Chapter 41 Men are like clothes
"What's wrong?" Ning Che asked while drinking bird's nest from a bowl.
I could tell something was wrong with her from the phone call, but I didn't expect it to be this bad.
The first time Lizzie saw him, she rushed over and started crying before she could even stand still.
"You are so heartless! I am in this state, and you still have the mood to eat."
Ning Che was not as concerned and flustered as his aunt and housekeeper Li.
He had guessed it from the time he listened to the phone call, and seeing her in person in such a horrible state, he was even more certain of his guess.
A rich lady who grew up in a pampered and spoiled family is fearless except that she is afraid that men don't love her.
Nothing special, just a delicate flower in a greenhouse.
Ning Che calmly finished the last mouthful of bird's nest, his cheeks puffed up as he said slowly, "That guy doesn't like you?"
"Waaaaa——" Tears flowed down her cheeks like a flood, sparkling and glistening.
Li Zi was standing next to Ning Che, like a primary school student complaining to the teacher. Her voice was hoarse but loud, as if she wanted to pour out all her grievances.
"That man said he didn't like me and hoped our relationship would just be a partnership. He said he wouldn't forget our kindness when his business took off."
"I even catered to his preferences and dressed so nicely to meet him."
"ungrateful!"
"All men are bad!"
Lizzie raised her neck and howled, and Ning Che was so annoyed that he wanted to cover his ears.
He really didn't understand. Men are like clothes. When you take off one, you can always get the next one. Isn't it the greatest blessing for a person to have enough arms and legs to eat and wear warm clothes every day?
Degrading yourself for a man is pure sickness!
Ning Che picked up the jam bread, tore it in half, and stuffed the piece in his right hand into Lizi's howling mouth.
“Woo!”
"Shut up!" He stuffed the piece of food in his left hand into his own mouth, frowned, and looked very impatient.
It really affected my mood for breakfast. I should have known not to let her come. He kicked the chair next to him and motioned Lizzie to sit down.
"I'll beat you up if you cry again!"
"Um!"
Others' threats were mostly just threats. But Li Zi had seen and felt Ning Che's brutality and skills firsthand, so she had no doubt about the truth of his words.
She immediately fell silent and sat obediently on the chair, her back straight, her hands on her knees, chewing bread in her mouth, not daring to make any chewing sounds, listening to Ning Che's teachings very seriously.
After a heart-shattering wail, Ning Che lost interest in enjoying the meal. He casually picked up a fig and held it in his hand. He turned slightly to Lizi and said, "From now on, I can't bear to hear you cry. Go wash your face now and come back to talk."
"Okay!" Lizi nodded with sobs, but she didn't move. Her eyes, redder than a rabbit's, stared blankly at Ning Che.
Ning Che raised his eyebrows impatiently and looked at her. Li Zi whispered, "I haven't eaten since yesterday morning. I'm almost having hypoglycemia from hunger. Leave a piece of your bread for me."
Everyone: ...
Ning Che waved her off to the first-floor guest room to wash up. Auntie went to her room to find pajamas for Lizi. Butler Li went to the kitchen to prepare bird's nest and fry bread.
A leisurely and peaceful morning breakfast was completely ruined. Ning Che threw the bread back onto the plate, curled up one leg on the chair and sighed.
What happened today? Why is everything so unlucky? First, Fu Chengyun forcefully woke me up, and then Li Zi cried until I was deafened and my ears tinnitus.
He would have to check the almanac later to find a solution.
When Lizzie walked out of the guest room wearing her aunt's pajamas, she was already tidying up.
Her oval face, as small as a palm, was fair and clean, and her long chestnut-brown hair was tied into a bun on top of her head. She was wearing a light blue cotton pajamas with small flowers, which made her look quite calm.
A new breakfast was placed on the table, exactly the same as Ning Che's. The coconut milk bird's nest exuded a fresh aroma, rising from the white porcelain bowl.
Without any need for Butler Li to be polite, Li Zi went straight to the dining table, grabbed the spoon and gobbled it up.
Even while eating, she cried, tears as big as beans falling silently from her red and swollen eyes. She looked miserable and pitiful.
Someone who doesn't know the situation might think she had suffered some great injustice.
Ning Che scoffed at this.
He waited for her to eat without saying a word, and asked his aunt to bring a glass of warm water and tissues.
Lizzie ate and cried by herself.
But in Ning Che's indifferent and bottomless cold eyes, no matter how sad she was, she didn't dare to cry out.
Fortunately, sweets have a soothing power. By the time she finished showing off her breakfast and leaned back in her chair, stroking her round belly, the feeling of mortal injustice had subsided considerably with the release of dopamine.
At least he can speak human language.
She looked at Ning Che and stammered, "In this state, I don't even dare to go home. I've been staying in the hotel until now. If you hadn't taken me in, I would have cried to death."
Ning Che was tired and didn't want to talk. He just gave her a look to continue.
When someone listened, she started to feel aggrieved again. Pulling Ning Che's arm that was resting on his knee, she pouted and said, "If he doesn't like me, he could have just told me the first day we met. First he was being hypocritical and ambiguous with me. Then as soon as my family's funds arrived, he immediately cut ties with me. What kind of person is that!"
"Big scumbag!"
The fingers on his knees moved, and Ning Che muttered to himself: "So this is called a scumbag?"
I can’t count how many times I quarreled with Fu Chengyun. Fu Chengyun had a deadpan face and yelled that he was a scumbag.
Although Ning Che's eyes were on Lizi, they gradually became empty.
He suddenly laughed, thinking that "scumbag" was some vicious curse, but it turned out to be just a term for promiscuity.
Ning Che shook his head with a smile on his face, thinking: Fu Chengyun is really stupid. He's already scolding me but he still refuses to be harsher.
Li Zi was annoyed for no reason. She slapped Ning Che's arm and said dissatisfiedly: "Why are you like this? I'm so sad, and you're still laughing at me!"
"I'm laughing at you because you're stupid!" Ning Che reacted quickly and evaded the question casually.
He didn't want to confess that you were crying in front of me, but I was thinking of you, Brother Cheng Yun!
"Yeah, I was stupid enough to fall for this scumbag!" Lizzie punched the back of the chair in anger. "How do you tell me how we can get revenge on him?"
"How to retaliate? Of course, send a few bodyguards to his house to beat him up!" Ning Che glanced at Lizi and deliberately teased her.
Li Zi heard his teasing and scratched her head in embarrassment. She chuckled and pulled Ning Che to play nice. "Then I know I was wrong, and you've forgiven me. Aren't we good friends?"
Ning Che didn't want to argue about who was the turtle, he just wanted to get rid of this annoying little crybaby as soon as possible.
He stuffed the crushed fig into Liz's hand, his eyes far-reaching. "Of course, revenge is to destroy someone's heart. He rejected you, so he expected you to be devastated. The more pain you suffer, the more it satisfies his vanity."
"If you do the opposite, and let him see that you don't care about his rejection at all, and one leaves and a whole bunch of them come, all taller, more powerful, more handsome, and more considerate than him, while you're just enjoying the sight of all the girls. Then he'll be the one hiding and crying."
