Side Story 6: I need to go meet him.

Seeing her grandmother's pained expression, Jiang Jinxiu felt a lump in her throat.

She suddenly remembered something and looked at Gu Xichen: "Xichen, that skinny guy said that Feng Jingui said our Zhao family owes him more than just this. What does that mean?"

Everyone was stunned by these words.

Grandma Luo also stopped crying. She stared blankly at Jiang Jinxiu, seemingly trying to think.

"I owe him..."

She murmured, "What...does our Zhao family owe him?"

Suddenly, as if she had just remembered something, her face turned even paler: "I remember now... Jin Gui... he once proposed marriage to your grandfather."

"Proposing marriage?"

"yes."

Grandma Luo closed her eyes, and memories flooded back: "Jingui once liked someone, a maidservant of mine named Qiuyue. That girl was pretty and skillful, and I liked her quite a bit. Jingui came to your grandfather, asking him to arrange for Qiuyue to marry him. Your grandfather agreed at the time."

"And then what happened?" Zhou Wenjing couldn't help but ask.

"later……"

Grandma Luo's voice lowered: "Later, Qiuyue herself didn't want to. She said she didn't want to marry a servant, she wanted... she wanted to be your grandfather's concubine."

The entire room was filled with astonishment.

“Your grandfather refused on the spot and gave her a severe scolding, saying that our Zhao family has no rule of taking concubines. In order to put an end to her thoughts and to avoid embarrassing Jin Gui, your grandfather arranged for her to marry into a peasant family outside the city and gave her a generous dowry.”

Grandma Luo sighed, "I thought that was the end of it. Jin Gui was disappointed at the time, but he didn't say anything. But now that I think about it... I'm afraid the seeds of hatred have already been sown in his heart."

"Just because of that?"

Jiang Jinhua found it unbelievable: "My grandfather didn't do anything wrong! It was that maid named Qiuyue who had impure thoughts!"

"You can't see into someone's heart."

Gu Xichen said coldly, "In his eyes, it is probably our Zhao family that bullied others, stole his sweetheart, and ruined his marriage."

Jiang Jinxiu suddenly felt a chill run through her body.

How disappointed and heartbroken her grandfather must have been back then?

"Grandma, what about Wang Shi'an? And what was his motivation?"

Grandma Luo shook her head, her face full of exhaustion and confusion: "I don't know... I really don't know. Wang Shi'an has been by your grandfather's side for more than ten years, always loyal and without a single fault. If the 'A-Si' in your grandfather's letter really is him... then I really can't understand, what is he after?"

Just then, Jiang Junrong, who had been silent all along, suddenly spoke up. His voice was hoarse but firm: "No matter what he's after, we have to meet that Feng Jingui tonight."

He raised his head, his bloodshot eyes looking at Gu Xichen: "Xichen, come with me."

He wanted to ask that traitor himself how they had killed his father back then!

The moment Jiang Junrong uttered those words, the atmosphere in the room instantly changed.

Sadness and confusion were replaced by a resolute rage.

"I'm going too!"

Jiang Jinhua was the first to jump out: "Dad, I'm going with you too! That guy surnamed Feng is a scoundrel, he's dared to cheat our family for decades, I'll break his legs!"

"Nonsense!"

Before Jiang Junrong could speak, Zhou Wenjing glared at him: "Are we going to fight? We're going to find out what's going on! With your impulsive temper, you'll only cause trouble!"

“How could I cause trouble? I’m skilled! Besides, more people mean more help!” Jiang Jinhua retorted indignantly.

"No, you have to stay."

Gu Xichen directly rejected his suggestion: "The family needs someone to look after them. Grandma isn't well, and Mom and Xilan also need someone to take care of them. We can only feel at ease if you and Sister Xiaoyu are here."

Jiang Jinhua wanted to say something, but when she met Gu Xichen's unyielding gaze, she could only shut her mouth in frustration.

He knew that Gu Xichen was right, but he was still burning with anger. He couldn't stand not personally beating that traitor.

"I want to go too."

A clear but firm voice rang out, and everyone looked at Jiang Jinxiu.

“Nannan, you can’t go!” Jiang Junrong and Zhou Wenjing objected almost in unison.

"Yes, honey, we don't know the situation there yet. It's too dangerous."

Gu Xichen frowned and took her hand: "You stay at home, I'll go with Dad."

Jiang Jinxiu shook her head, her attitude resolute: "No, I must go."

Seeing the worried looks on her family's faces, she explained earnestly, "First, I know medicine, so I can help in case of any emergencies. Second, you all know how skilled I am; I can protect myself and won't be a burden. Most importantly..."

She paused, lowered her voice, and said in a volume that only a few people could hear, "My intuition is sharper than yours. I can tell immediately whether Feng Jingui is lying or whether there are ambushes around him. If you go, you'll be completely in the dark. If I go, we'll be much more confident."

Since merging with that inherited space, her five senses, especially her perception of emotions and danger, have improved by more than one level.

When that skinny monkey was lying, she could feel the guilty, cold energy emanating from him.

This ability is more useful than any martial arts skill in this situation.

Gu Xichen looked at her intently. He knew that once his wife made up her mind, nothing could change it.

Moreover, he was well aware of Jiang Jinxiu's abilities, and what she said was true.
