Chapter 34 We are each other's family

Inside Yaohua Pool, drums and music resounded, and amidst the clinking of cups, light songs and graceful dances filled the air.

The Emperor and Empress sat in the main hall, feasting and singing with their relatives and nobles; it was a very lively occasion.

An Ning stood aside, watching the lively scene of singing and dancing, and found it extremely interesting.

"Your Highness, please try this." Mu Anyu earnestly helped Jin Yinhua pick up some food, his words were extremely gentle, and his eyes never left her.

To onlookers, they all said they were a perfect couple, deeply in love.

"Look at this second son, he's quite the doting husband," the emperor remarked to the empress, finding it rather unusual.

The Empress nodded: "I hadn't noticed that before."

Lanxi sat behind them, watching the dog food with envy. She was tired of saying the word "envy". Thinking of this, she glanced at the person next to her, who was drinking heavily with a wine pot.

"All you do is drink. You might as well drink yourself to death." Lanxi glared at him, then quickly turned her head away. It was an eyesore to look at him any longer.

Mu Anxiang felt Lan Xi's gaze, put down the wine pot, and leaned closer to ask, "Your Highness, what's wrong?"

Instantly, a strong smell of alcohol filled the air, making her dizzy: "Get away, don't come near me."

Mu Anxiang couldn't stand it anymore and grabbed Lan Xi's sleeve, refusing to let go: "Why are you complaining about me again? I haven't even complained about you yet. You're just acting like a child all the time."

Lanxi frowned: "If you say another word, I'll take action."

Yan Mufeng looked at the two of them and couldn't help but laugh: "You two are really a pair of clowns."

Mu Anwen silently served her food, listened to her speak, looked up and echoed, "I heard that since Sixth Brother and Sixth Sister-in-law got married, they haven't had a single day where they can get along."

Yan Mufeng was quite envious of them; their playful banter was very entertaining, unlike himself and Mu Anwen, who were bored all the time.

"They seem to be having quite a good time. Maybe they'll develop feelings for each other while they're fighting."

Mu Anwen nodded: "Yes, sometimes fate is just unpredictable."

Yan Mufeng looked down again and saw that the food on his plate had been piled up into a small mountain.

"Your Highness, I can't eat this much."

Mu Anwen looked at her and said, "It's alright, if you can't eat, I'll eat for you."

His tone was so natural, as if it were his natural way of speaking.

Yan Mufeng paused slightly in his chopsticks, a warm feeling welling up inside him for some reason: "You are a prince, this is against the rules."

Mu Anwen smiled and shook his head: "I don't really care about those rules. As long as you are comfortable living in the mansion, that's fine."

Yan Mufeng looked up at him. He had a handsome and delicate face, and his body looked weak and frail, just like his personality. But sometimes, his care and tenderness would linger around you like a gentle rain, leaving you nowhere to hide.

"Thank you." Before marrying into the family, Yan Mufeng was most worried about whether she could continue practicing martial arts. Unexpectedly, since marrying into the Fifth Prince's Mansion, apart from having to wait for him to sleep together, it seems that there are no other restrictions on her. She is even more free and at ease than in her own country.

"No need for thanks, it's what I should do."

He's always like that—gentle and modest.

The Crown Prince was chatting with several relatives when Su Yunyan sat alone at the table, her slender figure appearing even more lonely.

When Wu Ying saw this, she felt a pang of compassion and beckoned An Ning over, whispering something in her ear.

An Ning nodded: "Leave it to me." After saying that, she ran over to Su Yunyan's side.

"Sister Yunyan."

Anning gently tugged at her sleeve and sweetly called out, "Sister Yunyan."

Su Yunyan was slightly taken aback. She turned to look at her and, upon discovering it was a young eunuch, quickly pulled her sleeve away from his grasp, stepped back slightly, and asked, "What is it?"

An Ning didn't expect Sister Yunyan to be so wary: "Sister Yunyan, don't be afraid, Sister Wuying asked me to give this to you."

As she spoke, Anning opened her palm, revealing an orange inside.

Su Yunyan was slightly taken aback, looked at Wu Ying sitting in front of her, and nodded slightly in return: "Thank you."

“Sister Wuying probably thinks you might be bored seeing you all alone, so she asked me to bring you an orange to quench your thirst. If you’d like, you can sit down with Sister Wuying and chat.” An Ning blinked her big, dark eyes, her words earnest and hard to refuse.

Su Yunyan was somewhat tempted. She glanced in the direction of the Crown Prince and saw that he was chatting happily, clearly having forgotten her presence.

"Alright, please lead the way, sir."

Seeing that a group of people had gathered here, the others also eagerly came over to chat.

Lanxi immediately abandoned Mu Anxiang and squeezed into their table.

"Little Flower Sister, I think your prince treats you really well, he's incredibly attentive to you."

As soon as Lanxi arrived, she put her arm around Jin Yinhua's arm and said sourly.

“Who says otherwise? I’m so envious!” Wu Ying chimed in while cracking sunflower seeds.

"Sister Yunyan, how does the Crown Prince treat you?"

Qingyao had been observing everyone, and seeing that Su Yunyan was somewhat reserved and silent, she spoke up and asked.

Su Yunyan was clearly taken aback, and then said, "It's neither good nor bad. What I'm after isn't genuine affection."

Her dejected tone made it clear to everyone that she was not doing well.

Wu Ying wanted to comfort her but didn't know what to say, so she nudged Qing Yao with her elbow and gave her a wink.

“The Crown Prince holds a high position and it’s inevitable that he can’t attend to these matters. Don’t be so distressed. If you have any difficulties, just tell me. We’re all sisters, and we’ll help you relieve your worries.” Qingyao looked at her and spoke gently, a tone that was comforting to hear.

“Yes, yes, we all came from far away from our hometowns to a place where we were strangers and relatives. But now we are family to each other. If you have any difficulties or hardships, just tell me. I, Wu Ying, will definitely go to great lengths to help you.” Seeing that Su Yunyan was still hesitant, Wu Ying took her hand and said warmly.

Su Yunyan smiled at her cheerful personality and nodded slightly.

"Oh, why are your hands so cold?" Wu Ying exclaimed in surprise as soon as she grabbed Su Yunyan's hand.

"Yunyan, are you sick?"

Seeing Wu Ying's concerned expression, Su Yunyan's eyes involuntarily reddened. Since she left her family to marry into the Crown Prince's residence, no one had ever cared about her.

"I've always had cold hands and feet since I was little, it's nothing to worry about," Su Yunyan said softly.

Qingyao shook her head and said, "Cold hands and feet are definitely a sign of a health problem. I know some medicine, so I can prepare a few medicinal baths for you to use temporarily. If they work, I'll send someone to deliver them to your residence."

Su Yunyan looked at Qingyao, her eyes filled with gratitude.

"If you need money in the manor, just come to me. You know I have nothing but silver." Seeing that Su Yunyan was so unhappy, Jin Yinhua didn't know what to say, so she could only use what she was best at to cheer her up.
