Chapter 49 Arrival at Guang City, Special Food

Lin Jingshu didn't know that someone was already waiting for them on the island.

After three days and two nights of driving, they finally arrived in Guangzhou.

As soon as I got off the car, a gust of humid heat hit me in the face.

After walking just a few steps, I was sweating profusely and my clothes were sticking to my body, which was very uncomfortable.

Gu Chengze carried the luggage, and Lin Jingshu followed closely behind him holding Ruirui's hand.

Finally squeezing out of the crowded station, they found a shady spot to put their things down.

"There's no boat going back to the island today. Let's rest here tonight and take the boat back tomorrow."

Lin Jingshu nodded hurriedly. She didn't want to appear in front of everyone as if she was fleeing.

Arriving at a nearby guesthouse, Gu Chengze thought about it and booked two rooms.

He and Qi Mingrui lived in one room, and his wife lived in another.

The two rooms are next to each other, so if anything really happens, he can react in time.

Back in the room, Lin Jingshu couldn't wait to lie on the bed.

This was her first time to take a train for such a long time. The initial excitement disappeared amid the clanging sound of the tracks. After the journey, she felt exhausted.

"Knock knock knock." There was a knock on the door.

Lin Jingshu opened it and saw Gu Chengze and Ruirui.

Gu Chengze: "Do you want to take a shower?"

He asked the waiter for the key to the bathroom and bought some toiletries. After sitting on the train for such a long time, a hot bath would make him feel refreshed.

"want!"

Just as she was dozing off, someone brought her a pillow. Lin Jingshu just wanted to wash off the sweat on her body.

The shower area is in the backyard of the guesthouse, and it doesn't look very big.

"I'm taking Ruirui in. Call me if you need anything."

Lin Jingshu: "Okay."

When I entered the bathroom, I found that there was no obstruction, only rows of shower heads hanging on the wall.

She was glad that there was no one around, otherwise she would have felt too embarrassed to take off her clothes.

Her hair hadn't been washed for a few days and was greasy and tangled. Lin Jingshu thought that since she had no shampoo, she used soap to make do.

She poured out the bag of toiletries that Gu Chengze gave her and found shampoo inside.

Finally I can take a shower in peace.

When she came out, Gu Chengze and Ruirui had already finished showering and were waiting for her outside.

After returning the keys, Gu Chengze sent them back.

"I'm going out to buy food, you guys wait here for me."

Afraid that they would be bullied as they were unfamiliar with the place, he repeatedly told them to wait for him to come back.

Lin Jingshu: "I understand, go ahead."

She waved goodbye, and Gu Chengze shook his head and smiled as he left.

The guesthouse is not far from the state-owned hotel, and the round trip takes only about twenty minutes.

Gu Chengze walked quickly, and when he came back, Lin Jingshu's hair was still not dry.

Her stomach growled, and Lin Jingshu wiped it twice.

Gu Chengze frowned slightly, looking at her hair with some worry. After a moment of hesitation, he said, "You'll get a headache if you don't dry your hair."

Lin Jingshu's hair is black and thick, and it takes a lot of effort to dry it every time.

If the sun is shining, it will be done quickly and without much effort. If it is cloudy, it will take at least an hour to do.

Sometimes she felt tired and lazy, so she would just do it casually. She wanted to cut her hair short, but she couldn't bear to do it.

"But I'm too tired."

Lin Jingshu drooped her wrists, looking exhausted. The tiredness from washing her hair was completely different from the tiredness from painting.

Gu Chengze asked Ruirui to eat first, and he took the towel from Lin Jingshu's hand to help her wipe her hair.

"I'll help you wipe it later."

Gu Chengze looked at her and said this.

Lin Jingshu raised her head, and their eyes met. Seeing the heat in his eyes, her face flushed and she muttered, "I'm not a child."

Gu Chengze chuckled, "You can always be a child with me."

He protects his own wife and fully supports her no matter what she wants to do as long as it does not violate the rules.

Lin Jingshu raised the corner of her mouth, "Don't talk nonsense in front of the children."

Qi Mingrui raised his head with rice still stuffed in his mouth. Was his aunt talking about him?

Gu Chengze ordered three servings of rice and four dishes. Fearing that Lin Jingshu was not used to eating rice, he also ordered two steamed buns.

Feeling relaxed after taking a shower, Lin Jingshu enjoyed her meal with great relish.

Gu Chengze: "There's a Chinese overseas store here, shall we go take a look?"

Gu Chengze didn't have any of the three-turn and one-ring watches that he promised to buy her, so he wanted to take this opportunity to make up for it for her.

Whatever others have, my wife should have too.

Lin Jingshu was very touched by his thoughtfulness. "Okay, let's go there tomorrow."

It was already late after dinner, so Gu Chengze told her to close the door.

"I'm next door, call me if you need anything."

After they left, Lin Jingshu locked the door, propped a chair against the door handle, and went to bed with peace of mind.

Lin Jingshu had a dreamless night until Gu Chengze came to call her for dinner, and then she regained consciousness.

After using the front desk phone to call home to report safety, the three of them went out to eat.

The temperature in Guangzhou has not risen yet in the morning, and there is a hint of coolness in the air.

The construction of Guangzhou is not much different from that of my hometown, but as soon as I entered the state-owned restaurant, I noticed the difference.

Many dishes have flavors unique to the south, and Lin Jingshu picked out a few of the more distinctive ones.

Gu Chengze was a little surprised, "Have you eaten it?"

All the items she ordered were specialties from Guangzhou, and it would be impossible for a first-time visitor to be so proficient in them.

Lin Jingshu thought to herself that it was not good, ordering the food was too easy.

Her expression froze for a few seconds, then quickly returned to normal, she smiled and said, "I saw it in the newspaper when I was in school, but never had the chance to try it. Now that I'm finally here, of course I have to try some of its specialties."

Gu Chengze nodded, not noticing her abnormality.
