Chapter 3: Always Thinking About It

The dispersed villagers were all discussing how miserable Lin Mo was, and how miserable the Lin family was. An old man was unwanted by everyone, a fool could do nothing, a sick and disabled man had his engagement broken off, and now in the Lin family, only Lin Wu was left who was considered normal.

It was a small adobe house, and even after everyone had left, dust was still flying in the air.

Lin Mo took a deep breath, intending to relax, but he choked on the dust and started to cry. His neck felt hot from coughing, and his entire back felt like it was piercing his bones. Lin Wen also followed him out, so he couldn't even drink some water.

A shadow suddenly blocked his sunlight. Lin Mo raised his head slightly and the familiar small bowl with a notch was handed to him. Lin Mo did not care about anything else and hurriedly took the bowl and took several big gulps.

"What's your name?" Lin Mo looked at the person in front of him, who was the young man who had been keeping his head down.

He was wearing a grey linen shirt with many patches of different colours sewn on it, and a yellowed cloth tied around his waist. His dark deer eyes were emotionless, and his facial features were surprisingly handsome, though he was a little tanned and skinny.

Seeing that he stopped coughing, Su Mu did not answer. He took the bowl with an expressionless face, glanced at him, and turned away.

He hadn't intended to come in at first. He was going up the mountain to chop firewood today, but just as he left the house, Su Yun dragged him to the Lin family. He had just broken off the engagement, and now she sent him up the mountain to chop firewood again.

When I walked past the Lin family's door, I heard Lin Mo coughing so badly. Thinking that there was no one inside, I was worried that something might have happened to Lin Mo, so I had to come in to check.

Lin Mo stared blankly at the door, feeling his heart beating faster. The boy's appearance, personality, and the way he ignored him were exactly to his liking!

Just with that one glance, Lin Mo felt his whole body getting hot, and he couldn't take his eyes off him. He couldn't help but think that in his previous life, he had lived for decades without meeting anyone he liked, but who would have thought that in this different world, he would be attracted by a country boy.

He repeatedly searched for the person in the original owner's memory in his mind, but there was no information at all. It seemed that the original owner had never seen him.

Since he is here, he might as well make the best of it. He was originally thinking about how to plan for the future, but now he is not in a hurry. Lin Mo knows himself very well. He is interested in that boy. It is love at first sight, so there is no way he will miss him. Thinking of the boy's cold face, he feels even more attracted.

"Amo, what are you laughing at?" Lin Sheng walked in and saw Lin Mo's silly grin. She was worried that he wouldn't be able to accept the broken engagement, but now she felt a little strange.

Didn't Ah Mo like Su Yunqiu very much before? Why is he so happy after breaking off the engagement?

"Brother," Lin Mo smiled awkwardly, "Has the contract been destroyed?"

Lin Sheng nodded, his face dry and his voice choked with sobs: "With our family in this state, we really shouldn't have dragged Su Yunqiu along. I heard her mother has already found someone in town. I just feel sorry for you. I'm afraid it will be even more difficult for you to find a wife in the future."

Maybe you won’t even find it later...

"Don't worry, big brother. Wait until I recover and save some money. I'm not afraid that no one will be unwilling to do it."

"Amo is right. Fortunately, Awu is out helping out today. Otherwise, given his personality, he would probably have started a fight with Su Yunshi."

Lin Mo nodded. Lin Wu had been helping others with work these days, going out early and coming back late, like a little spinning top, never stopping all day. Thinking of his small body, Lin Mo felt distressed. He was the only one in the family who could go out to work. As his eldest brother was a young man, it was not easy for him to show up in public, so Lin Wu had to suffer.

Although he is the youngest in the family, he has become the pillar of the family at such a young age.

"When I recover, I will earn money to support you. Thank you for your hard work during this period."

Lin Sheng chuckled softly, feeling that his brother had changed quite a bit. In the past, Lin Mo would never have spoken like this. "Big brother knows, you should rest well. Now that you have such insights, big brother is very relieved."

"Okay." Lin Mo stopped talking. The original owner was a cowardly, self-deprecating, and timid person. He would never say such words. He didn't talk much at home. It would not be good for him to change too much all of a sudden. He could only change subtly.

In the evening, Lin Mo drank a bowl of porridge and ate some wild vegetable porridge. The day passed and Lin Wu returned home in the evening.

Lin Mo was in a daze and could only hear the sound of Lin Wu sobbing.

"Brother, I feel so sad. I can't live like this anymore." Lin Wu covered his arms and squatted in the corner, his eyes swollen like walnuts.

He had an argument with the manager at work today, and to his surprise, half of his wages were deducted. He was angry and aggrieved, but he didn't dare to make a fuss anymore, lest he lose the remaining half.

"Xiao Wu, big brother knows you feel wronged. Let's not go tomorrow." Lin Sheng comforted him gently, but his eyes were already filled with tears and his voice was very hoarse.

"Brother, don't cry. I was just angry for a moment. Third brother's engagement was broken off by the Su family again today. I felt bad, so I complained to you." Lin Wu said in a muffled voice. He was obviously so aggrieved that he cried just now, but now he turned into a little man and comforted Lin Sheng.

Hearing this, Lin Mo felt a little sorry for the young boy. Lin Wu was the youngest child in the family. In other families, the youngest child was the most favored, but not Lin Wu.

The eldest brother Lin Sheng is a bro, and in this world bros have a very low status. Even if they are willing to show their faces and go out to find a job, no one would want them.

Lin Wen was a silly child and could only follow Lin Mo. Lin Mo was a sickly child before, so Lin Wu, who was still young, became the pillar of the family.

He would follow the men in the village out early to find workmen, and follow them wherever there was work to do. The villagers also knew about the Lin family's situation, and seeing that Lin Wu was diligent and honest, they were happy to take him with them. Although he was young, he worked not much slower than those older men. After a while, the villagers would take the initiative to call him.
