Time has passed

Time has passed

Liuwu Forest hasn't had any new guests for a long time. After passing through the dense forest, a quiet and peaceful courtyard comes into view.

The courtyard gate was half-closed, and Shui Buyun, who was inside, suddenly became alert.

"Aqua!"

Shui Buyun swayed, and just as the water light shot out, two vines suddenly wrapped around him. With a bang, he was tightly bound to the withered fruit tree behind Shu Huixin.

Clang!

In front of Shu Huixin, where Shui Buyun had just stepped, a chilling longsword was now stuck in the ground.

"who!"

Shui Buyun roared, his demonic power surging, but he still couldn't break free from the vines' restraints. "Axin! Let me go! What are you doing?"

Shu Huixin did not answer him. The courtyard gate opened silently, and a white figure slowly walked in.

She had a figure almost identical to Shu Huixin's, and her face was covered by a veil. However, when facing Shu Huixin, her tightly closed eyes slowly opened, revealing a pair of dark pupils that looked empty and lifeless. But when they fell on Shu Huixin, they seemed to suddenly come alive and become radiant.

"Ah Xin!"

Shui Buyun's sense of crisis had almost reached its peak. He didn't know the origin of the person in front of him, but his instincts told him that this woman was extremely dangerous. He felt the demonic power surging within him, and his back was tingling with fear. He had encountered countless opponents, but he had never felt this way before, this oppressive feeling of having no chance of winning.

He's going crazy.

Swoosh—

Two more vines separated from the vines on his body and directly blocked his mouth.

Shui was absolutely furious.

What is she doing? Is she going to face this person alone? Who exactly is this person?

When the woman in white removed her veil, revealing a face exactly like Shu Huixin's, Shui Buyun's eyes widened suddenly, she gave up struggling, and her mind began to go blank.

The two were sitting and standing, one with white hair and the other with black hair, but otherwise identical.

Shu Huixin couldn't see the other person, but she smiled slightly towards the courtyard gate, "I didn't expect you to come here."

"Because you don't come to me, I have to come to you." The woman in white spoke, her voice low and hoarse, indicating she was a man.

Shu Huixin shook her head with a wry smile.

"Why didn't you come to me?" The woman in white walked up to Shu Huixin, knelt on one knee, and reached out to touch her cheek, but her trembling fingertips never touched her face. "Why? You have completely controlled the demonic gu, so why are you still here, doing such things? Becoming a laughable immortal of the Six Palaces?"

His voice trembled slightly, as if he was trying his best to control himself, "Do you know? The first thing I did after I woke up was to look for you. I just wanted to see you, but what about you? Don't you want to see me? Tell me, I want you to tell me yourself!"

His hand ultimately couldn't fall. Looking at the familiar face before him, his initial excitement turned to utter despair.

He laughed, yet it also seemed as if he was crying.

"Brother Rong." Shu Huixin raised her hand and slowly touched his face, her thumb stroking his cheek, as if she wanted to say something but hesitated.

"Are you... still in pain?" Shu Huixin's lips twitched, her eyes stung with pain, and two streams of bloody tears flowed down her cheeks.

Wang Rongku was stunned and remained silent for a long time.

"Although I can't see, I'll never forget how much pain and despair you were in then. Because you had to take care of me, you dared not die, dared not fall. I wanted to share the pain of the demonic poison with you, I wanted to die with you..."

Shu Huixin groped for Wang Rongku's hand and placed it on her face, recalling the past as she said, "But you still couldn't bear to take me with you. You died, and I was afraid they would eat you too, so I buried you outside. The person who loved me most in this world is gone, but I'm still alive..."

Shu Huixin choked with sobs, unable to speak. Wang Rongku's resentment and anger gradually subsided. He gently held Shu Huixin and rested her head against his chest.

"I'm back. You don't have to be afraid anymore. No one, no, no demon can hurt you."

He spoke softly, just like back then when they were locked in a dungeon full of rats and snakes, he held her like this, only then could she fall asleep peacefully.

That was a dark past, and she was the only light that warmed her in that darkness.

Blood stained his white clothes. Shu Huixin was lost in thought for a long time before finally gently pushing him away.

"Brother Rong, Liao Wanchuan is dead."

Wang Rongku's heart felt as if it had been stabbed by something, the pain catching him off guard.

"So what? You think I deserve to die too?" Wang Rongku's voice trembled slightly as he looked at the familiar face in front of him in disbelief. "So... you really did side with the demons. Have you forgotten who killed our family members? Have you forgotten their deaths? Have you forgotten how you went blind?"

Shu Huixin shook her head. "I can't forget it!" she said, turning her head slightly as if looking at the fruit tree behind her. She spoke softly, "But... it's been too long. Time is the most terrifying thing because it can completely change a person. I was hurt by the demon and can't bear to look back, but I was also warmed by the demon. Brother Rong, forgive me for not being able to make a choice. I can only be myself at this moment."

The anger that had just subsided in Wang Rongku's eyes was reignited. He gripped Shu Huixin's hand tightly and looked behind her.

Is it him?

In that instant, Shui Buyun suddenly felt a pain in his heart, and a suffocating sense of oppression came over him, causing his demonic blood to surge.

Whoosh!

Shui Buyun's pupils flashed with a cold light, and his chilling killing intent, filled with a suffocating despair, instantly crushed the opponent's will to live.

Bang! Boom!

The two forces collided violently, blasting the vines into several pieces and sending up a cloud of black mist, which then exploded again between the two.

Wang Rongku was forced back several steps, clearly enraged.

"So you've completely controlled the demon gu! Be careful, do you still want to be my enemy? Do those demons know that you also have a complete, no, stronger demon gu inside you?" Wang Rongku looked at Shui Buyun, who was protecting her behind her, and a cold smile appeared on her lips.

Once he caught his breath, Shui Buyun finally came to his senses. His eyes were bloodshot, and he was covered in cold sweat, but he still forcibly suppressed the fear that came from his instincts and struggled desperately.

Even if I die, I'll bite a piece of flesh off that thing.

The smile on Wang Rongku's face vanished, for he saw the deep tension in Shu Huixin's seemingly calm expression. This tension had once been for him, but now it was for a demon.

His anger rose steadily. He couldn't believe that Shu Huixin would lay a hand on him for the sake of a demon, and he couldn't believe that a demon could become an obstacle between them.

He didn't believe it—

Wang Rongku took a large step forward, his sword flashing in an instant.

“Brother Rong, your body has not fully recovered.”

As soon as he finished speaking, the vines shot out with a whoosh, and Shui Buyun's demonic power surged, creating a loud boom.

"Aqua!"

Shui Buyong roared, the air suddenly froze, and countless water droplets burst out as they transformed into cold light.

"Gu vine!"

Shu Huixin's figure suddenly blocked Wang Rongku's path. Wang Rongku paused, and a tremendous demonic power, along with countless black vines, rushed towards him.

In his last glance, Shui Buyun saw only a towering black mist, like a vengeful ghost crawling out of hell, soaring straight into the sky. Shu Huixin stood in front of him, Wang Rongku's sword pointed at her brow, his expression twisted with struggle. His eyes were red, his teeth were clenched, and he questioned Shu Huixin with grief and indignation, "Just now, you had a chance, why?"

The Gu vines danced wildly around Shu Huixin, but they were not aggressive; instead, they seemed to be protecting Shui Buyun.

Shui Buyun's vision blurred, and he could neither see nor hear clearly, but before he lost consciousness, he still heard Shu Huixin's voice.

"I won't hurt you, and I won't let you hurt him." With that, Shu Huixin took a deep breath, slid her wheelchair forward slightly, and Wang Rongku's pupils constricted sharply. He instinctively took a step back. "Brother Rong, if you really want to kill me, I won't fight back. You're the one who saved my life..."

A gust of wind dispersed the black mist. As the mist dissipated, the surrounding vegetation instantly turned black and withered. Shu Huixin could no longer sense Wang Rongku's aura. She took a deep breath, barely suppressing the restless demonic gu within her body, and spat out a mouthful of foul blood. Before the blood even touched her clothes, it was already absorbed by the gu vine. Then, she slowly retracted the dark gu vine and turned to look at Shui Buyun, who had been injured and unconscious due to the backlash of her own demonic power.

"I won't allow it... so why bother..."

Shu Huixin shook her head, and the green vines wrapped around Shui Buyun, disappearing silently.

At the same time, at the entrance of the Demon Gu Cave in Yanshi Ridge, Wang Rongku stumbled in. As soon as he stepped into the depths of the cave, his knees buckled and he spat out a mouthful of blood. His pupils trembled violently, as if he was trying his best to suppress the restless killing intent within him. Outside, a group of mindless walking corpses controlled by Gu worms dared not approach.

After a while, he calmed down, closed his eyes again, put on his veil, and stood up again. His aura was no longer violent, and he had returned to the appearance of the woman in white.

As dusk falls, the sunset paints the sky crimson, like blood, as it slowly sinks from the endless mountains into the horizon.

Shui Buyun only remained unconscious for half a day before forcing himself to wake up. The moment he opened his eyes, he wanted to fight someone.

"You're being too reckless," Shu Huixin's voice rang in his ear.

Shui Buyun slowly loosened his grip on the sword, looked at Shu Huixin, and gradually calmed the restless demonic power within him.

Where are the others?

"They've already left... No way..."

Shu Huixin knew that nothing she said would quell Shui Buyun's anger, so she paused and chose to remain silent.

"Don't you have anything to say to me?" Shui Buyun suppressed his anger, his face dark.

“He…is Wang Rongku.” Shu Huixin spoke slowly and carefully, “I know you’re furious right now, but—”

"Why are you stopping me?" Shui Buyun interrupted her, ignoring her. "Do you think I'm no match for him, so you don't want me to go and die? In your opinion, you're protecting me, but have you considered my feelings? You're just watching him threaten you, have you thought about me?"

As he finished speaking, Shui Buyun felt his blood churn, and he coughed up another mouthful of blood. He gritted his teeth and asked, "Am I really that unworthy of your trust?"

"Do you expect me to watch you die? What do you want to prove with your death? That you are more important to me than he is?" Shu Huixin rarely got angry. In all these years, this was the first time Shui Buyun had ever seen Shu Huixin angry, and he was stunned for a moment.

He was stunned for a moment, only to hear the last sentence, "He is more important to her than that Wang Rongku." Immediately, the anger in his heart vanished, and he even felt a little happy.

"Fine, you said he hasn't fully recovered yet, I'll go kill him right now." With that, he picked up his sword and headed out.

"Come back!" Shu Huixin was so exasperated by his childlike personality that she couldn't even get angry. The vines suddenly blocked his way. "He's different from me. Don't you want to know why?"

Shui Buyun paused, vaguely remembering what Wang Rongku had said: the demonic gu in Shu Huixin's body was stronger than his, and that Shu Huixin had completely controlled the demonic gu.

"I'll tell you the reason, because of you."
