sheng as well, but Lin Sheng refused.
Later, Han Zhi took Lin Sheng and the others to the city wall and prepared some Kongming lanterns for Lin Sheng and his family, on which they could write their own blessings.
Lin Sheng wrote "family happiness and well-being" on the Kongming lantern, while Lin Mo and Su Mu wrote the four words "white hair in this world".
Lin Wu's writing was even funnier: marrying a rich woman, which made everyone laugh.
The Kongming lantern in his hand slowly rose up, and in an instant, a flock of Kongming lanterns filled the sky.
Lin Sheng looked up and saw the same words written on each of the Kongming lanterns - Lin Sheng, marry me.
On thousands of Kongming lanterns were Han Zhi’s true feelings that he wanted to say to Lin Sheng.
Lin Sheng was deeply moved by the scene, and his eyes became inexplicably moist. Han Zhi hugged him in his arms, and the two of them hugged each other tightly under the sky full of lights.
After the Lantern Festival, Mingfan and Lan Ting’s wedding was soon held.
Mrs. Han and Mr. Han held back their tears and saw Mingfan off. The huge procession became a beautiful scenery on the street.
From then on, Mingfan became the son-in-law of the Lan family.
In the days that followed, Han Zhi and Ming Fan rarely saw each other.
Thinking of their last meeting that day, Ming Fan gently bumped Han Zhi's chest with his fist and said with a gentle smile: "Cousin, I really thank you for picking me up from that small mountain village.
You have always protected me since I was a child. Whenever I was bullied outside, you were always the first one to rush up and beat up those who bullied me one by one, and asked them to apologize to me. I will never forget that scene, and it is still vivid in my memory.
This is all I can do for you. Consider it my way of repaying you for all the kindness you've shown me over the years."
After this departure, I’m afraid it will be difficult to see each other again after many years.
Not long after this, Lin Sheng married Han Zhi.
That day, Han Zhi led a team and set out from the town. After several hours, they finally arrived at Maolin Village. The Lin family was filled with the sound of firecrackers.
Han Zhi brought a sedan chair carried by eight people to marry Lin Sheng. That night, the Han Mansion set off a dazzling array of fireworks that were rarely seen in the entire Qingshui Town.
Su Mu leaned on Lin Mo's shoulder and watched this scene, and everyone felt emotional in their hearts that their eldest brother had also met his true love and had a good home.
The Han family had a wedding, and the banquet lasted for three days, with countless guests.
Not long after Han Zhi and Lin Sheng got married, Ming Fan went to Beijing alone to take the exam for the martial arts champion.
When Han Zhi answered Lin Sheng's words, his voice gradually became low and he seemed a little lost. When talking about Ming Fan, he always felt reluctant to part with his younger brother.
"Afan went in my place."
There was compassion in Han Zhi's tone, as if he had expected it but was unable to stop it.
Lin Sheng also knew what his words meant. They might never see each other again.
