Chapter 25: Flowers Blooming in October

After the round-faced aunt left, Chen Man came out after washing the dishes and asked her grandmother, "Grandma, what did that aunt want you to do?"

"Have some wine. Her son is getting married in a few days. You should go and give him gifts and have a meal."

"Ah, should I go?" Chen Man pointed at herself.

"Yes, when your mother was still alive, she was supposed to give gifts to both my family and yours. Now you just give my family's."

"Oh, okay."

Four or five days later, at night, Chen Man and her grandmother were watching the projection together.

This time, the round-faced aunt came with her son. It turned out that her son was one of the young men who played cards with Xu Junyang on the night of the Mid-Autumn Festival.

He is quite tall and has a round face like his mother, but a little dark.

"Chen Man, bring your grandma to eat early tomorrow morning."

"Would you like to invite me to a banquet or help me?" asked grandma.

My round-faced aunt had a bright smile on her face, she was truly happy, and she was in high spirits when she was happy.

"Help, make it more lively."

Grandma nodded in agreement. "That's right."

The next morning, Chen Man got up early and dressed simply.

She put on an apron and went to her round-faced aunt's house.

She knew that in the countryside, people had to help with banquets, such as washing vegetables and dishes.

Grandma said that everyone eats late on the first morning, so she would push her over when it’s time to eat.

As I approached her house, I heard a noisy sound.

There were a lot of people standing in the yard, most of whom I had seen during the Mid-Autumn Festival, but there were also many unfamiliar faces, and suddenly there were a lot of strange young men.

Chen Man looked a little embarrassed to go over.

But think about it, you can't be so timid and petty.

She put on a polite smile and walked into the yard.

"Why are you carrying an apron?"

The fat aunt asked curiously when she saw Chen Man walk in wearing a floral apron.

"I'll help." Chen Man felt something was wrong with her tone, so she pursed her lips and answered cautiously.

The big eyes looked at the fat aunt innocently.

Unexpectedly, the people around her turned their eyes to her and smiled kindly, "Who asked you to help? I asked you to come to dinner."

"Unmarried girls don't need help with this. You're a guest, so you don't need help either."

"There are a lot of people helping out, just wait for dinner."

Chen Man: ...

A warm embarrassment spread from the soles of my feet.

Xu Junyang came out of the house, wearing casual sportswear, looking very fresh and handsome, and seemed a little out of place in this rural environment.

It was funny to see Chen Man wearing an apron.

He walked over and stood behind her, gently hooked his fingers on the bow on her back, and untied her apron.

"Give it to me, I'm just short of one." He wrapped it around his waist.

Chen Man lowered her head with a red face. She was really good, her face was red every day.

I could only let him take it off without making a sound.

Xu Junyang tied it and said to her, "You can go and help decorate the wedding room. You don't need to wear an apron."

"Yes, Nana is blowing up the balloon right there."

"Blowing up balloons isn't an easy job either."

"That's right. If you don't tie enough, the girl will think there's no atmosphere and won't take me seriously."

A few aunties who were temporarily free nearby took over the conversation.

Chen Man quickly slipped away.

I went upstairs to the living room, where the large sofa took up half of the room.

Three people were busy, one of them was Zhang Xiaona.

The other two looked to be in their twenties, and one of them looked very delicate with glasses.

The one with dyed yellow hair looked very...haggard, because there was a black part growing out of his hair, and his hair was a little dry, and it was draped behind his head.

"Come and help me inflate the balloons quickly, my hands are about to break." Zhang Xiaona shouted to Chen Man.

Chen Man joined the balloon-beating team.

Decorating a wedding room is really not an easy task. Just inflating balloons can make you exhausted.

We also have to help think about how to decorate it beautifully to reflect the wishes of the groom's family.

But fortunately, after breakfast, everyone had some free time, so the blonde girl assigned them tasks.

Stakes were set up along both sides of the road, and a 520-meter-long red line was stretched, with balloons tied to it.

This is a big project, and even my round-faced aunt has stepped in.

The day before, the villagers who came to help came to have dinner. During dinner, Chen Man saw a middle-aged man standing in the house, holding a notebook and reading names.

If you listen carefully, you can hear that they are reciting who carries the load, who holds the quilt, who holds the pot, and who holds the flowers.

"What is this for?" Chen Man asked Zhang Xiaona in a low voice.

"Go rob the bride's house."

Go to the bride's house!

Chen Man's eyes lit up as she listened. Could her name be on the list? She pricked up her ears and listened carefully.

After reading it out, I heard Zhang Xiaona's name but not my own.

The light in Chen Man's eyes disappeared.

After dinner, those who were going to the bride's house did not leave.

Chen Man pushed her grandmother home enviously.

The phone vibrated and Chen Man took it out to take a look.

Xu Junyang: Do you want to go?

Xu Junyang: Take my car.

Xiaolangman: But my name was not called.

Xu Junyang: It doesn’t matter, having a few more is no problem, as long as we have a car.

Xiaolang·Man: Great!

Xiaolangman: I'm sending grandma back home and will be here soon.

Xu Junyang: Take your time, no rush, I'll wait for you.

Chen Man shook her head happily.

"Why are you laughing so happily?"

"Xu Junyang said I can take his car to the bride's house." Chen Man happily shared the good news with her grandmother.

"Haha, when we were young, we also liked to watch this kind of excitement. Back then, unlike today, there were no cars or sedan chairs. Furniture was carried by people, and the people carrying furniture and new bedding formed a long line, playing suona and rubbing gongs along the way. It was very lively and lively."
