Chapter 14 Good Stuff

Despite the sweltering heat, everyone was still bundled up from head to toe, with only their eyes showing, making it impossible to tell who was who.

Everyone had a towel draped over their shoulder, ready to wipe away sweat at any time.

Jiang Jinxiu, who had only brought a water bottle and hadn't prepared anything else, felt a little uneasy seeing this scene and didn't dare to approach.

After watching for a while and making a lot of mental preparations, just as she was about to go in, two hands grabbed her sleeves and pulled her out.

"Third brother's wife, didn't I tell you to rest? What are you doing here? It's so hot, go back home quickly."

It turned out to be her mother-in-law, Yang Dongmei.

“Mother, I also want to earn work points,” Jiang Jinxiu explained.

"Look at you, you haven't prepared anything, what are you going to earn work points for?"

"If I hadn't pulled you back, you would have gone inside, and you'd be itching to death today."

"Mother, I don't know."

"It's alright, go back, get some rest today." Yang Dongmei said as she pushed her back.

Jiang Jinxiu had no choice but to hand the water bottle to Yang Dongmei: "Mother, I'll listen to you. You can keep the water bottle and drink whenever you're thirsty."

Yang Dongmei took the kettle and waved her away.

Jiang Jinxiu was curious about what Gujia Village would look like after the flood, so she walked alone towards the paddy fields.

Gujia Village is mostly hilly with few flat areas. The paddy fields are situated between two small hills.

Layer upon layer, in a stepped fashion.

Jiang Jinxiu hadn't gone far when she saw a vast expanse of water.

Most of the paddy fields were submerged, and from a distance, some trees in the water had only their crowns remaining.

Floods are merciless.

There were piles of weeds and branches on the bank, covered with ants, insects, and even rats. Jiang Jinxiu felt a chill run down her spine.

Just as she was about to turn back, she saw Orange walking towards her from afar, dragging a long thing. She subconsciously stopped and waited for Orange.

"Orange, what are you dragging?"

"Meow meow meow..."

nice one.
