Chapter 60: Always Breaking His Boundaries Again and Again
After sending the wolf cub to Fozhuang and entrusting it to Ruirui's mother's care, Su Rui returned to Fahua Temple under the moonlight.
As soon as I got out of the carriage, I saw the little bald Huiming and the Black Bodhisattva, one man and one cat, standing in front of the mountain gate with lanterns, looking eagerly.
Seeing her getting out of the car, Huiming hurriedly pushed the lantern in his hand forward, and the light illuminated Su Rui's figure.
After confirming that it was her who came back, Huiming ran over with his two short legs. Unfortunately, two legs were no match for four legs. Black Bodhisattva flew a few steps, jumped nimbly, and easily jumped into Su Rui's arms.
He meowed twice in a tone of accusation and worry, as if asking her where she had gone.
"Female donor, why did you come back just now? Your body hasn't recovered yet. The abbot said that you need to recuperate well for at least three months!" Huiming stretched out three small hands, and deliberately stretched them in front of her for fear that Su Rui couldn't see.
There was a thin layer of mist on his bald head, which meant he must have been waiting here for more than an hour.
Su Rui didn't expect that someone would be waiting for her and worried about her. The feeling of not having seen her for who knows how many years made her unable to adapt all of a sudden, and she didn't know how to react for a moment.
Seeing that she didn't answer, Huiming thought she simply wasn't going to listen. He pouted angrily, then ignored everything else and reached out to grab her sleeve, pulling her inside. "It's autumn now, and the nights are cold. While Mr. Yunji has gone to Wangyue Peak and hasn't noticed yet, come back with me to the Zen room and rest."
"Wangyue Peak? Isn't it the temple of Fahua Temple?" Su Rui asked. She remembered that the head monk in the temple said that although Wangyue Peak was not far away, there was no temple on it, only a small building.
Huiming shook his head. "No, that's a place only Mr. Yunji can go. Someone from the palace brought him a box, and he went to Wangyue Peak."
A place only Yunji can go?
Doesn't that mean...
"You can't go." Zhuiyue, who was supposed to park the carriage, said something out of nowhere.
"Didn't Yun Ji tell me not to go?" Su Rui turned around and asked.
Zhuiyue didn't answer.
Yun Ji indeed did not explain.
"That's it. Now he won't stop me. He'll let me follow him anywhere. Just because you can't go doesn't mean I can't go. Besides, I made an appointment with him today to return the jade token tonight. He still went there, didn't he just let me go find him?"
Zhuiyue had been trained as a secret guard since he was young. All he learned were tracking, investigation, hunting, protection, and loyalty to his master. He had not learned anything else and could not react to the twists and turns in Su Rui's words.
I just feel that it sounds like that is the case.
"Wangyue Peak is very high, your body..."
"You're still young and don't understand. Being with Mr. Yunji is the best way for me to recuperate." Su Rui said jokingly as she handed the black Buddha statue in her arms to Huiming. She raised her hand and wiped the mist off his bald head with her sleeve. She patted him and said, "Alright, go back to sleep now, or you won't grow taller."
After she finished speaking, without waiting for the two to react, she took the lantern from Huiming's hand, turned around and headed towards Wangyue Peak from the path beside the mountain gate.
Wangyue Peak is just as Huiming said, very high, the highest peak among the surrounding mountains, and the road becomes straighter as it goes up.
Su Rui was panting from the climb and felt like she couldn't even catch her breath.
She had not originally planned to meet Yun Ji at night. The day's running around was too much for her weak and frail body to bear, so she wanted to go back and have a good sleep.
But every word Huiming said told her that this was a good opportunity and should not be missed.
The things sent from the palace changed Yun Ji's mood. It must be a big deal.
Since only Yun Ji can go to Wangyue Peak, it proves that it is his private place and has special meaning to him. Here, he may be different.
What's more, Wangyue Peak's separation from Fahua Temple would make it easier for him to let go of the shackles in his heart. Who knows, with the right time, place and people, things might turn out well.
It was a great opportunity. Even if she had only her last breath, she would still climb up.
With the idea that he couldn't waste his time since he was already here, Su Rui finally supported himself with his broken body and climbed up the last stone step to the top of Wangyue Peak.
The top of the peak is not big, with only a big tree that is who knows how many years old. The tree forms a forest. There is a small building inside with the door closed and no lights on.
She approached slowly and saw that the bamboo door of the cottage was entangled with vines. It was obvious that it had not been opened for many years.
Yun Ji is not here?
After making sure she was not taking the wrong path, Su Rui walked around the small building and finally saw a familiar figure.
Yun Ji stood alone on the edge of a cliff, the biting mountain wind blew the corners of his robe into the air. He stood still, like a statue on the top of the mountain, overlooking all living beings.
But this god seemed to have been blown by the wind and snow for too long, and his back was full of sadness, which was not the emotion Yun Ji usually had.
Without waiting for Su Rui to open his mouth to call out, Yun Ji suddenly waved his hand. Su Rui only heard the sound of breaking wind, and when he saw a stone flying towards him, he had no time to dodge.
Just when the stone was only three fingers away from his eyes, Yun Ji flashed over and grabbed the flying stone with one hand, and blood immediately dripped from between his fingers.
"Why are you here?" Yun Ji's tone was filled with anger.
Su Rui was stunned as she had never seen him get angry before.
She didn't expect Yun Ji to be so angry and use such a heavy hand. The last blow was aimed at her eyes.
"I... I'm here to return the jade token to you. We agreed to return it to you at night, so no one stopped me." Su Rui took out the jade token and did not push the blame onto the secret guards.
Seeing his anger reflected in her eyes, Yun Ji turned his head away, took the jade token from her hand and said coldly: "Since it has been returned, then go back."
Yun Ji's mood today was more abnormal than expected. Even Su Rui could feel the hostility he was deliberately suppressing. Otherwise, even if he thought the person coming was a martial arts master who could break through the secret guards' defense line, he would not have attacked so cruelly.
Under such circumstances, Su Rui should have left.
However, since he rescued her after discovering that it was her, he felt differently about her.
Besides, she had come here with great difficulty, so how could she go back empty-handed?
"I'm weak now. I climbed up with great difficulty, but now I don't have the strength to go down. Sir, let me rest for a while." Su Rui blinked, looking pitiful.
Yun Ji was not moved at all. He just threw away the stone in his hand and said without hesitation: "This is not the place for you. Please leave."
The words were polite, but Su Rui could tell from the tone that if she said no, Yun Ji would "ask" her to leave the next moment.
"Sir, I was wrong today. I'm sorry that your hand was injured because of me. I'm sorry. I'll bandage it for you, so you can rest. After I'm done, I'll leave. Is that okay?"
As Su Rui spoke, she reached out to grab Yun Ji's hand.
Let’s stay here first.
Yun Ji knew what she was thinking. He really didn't feel like interacting with her at the moment. He took back his hand and was about to send her away, but he saw her body suddenly fall down like a kite with a broken string.
Another trick of pretending to be pitiful?
Yun Ji watched Su Rui fall straight down. Seeing that she was only half an arm's height from the ground and she didn't move at all, he realized something was wrong and reached out to pick her up.
I felt the heat as soon as I touched her.
Even through two layers of clothing, her body temperature was alarmingly high.
Yun Ji reached out and touched her forehead, which was scorching hot.
She had a fever, and must have had it for some time.
At this moment, the wind was strong at the top of the mountain, and the night road down the mountain was still cold. He had no other clothes, and the secret guards were all at the bottom of the mountain. Su Rui's current body could not bear to go down the mountain directly.
If left untreated, the high fever would kill her overnight.
Looking at Su Rui who had completely lost consciousness, Yun Ji was not even sure if she had deliberately given herself a high fever so that he could not bear to see her die without helping.
But he really couldn't bear to watch her die, and he felt that she was his own calamity, always breaking his boundaries again and again.
After hesitating for a moment, Yun Ji finally picked up Su Rui and pushed open the door that had been blocked by vines for many years.
