Chapter 22 I Don't Want Him to Die Either

"But he's a eunuch, how can I... possibly bring myself to kiss him?"

Mu Ange seemed to be possessed, staring intently at An Ning on the bed, his whole body tense.

The flickering candlelight cast a soft, intermittent glow on Anning's clean and serene face. Her skin was like solidified cream, her features exquisite, her eyebrows as dark as distant mountains, her face as radiant as a lotus blossom, and her skin as smooth as jade.

Mu Ange turned her head away awkwardly: Why would a eunuch be so delicate-looking!

"Never mind, saving lives is the priority." Mu Ange's face was gloomy, his body stiff, and he slowly leaned down, his scarlet eyes wide open, about to kiss An Ning's lips.

"Smack!"

An Ning finally regained a moment of clarity and struggled to open her eyes, only to see Mu Ange's large face getting infinitely closer to her. Moreover, his face was frighteningly gloomy, as if the King of Hell had come to take her life.

In a panic, she reflexively slapped him, but she was so weak that the slap was weak and just slowly slid across Mu Ange's face.

"What are you doing?" "Gulp."

An Ning used all her strength to question him, and the next second, she swallowed the medicine in her mouth.

An Ning then realized that it wasn't the King of Hell, but the Third Prince.

Mu Ange had never been so embarrassed in her life, so embarrassed that her face was dark red.

"I...I just wanted to check if you had taken your medicine."

An Ning covered her throat and said hoarsely, "Water, give me water quickly."

Mu Ange said nothing and silently handed a glass of water to An Ning.

After drinking the water, the atmosphere became awkward again.

An Ning suddenly remembered: "How is Sister Yun? Didn't we ask you to go and rescue her?"

As planned, Mu Ange should be rescuing Sister Yun now, but why is he sitting there dumbfounded in front of me?

Mu Ange looked away: "Your sudden attack of the Golden Toad Gu delayed the dispatch of troops."

An Ning frowned: "Golden Toad Gu? So the pain was caused by the Golden Toad Gu?"

Upon hearing this, An Ning wanted nothing more than to stand up and smash Mu Ange's head: Look at what you've done! You reap what you sow, huh? You used the curse on me, and now your whole plan is ruined! You bastard!

"You bastard!" An Ning was so angry that she accidentally blurted out what was on her mind.

Mu Ange raised an eyebrow at her: "Are you insulting me?"

An Ning was slightly stunned, then immediately closed her eyes and clutched her chest: "Ouch, ouch, it still hurts so much."

Mu Ange just watched her pretend quietly: "The antidote was personally prepared by me, you don't need to pretend."

An Ning opened one eye, glanced at him, and resignedly said, "Fine, I did curse at you just now."

Knowing his stubborn temper, would he hang me up and beat me? An Ning thought anxiously.

But he did nothing; he just sat there blankly.

“I need to get back to the palace as soon as possible; there are people waiting for me,” An Ning said, breaking the silence.

Mu Ange asked expressionlessly:

"who?"

An Ning spread his hands: "The assassin, the person who killed me, was probably sent by the Emperor. He suspected that I was one of your men, so he wanted to kill me."

Mu Ange's expression changed slightly: "Bai Lu, Hei Feng, or who else?"

An Ning patted her head and thought for a long time: "Black Wind."

Mu Ange stood up, took out his short knife, and walked straight outside.

An Ning asked, puzzled, "Your Highness, where are you going?"

Mu Ange said calmly, "Kill him."

"Who? Black Wind?"

"right."

"Why?"

"He wants to kill you."

An Ning was completely stunned: What did he mean? Was he trying to protect her?

“The order came from the Emperor. Even if it wasn’t Black Wind, it would have been someone else. Besides, Black Wind has already treated me very well.”

Mu Ange was puzzled, but still stopped in her tracks: "They treat you very well?"

Anning looked at him with her innocent eyes: "Yes, this is the third time I've seen him today. He even lent me the tinder for starting the fire. We agreed that he could start the fire once I got back."

Mu Ange stared blankly at her: "Aren't you afraid of death? That's Black Wind, the Emperor's top assassin, who has never failed."

To be honest, An Ning didn't really care that much about death, because there was no one in this world she could miss. The only person she felt reluctant to leave was Sister Yun. However, Sister Yun had Mu Ange protecting her, so she should be fine. Therefore, rather than living a wretched life here, maybe dying would allow her to go back.

"Death? I'm not afraid of it, but... I genuinely think Brother Black Wind is a great guy."

Mu Ange looked at An Ning as if she were a madwoman: "Has the Golden Toad Gu poisoned your brain? Are you starting to act crazy?"

After saying that, he turned to leave.

An Ning panicked: "Stop! I already told you not to kill him!"

Mu Ange took a deep breath, turned around, and suppressed her anger: "What's so great about protecting a mere assassin? You're incredibly stupid."

Mu Ange really couldn't understand why this stupid eunuch was protecting that assassin so much.

An Ning stubbornly replied, "I'm going to protect him."

Mu Ange suddenly lost his temper, threw the short knife in his hand to the ground, and said through gritted teeth, "Fine, I won't kill him, but I won't let him kill you either. I'll protect your worthless life."

After saying that, he kicked open the door and left.

An Ning stared at his angry back, stunned for a moment: "What kind of approach is this?"

~~

He had just left the palace, but returned in less than half an hour.

Using her memories, Mu Ange easily found Anning's place.

It was a dimly lit little house with a small yard, just big enough to plant a single tree.

He pushed open the door, and a cold gaze instantly locked onto him.

"Third Prince?" Upon seeing that the visitor was actually the Third Prince, Hei Feng remained calm, with little expression on his face.

Mu Ange wasn't afraid of him making a move. She walked straight to his side and said bluntly, "That eunuch is my man."

"I killed your men."

Mu Ange sneered, her body instantly surging with killing intent, her imposing aura like a mountain pressing down: "You can try."

Black Wind is a top-notch assassin, and he certainly has his own skills. Even when facing such a powerful enemy, he shows no fear whatsoever.

"I haven't returned the tinder I borrowed from him yet."

Mu Ange thought that birds of a feather flock together. This Black Wind and that eunuch were both mentally unstable, and their speech was incoherent and illogical!

"I have already said, he cannot die."

Hei Feng suddenly smiled, slowly raised his head, and said softly, "I don't want him to die either." After saying that, he seemed to relax his shoulders as if a great weight had been lifted, with a calmness he hadn't felt in a long time!

Mu Ange was horrified. He knew all too well what kind of identity the assassins were. If an order was given, they would carry it out even if it meant death. Once an assassin had their own thoughts and began to resist or defy the order, they would instantly become a useless pawn, and in the end, they would only be eliminated.

"Is there any way?" For the first time, Hei Feng looked directly into someone's eyes, using his usual cold indifference to cover up the pleading that flashed in his eyes, all for the sake of an unknown little eunuch.
