Chapter 10 Sitting in His Chest
By Thursday afternoon, just before the end of the workday, Bo Wei had barely managed to put together a less-than-satisfactory document.
She first sent the message to Assistant Jiang, and then knocked on his office door.
Jiang Chengli, seeing it was her, asked with some confusion, "What's wrong?"
The Li Group must be a very ruthless workplace; there isn't much time or patience for someone to grow slowly here.
So when she knocked on the door, Bo Wei was still a little hesitant.
"Assistant Jiang, I'm not very satisfied with what I've compiled, but I don't know how to improve it. Could you take a look and give me some pointers? I'll work overtime tonight to revise it."
Jiang Chengli glanced at her, somewhat surprised that she had come to him to ask to work overtime.
Simple-minded and ambitious, it's hard to say whether to call it slightly foolish or wise beyond its years.
Such a person is likely to be easily bullied and suffer losses in the workplace.
However, he doesn't dislike it.
"It's okay. You've only been working for two or three days, and I didn't expect you to do everything by yourself. I've already prepared a copy, and I'll send it to you later. You can check it yourself when you have time."
Bo Wei was somewhat surprised and delighted. "Assistant Jiang, this is wonderful!"
"Thank you, Assistant." Bo Wei smiled faintly, like a flower blooming in spring, bright and dazzling.
Jiang Chengli stared blankly for a moment, then, realizing that the flower already had an owner, he quickly snapped back to reality and waved his hand, "It's almost time to get off work, go tidy up, there's nothing else to do today."
"good."
...
The meeting started at 9:30, but by 8:00 the venue was already packed with people.
The main purpose of the government's initiative to convene this meeting is clear to everyone: to enable large corporations to drive the development of small and medium-sized enterprises and promote rapid urban development through cooperation.
In other words, this is a windfall for small and medium-sized enterprises. Why don't they hurry up and pack their bags and come here right away? What are they waiting for?
However, for major corporations, attending chambers of commerce is a way of giving face to the government. After all, to be a conscientious enterprise, one must ensure mutual support between the enterprise and the government.
Small and medium-sized enterprises are all here, but the group leaders that everyone is eagerly awaiting are still on their way.
"Mr. Huo, that looks like Mr. Li's car up ahead." At the fork in the road, the driver recognized the car merging into the road ahead.
In the back seat, a man with captivating eyes turned to look.
"Go up and say hello."
The driver glanced in the rearview mirror; Mr. Huo looked amused, like a mischievous child.
He sighed inwardly. If he got punished later, he couldn't blame himself; it was President Huo's fault.
He stepped on the gas, the speed suddenly increased, and the car sped forward, chasing after the car in front.
Bo Wei sat upright and reserved, glancing sideways out of the corner of her eye.
Li He leaned back in his chair with his long legs slightly apart, his posture commanding and his eyes closed as he rested.
Even though his eyes were closed, Bo Wei felt that the moment he opened them would be the moment to strangle his prey.
And I am the one who relies on his nearest prey.
Such close proximity, a quiet carriage, and a long period of sitting still...
It was torture for her.
Then she thought about how she had only been working for two or three days and was about to attend such an event with President Li. She felt a little unsure of herself, but when she glanced at the passenger seat, she was relieved to see that Assistant President Jiang was there.
Lost in thought for a moment, the car suddenly veered to the side.
The powerful force easily flung her to the side. "Ah!"
The sudden turn of events left Bo Wei completely stunned, her mind going blank before she could even process what was happening.
Before she could react, she rolled to the other side, almost sitting halfway in President Li's lap, the pressure from the inertia pressing her heavily towards him.
It wasn't until the inertia slowly dissipated that she finally came to her senses from the shock, but when she saw President Li's cold and hard face, her face turned pale again.
She was about to get back to her seat when the car suddenly swerved towards her again.
Bo Wei felt like a ball, completely out of control, and about to roll back.
Suddenly, a hand reached out from around her waist and tightened its grip.
"Mr. Li, it was Mr. Huo who was cutting off the car," the driver hurriedly explained.
He should have been furious, but Li He couldn't muster much anger at the moment.
He was surrounded by warmth and fragrance, and his arm was wrapped around her waist, which was indeed only large enough for him to hold.
Her body was soft and fragrant.
Its calls are also very pleasant to hear...
His blood was boiling, but his face was as cold as ice, and his voice was chilling, "Drive carefully. If he wants to die, let him go first. I'll send him a wreath later."
"Yes." The driver was a little puzzled, wondering why President Li's reaction seemed a bit too indifferent.
Bo Wei snapped back to reality, her face contorted in a disheveled state.
She was afraid of death.
Li He looked down at her; she looked beautiful but pitiful.
Bo Wei's heart pounded, each beat more violent than the last.
Though her soul seemed to have left her body, she knew where she was. Seeing how grim Mr. Li's expression was, she abruptly took a step back.
But the arm around her waist was still firmly tethering her, preventing her from retreating.
Li He met her panicked gaze, calmly released his hand, and made no comment.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Li, I didn't mean to." Bo Wei returned to her seat and quickly apologized.
"fine."
Out of the corner of his eye, he caught a glimpse of a pair of snow-white thighs. He leaned slightly to one side, raised his long legs, crossed them, and looked out the window.
It was serene and solemn, making one feel unapproachable, and even more tense than when I had just closed my eyes to rest.
Bo Wei was in a state of turmoil. Although it wasn't her fault, she was the one who ended up in President Li's arms.
President Li's aloof demeanor at this moment was clearly because he was very unhappy about being offended by her, but considering that she was a woman and it wasn't intentional, he couldn't bring himself to criticize her.
But besides apologizing, there was nothing else she could do.
He could only sit up straight, becoming increasingly reserved, and grip the car door handle tightly.
Looking down, she realized that her skirt had ridden up quite a bit in the chaos, so she quickly tugged at it.
I checked my clothes again and finally tidied my hair.
"Huh?" Huo Ran looked at the car behind her in confusion. Li He's reaction today was strange.
When did you become so polite, actually obediently letting others pass?
The driver also felt that Mr. Li's reaction today was strange. Mr. Li is not the type to be bullied. He thought the driver would have to fight him, but he gave way so easily.
"This is boring." Huo Ran turned back to look ahead, her eyes lighting up again.
"Is that Lu Xianzong's carriage up ahead?"
The driver recognized him for a moment, hesitated, and then nodded, "Yes, Mr. Huo."
"Let's go say hello."
The driver was sweating profusely. Offending two people in one day, Mr. Huo, you've really had your fill of good times.
Is today your day of excitement, coming out early in the morning to provoke these two devils?
"Let's go, what are we waiting for?"
driver:……
For the sake of wages!
He slammed on the gas pedal.
Fortunately, there weren't many cars on this road, otherwise it would definitely have been trending on social media.
Lu Xianzong's car swayed, but his expression remained unchanged. "What happened?"
"It's President Huo," the driver immediately replied.
"ill."
"Mr. Lu, what should we do?"
“I’m not his father, why should I spoil him?”
The driver understood.
