Zhao Guoan shook his head vigorously, like a rattle-drum.
He had seen all the educated youth at the settlement; they were all dark-skinned.
He doesn't want to go to the countryside as an educated youth.
As soon as Jiang Jinhua saw her mother come out, she went over and hugged her, saying in a pitiful voice, "Mom, Dad beat me as soon as he came, and you don't even do anything about it."
Zhou Wenjing retorted with a forced smile, "If you could speak so politely, would your father still beat you?"
"Mom, I just didn't expect you to actually come. Didn't you say on the phone last time that you weren't coming?"
"Am I that old, you brat? Get lost! I said I wouldn't come to see you, but I didn't say I wouldn't come to see your sister!"
Jiang Jinhua touched his head, which had been hit again. He was absolutely certain that his mother hadn't said that last time!
Why!
Why is it always him who gets hurt?
Jiang Jinhua asked with a pained expression, "Mother, am I really your biological child?!"
Zhou Wenjing wanted to slap him again, but as soon as she raised her hand, she saw that everyone was looking at her.
I suddenly felt a little embarrassed.
She didn't want everyone to see her as a tigress.
"You've been here for over half a year, have you written a single letter home?"
"Didn't my older sister write it? And she sent back some things, some of which I even found myself."
That's right. In the past six months, every time Jiang Jinxiu sent a letter home, she would also send some food and daily necessities along with it.
After Jiang Jinhua found out, she would occasionally add some things to it.
Especially after going to the black market.
Sometimes when he sees something new or interesting, he will ask Jiang Jinxiu to send it back to his parents to try.
There are many things in Guangxi that they have never seen or eaten in Beijing.
But he never actually wrote a single letter back himself.
In his mind, it would be fine as long as his sister wrote it, since they were all in the same place anyway.
His sister mentions him in her letters, so why should he write another one?
Zhou Wenjing said coldly, "Your sister is your sister, and you are you. According to you, does that mean that just because your sister has eaten, you don't have to eat?!"
Jiang Jinhua knew she was wrong, and she shook Zhou Wenjing's arm, pleading, "Mom, I was wrong. I promise I'll write you a letter every month from now on, no, every two weeks."
Seeing that Jiang Jinhua spoke sincerely and earnestly, Zhou Wenjing stopped arguing with him.
When Grandma Luo returned and saw the scenes of Jiang Jinxiu and her family getting along, the smile on her face never faded.
"Let's not stand in the yard anymore, let's all go inside and sit down. Xilan has already gone to call for people, Dashan and the others will be back in a bit."
Upon hearing this, everyone went into the living room together.
Not long after, Gu Dashan, Yang Dongmei, and Gu Xilan returned.
Xiao Hei also came back.
Upon noticing the unfamiliar scent, Xiao Hei couldn't resist going over to sniff it again and again.
It only after discovering that the two people had a similar aura to their owner did it whimper and lie down in front of Jiang Jinxiu.
Jiang Junrong was somewhat surprised to see such a docile wolfhound.
He looked at Gu Dashan and asked, "Is this your dog?"
Gu Dashan shook his head: "Third brother's wife."
Third son's wife?
Isn't that my own daughter?
Jiang Junrong clearly didn't believe that his delicate and frail daughter would raise such a large wolfhound.
He looked at Gu Dashan with an expression that said, "Don't lie to me."
When Yang Dongmei first met Jiang Junrong and Zhou Wenjing, she thought they were so young that they didn't seem like people with such big children.
However, their family really does resemble each other. It is said that sons resemble their mothers and daughters resemble their fathers, but in their family, it is the daughters who resemble their mothers and the sons who resemble their fathers.
They're all very nice, though.
"In-laws, welcome to our home."
Yang Dongmei warmly welcomed Zhou Wenjing, while Gu Dashan flirted with Jiang Junrong to play with the dog.
They looked like close buddies.
Jiang Jinxiu smiled when she saw how her parents and in-laws got along.
She hooked her hand around Gu Xichen's palm, about to say something, but out of the corner of her eye she saw Chengzi swaggering back through the gate.
It was carrying a rat several times larger than itself in its mouth!
No, it should be called a bamboo rat!
She glared at him, about to start yelling, when Little Black wagged its tail and happily went to greet Orange.
Jiang Junrong then saw the calico cat walk in and immediately stood up.
"Gu Dashan, is this your cat? Is that a bamboo rat in its mouth?"
His voice carried a mixture of surprise and a hint of excitement.
Everyone else looked over when they heard the sound.
When Orange saw that everyone had noticed it, it immediately stopped and looked at everyone.
When it saw the expression on its owner's face, it turned around and tried to run away.
How could it forget that its owner stopped bringing it back mice?
However, just as it turned around, Gu Dashan called out to it: "Orange, come back."
Then he patted Jiang Junrong on the shoulder and said, "You're in for a treat today. This bamboo rat is exceptionally delicious; I haven't had it in a while."
After saying that, he didn't forget to lick the corner of his mouth.
"Orange, come here, come here."
Upon hearing Gu Dashan's call, Chengzi reluctantly placed the field mouse in front of Gu Dashan, and with a few leaps, it climbed directly onto the wall.
"Meow meow meow..." Master, Master, I didn't mean to, your father-in-law told me to bring it back...
Jiang Junrong: "Gu Dashan, your cat is so intelligent! You tell it to bring it here, and it actually brings it here to you!"
"Of course, this cat is amazing. But Orange is also raised by your daughter."
After saying that, he looked at Chengzi and said, "Chengzi, why don't you go and catch one or two more? One isn't enough. Look how many of us there are."
