Gu Xichen didn't want to dampen Gu Dashan's spirits, but he couldn't help saying, "Dad, my wife is afraid of mice. Please don't let her see them."
Gu Dashan, however, disagreed: "It's alright. Your mother was scared back then too, so I secretly cooked it for her and she kept praising how delicious it was. I only told her after I finished eating it, and she didn't say anything. Bamboo rats are a good thing, they're different from ordinary rats. They're so sweet when cooked."
Gu Xichen recalled that when he was a child, he remembered that once his father was chased all over the yard and beaten by his mother.
It seems it's because he tricked their mother into eating rat meat.
"She won't say it, but she'll chase after you and beat you up," Gu Xichen said coolly.
Gu Dashan's smile froze instantly.
This brat isn't as cute as he used to be.
"Alright, alright, I won't take it back. I'm going to your uncle's house for dinner tonight. Your aunt isn't afraid of mice." With that, he tied up the mouse and put it aside.
Seeing the oranges at his feet, his eyes lit up: "Little guy, go and catch me two more."
Upon hearing this, Orange dashed off again.
Gu Dashan praised the oranges for their intelligence.
That day, it actually caught three large bamboo rats for Gu Dashan, making him so happy he couldn't stop smiling.
Chengzi finally felt like she had found a kindred spirit. She clung to Gu Dashan all day long, even at night.
Jiang Jinxiu was speechless with astonishment.
After learning that it had used the rat to bribe Gu Dashan, they couldn't be bothered with it anymore.
Just don't give her the mouse.
That evening, Gu Dashan happily carried three large bamboo rats to Gu Dahai's house.
As Gu Dashan walked, he smugly said, "This was scratched by the cat that our third son's wife keeps. Isn't it amazing?"
Everyone who saw it was filled with envy, wishing they could have a cat at home too.
However, because of this incident, a cat-raising craze really swept through Gujia Village, with almost every household keeping a cat.
Jiang Jinxiu, realizing the situation too late, was both amused and exasperated.
And Orange naturally became the boss of all the cats in Gujia Village.
Of course, that's a story for another time.
That night, when all was quiet, Jiang Jinhua knocked on Gu Xiliang's door, shook the sack in his hand, and said, "Brother, shall we go and pull off a heist?"
Gu Xiliang was somewhat bewildered; he had no idea what Jiang Jinhua was up to this time.
Jiang Jinhua noticed Gu Xiliang's confusion and said bluntly, "Let's each take a sack and go find that ugly woman and her husband Liu Jianjun from today and beat them up."
When the two men arrived at the He family's house, they didn't see Liu Jianjun, whom he wanted to beat up the most. Instead, they only saw He Mei in the room.
They had just knocked the man unconscious and were trying to get him out.
Suddenly I heard a different sound from next door.
The two hot-blooded young men listened, their faces turning red with embarrassment.
Gu Xiliang just wanted to pull Jiang Jinhua away as quickly as possible.
But just as they climbed out the window with He Mei, they heard a woman's scream.
Jiang Jinhua felt that the voice sounded somewhat familiar.
He quietly moved closer and peered through the window. When he saw the woman's face, he was stunned and almost cried out.
Gu Xiliang quickly covered his mouth.
"Andy Lau, you actually like this kind of thing."
Jiang Jinhua slapped his hand away. "Don't talk nonsense. I only went to check because the voice sounded familiar. Who knew it would be an old acquaintance?"
Gu Xiliang asked curiously, "Who is it?"
"Liu Jianjun's younger sister, Liu Caihong."
Gu Xiliang: "..."
"Are all the girls in your city so unrestrained?" He still remembered the incident of Song Wan'er being paraded through the village.
"No, she was tied to the bed."
"What?"
Gu Xiliang was shocked.
"Should we go tell the village chief?"
As soon as he finished speaking, Jiang Jinhua glared at him and said, "Mind your own business."
Now, how is he supposed to explain their visit to the He family, especially since they've never gotten along since childhood? He doesn't want to get involved with her at all.
How could he not understand her personality?
If he dares to interfere in her affairs now, she will definitely cling to him in the future.
He doesn't want to.
Under the cover of night, the two dragged He Mei directly into the village's communal latrine. Fearing that someone might die, they even used something to secure her and make sure she wouldn't sink before going back to sleep.
She splashed him all over, and he splashed her all over in return, just right.
The next morning, Jiang Jinhua knocked on Jiang Jinxiu's door early. Jiang Jinxiu hadn't slept well the night before and was feeling sleepy.
Jiang Jinhua's nagging gave him a headache.
"Sis, sis, get up. I have something to tell you."
"Get up, get up! If you disturb my sleep again, I'll beat you up."
Jiang Jinxiu spoke irritably, her voice a little hoarse and not very loud.
After saying that, she turned over and tried to go back to sleep.
Jiang Jinhua, who was outside the door, didn't hear what she said clearly and continued to bang on the door.
Gu Xichen knew that he had exhausted his wife last night.
He knew he was in the wrong.
My wife can be grumpy when she wakes up, and if she hasn't had enough sleep, he'll be the one who suffers when she wakes up.
So he usually lets her sleep until she wakes up naturally.
He put his arm around her waist and kissed her hair: "You keep sleeping, I'll go out and take a look."
Jiang Jinxiu hummed in response, then fell silent again.
Gu Xichen pushed open the door and saw Jiang Jinhua, who was dressed neatly: "If there's anything, you can tell me. Your sister is still sleeping."
Jiang Jinhua rolled her eyes: "You wouldn't understand even if I told you."
He peeked out, wanting to call Jiang Jinxiu again.
