Extra Chapter 14: Do you still recognize me?

Night falls and the city lights come on.

On the hillside of Haicheng, a brightly lit villa shines like a pearl embedded in the night sky.

This is Wanghai Villa, the lair of Jin Zhicheng—also known as Wang Shi'an.

Luxury cars lined up one after another at the entrance of the resort.

A cocktail party ostensibly for business negotiations is being held here. Guests, elegantly dressed and surrounded by clinking glasses, create a scene of revelry and celebration.

No one could have imagined that behind this extravagance, a deadly undercurrent was brewing.

A black Hongqi sedan smoothly came to a stop at the entrance of the resort.

The car door opened, and Zhao Guoqiang got out first. He was wearing a well-tailored suit today, exuding an extraordinary air, perfectly befitting the status of a big boss in Beijing.

Immediately afterwards, he personally opened the car door and helped Grandma Luo and Jiang Junrong out.

Grandma Luo was wearing a dark-colored Chinese dress, and her hair was neatly combed.

Although she looked somewhat weak, her eyes were so sharp that people dared not look directly at her.

Jiang Junrong also changed into a smart Zhongshan suit. He stood silently beside his mother, exuding an imposing and dignified aura.

"Mr. Zhao, you've arrived!"

A man who looked like a butler immediately greeted him with a beaming smile: "Mr. Jin is already waiting for you in the study upstairs. Please come with me."

Zhao Guoqiang nodded, helped Old Lady Luo, and led Jiang Junrong, following behind the butler, into the magnificent villa.

Jiang Jinxiu and Gu Xichen did not go in with them.

They were standing on a hillside opposite the villa, like two ghosts hidden in the darkness.

Jiang Jinxiu closed her eyes, her powerful mental energy already enveloping the entire Wanghai Manor.

Every corner of the villa, every person's presence, was vividly present in her mind.

She could "see" that her older brother and the others were being led up to the second floor.

She could "see" that Zhao Guoqiang's men were lurking in every corner of the villa, disguised as waiters and bodyguards, waiting for her command.

She could also "see" an elderly man with gray hair standing by the window in the innermost study on the second floor, with his hands behind his back, admiring the night view outside.

His aura was cold and arrogant, yet carried a subtle hint of tension and greed.

That person was Wang Shi'an!

"He was in the study, all alone."

Jiang Jinxiu whispered to Gu Xichen beside her.

Gu Xichen nodded and squeezed her hand: "Don't worry, your brother has made all the arrangements. He can't escape tonight."

...

The door to the study was gently pushed open by the butler.

"Mr. Jin, Mr. Zhao has arrived."

Wang Shi'an slowly turned around.

He was over seventy years old, but he was well-maintained. Although his face was covered with wrinkles, he was still energetic and his eyes were sharp and intelligent.

He was dressed in a custom-made Tang suit, with a large jade ring on his hand, exuding an air of pampered wealth.

He greeted him with a smile and extended his hand: "Mr. Zhao, I have long admired your name. Meeting you today, I can see that you are indeed a young and promising man."

His gaze swept over Zhao Guoqiang's face before landing on Old Lady Luo and Jiang Junrong behind him, a hint of barely perceptible doubt flashing in his eyes.

Didn't we agree that only one person would come?

Why did you bring two more people with you?

Zhao Guoqiang did not shake hands with him, but simply smiled faintly and stepped aside.

Thus, Old Lady Luo and Jiang Junrong, who were standing behind him, were completely exposed to Wang Shi'an.

The smile on Wang Shi'an's face froze completely the moment he saw Old Lady Luo.

Time seemed to stand still at this moment.

He stared blankly at the old woman with gray hair and eyes full of hatred.

This face...

He knew that face all too well.

For decades, this face has appeared countless times in his nightmares.

He thought she was already dead.

He died in that war, and in decades of wandering and displacement.

But now, she's standing right in front of me, alive and well.

"You...you are..."

His voice, hoarse and shrill from extreme shock and fear, was raspy.

Grandma Luo did not answer him.

She just stared at him intently, her gaze as if she wanted to tear him to pieces.

She walked slowly towards him, step by step.

Every step felt like it was stepping on his heart, making it hard for him to breathe.

Wang Shi'an instinctively stepped back until his back hit the cold wall, leaving him nowhere to retreat.

"Who...who are you?"

He was still making a last-ditch effort; he couldn't believe it, and he dared not believe it.

Grandma Luo finally walked up to him. She raised her head, and her cloudy but hateful eyes pierced straight into his heart.

She raised her hand, pointed behind his left ear, and, enunciating each word with all her might, roared:

"Wang! Shi! An!"

Even if you turn to ashes, I'll still recognize you!

"boom!"

The last thread in Wang Shi'an's mind snapped completely.

His legs gave way, and he collapsed to the ground, his face drained of color, his eyes filled with endless fear.

It's him! It really is him!

No, it's her! She's still alive!

"You...you're not dead..."

He muttered incoherently to himself.

"Are you disappointed that I didn't die?"

Grandma Luo looked down at him, her eyes filled with chilling coldness: "Even if I crawled out of hell, I would still come back to haunt you and take your life!"
