For Han Zhi's sake, Mingfan took the exam for the top military scholar and won the first place. The whole city celebrated with him and he took up his post in Beijing the following month.
Many years later, foreign enemies invaded, and Ming Fan went to war. His wife Lan Ting also followed her husband to fight on the battlefield.
In the same year, they both died, leaving no children behind, and their bodies were buried on the battlefield.
With Lin Sheng watching, Han Zhi traveled thousands of miles alone to the battlefield to collect the bodies of Ming Fan and his wife.
The battlefield was littered with corpses. After searching day and night, Han Zhi finally found Mingfan's body.
The young man's face remained the same, his smile as before. Even in his final moments, he wanted to leave a beautiful image for future generations, because he knew someone would come to collect his body. He didn't want that person to be sad, so he wanted to leave him with a beautiful last image.
Han Zhi pulled out the arrow from Mingfan's body and wiped the dust and blood off his face. With tears in his eyes, he spoke to him gently.

Han Zhi traveled across thousands of borders alone, traveling day and night, passing through vast grasslands, walking through snow-capped mountains, and wading through shallow streams, carrying on his back the friendship between them for more than ten years.

Han Zhi would sometimes sit quietly in the yard, daydreaming for a while. He often thought that if he had gone there that year, Mingfan would not have had to die.
Lin Sheng would also comfort him: "He did this because he felt it was worth it. He did it to help you. Now that he has passed away, it is the greatest comfort to Mingfan that we live well.

Lin Sheng put her hand on his shoulder, and Han Zhi gently stroked his hand. The two of them walked all the way, supporting each other and understanding each other.
A few years later, Han Zhi and Lin Sheng had a son and a daughter. He named his eldest daughter Nian and his youngest son Fan.
