The car was driving on a flat dirt road. The trees planted on both sides were of different heights. They were completely wild and there was no trace of human interference.
The road scenery is not as good as that of later generations, but it has a wild beauty.
This is how plants should be, allowed to grow freely in an unconstrained environment, rather than being cut into uniform shapes.

"Let's find some wild fruit trees and plant them at home so we can enjoy the coolness in the summer."

Uncle Niu lives at the end of the village. As soon as the jeep drove into the village, it attracted the attention of adults and children.
The adults looked at the familiar jeep and knew that it was someone coming from the nearby housing estate. They usually walked here, but today they changed their means of transportation and looked around curiously.
The children chased after the jeep until it stopped.
Lin Jingshu got out of the car and saw them hiding behind the tree, and waved at them with a smile.
A few brave children ran over, stopped one meter away from her, and looked at her curiously.
"Hello."
Lin Jingshu half-knelt down and greeted them, "Do you know if anyone has eggs or vegetable seeds? I'd like to exchange some."
The bare yard at home was cleaned up by the two of them while Gu Chengze was at home and they planted some vegetables. Just buying vegetables from the supply and marketing cooperative was not a long-term solution. Such a big yard had to be put to use.
"I have one at home."
"I have one at home, too."
Whenever someone came to exchange something, the food at home would get better, and the children would raise their hands happily and rush to show off in front of her.
"My family is the best in the village. Theirs are not as good as mine."
"You're talking nonsense. My family's the best."
Seeing the children about to quarrel, Lin Jingshu quickly stopped them and gave them a gentle look, "How about this, everyone go home and bring five eggs. I'll see if they look good, and then we can exchange them. Is that okay?"

Uncle Niu heard the noise and came out. Seeing Gu Chengze and his wife coming, he quickly invited them in.

Gu Chengze explained his purpose.

Uncle Niu patted his chest to reassure them.
Lin Jingshu told Uncle Niu a few things she wanted to make.
Uncle Niu nodded after hearing this and said, "Big items like desks and bookshelves can be completed in about three days. Small items like low stools are easier to make."
"Do you have anything ready to take away?"
Since I drove here, I can't go back empty-handed. Besides, I might need the bench when entertaining guests at home, so I'd better take away whatever I can.
"Yes, but the tung oil hasn't dried yet. It will take at least two hours."
"It's okay, we'll wait."
Uncle Niu asked his wife to pour a pot of cold tea for the guests to heat up while he took the time to get busy.
People in the family compound often come to him to ask him to make things. There are not many people as polite and generous as Gu Chengze, so he has to work hard to retain this "big customer".
Uncle Niu was too busy to chat with them, so Aunt Niu sat aside and acted as a diplomat.

Xiaoyu's mother stopped walking when she cried out. She scratched her head and muttered in surprise, "Why did you just exchange the things and run away like a thief?"
Xiaoyu ran the fastest. The other children were either a step slower or were found by their parents by twisting their ears.
"Mom, what I said is true. How come you don't even believe your own son?"
Tiedan said with a grin.
Tiedan's mother twisted his ear and said, "How come I didn't know someone was here to exchange things? Were you cheated by the peddler?"
Tiedan was so angry that he puffed up his cheeks and didn't say a word. His mother was busy weaving mats at home and didn't even leave the house. How could she know that someone came to exchange things?
"Tiedan, you're late. The beautiful sister has already chosen my eggs."
