Chapter 7: Expressing Your Feelings

He had to find a way to get the money as quickly as possible, and he had to find a legitimate reason, otherwise, in this dilapidated mountain village, if he was not careful, he would be given a bad reputation and it would be more trouble than it would take.

He himself doesn't care about these things, but he can't ignore Lin Sheng and the others. Since he has to live here, he has to think carefully about every aspect.

"Add some more firewood."

Su Mu looked at the two roasted pheasants with shining eyes. He turned them over while listening to Lin Mo's instructions to add firewood, and was as obedient as a child.

Lin Mo looked in the direction of his hands and saw Su Mu's calloused hands. He had an idea in his mind and realized that he had to work hard to make money and find some servants for his wife. He couldn't let him work anymore.

Lin Mo smiled dotingly, feeling like a worried old father, but for Su Mu, it was all worth it. Compared to life in the end times, life here made him feel more hopeful.

Although it was not summer yet, both of them were sweating profusely, but they were busy and happy at the thought of eating delicious chicken soon.

"Come, have a big chicken drumstick first." After it was finally cooked, Lin Mo quickly broke off a leaf, held the big chicken drumstick, pulled it off and handed it to Su Mu, and considerately sprinkled some salt on him, "Be careful not to burn your mouth."

Su Mu was stunned for a moment and didn't react for a while. He took the big chicken leg stiffly. He felt his nose sore and his eyes suddenly turned red.

"Thank...thank you...Lin Mo!"

Lin Mo heard something wrong and looked up immediately. Su Mu's red eyes stung his heart. He didn't know where he got the courage from, but he stroked his head with his big hand and said, "Silly, I will roast pheasant for you every day from now on. I guarantee that you will be fed up with the sight of chicken."

But Su Mu frowned even tighter after hearing his words. He hurriedly swallowed the chicken in his mouth and said in a hoarse voice, "Lin Mo, I won't go up the mountain anymore."

"What's wrong? Did I make you angry?" Lin Mo was panicked. If Su Mu didn't go up the mountain, it would be difficult for him to see him in the future. This place pays close attention to reputation, and he, a grown man, can't just go find a young man for no reason. Although in his heart Su Mu is the same as a man, he still has to consider Su Mu's reputation.

Seeing Lin Mo's face change drastically, Su Mu felt a warmness in his heart. "No, the weather is getting hotter and hotter, and firewood is not as valuable as in winter. There's a wealthy family in the next village who is building a house, and my mother found a job for me. The day after tomorrow I will go with some aunts in the village to help."

Hearing this, Lin Mo was overjoyed. It was rare for him to hear Su Mu say so much, but when he thought of his mother, he became even more worried. What kind of job could Su Mu's black-hearted mother find for him? He stared at Su Mu with unprecedented determination in his eyes.

"Little Wood, I'm going out on business in a couple of days. This trip might take more than two months. When I come back, will you marry me?"

"What?" Su Mu widened his eyes in shock, and the chicken leg in his hand fell between his legs, which were neatly folded. He hadn't reacted to Lin Mo's words yet, and just stared at Lin Mo in disbelief with his eyes wide open.

"I'm going out to do business this time. I'll try to get some money so I can ask a matchmaker to go to your house and propose marriage." Lin Mo looked at his stunned expression and thought it was so adorable. He carefully picked up the chicken leg and put it back in his hand.

"The only way to convince your mother to marry you to me is to give her more betrothal gifts. But as you can see, I have just recovered from my illness and my family has no money. If I want to marry you, I can only go out and do business."

After being surprised, Su Mu's eyes turned red again, and even his face was obviously red, with Lin Mo's words of wanting to marry him filling his mind.

"You... why? Why..."

"Because I like you, I really like you. I started liking you from the first moment I saw you."

Lin Mo looked at Su Mu affectionately, his tone was gentler than he himself had ever noticed, and his eyes were filled with Su Mu.

Su Mu didn't say anything, nor did he shake his head. His usually expressionless face flushed red, and his slightly red eyes stared straight at Lin Mo. He saw himself in Lin Mo's eyes, as if this person only had him in his eyes.

"Will you be with me? Then we'll become a family. I'll protect you and won't let anyone bully you. Let's get married, okay?"

marriage?

Su Mu tilted his head. Lin Mo's words were like a warm current that poured into Su Mu's dry heart, warming up his whole body.
