Chapter 125 Visiting Grandpa Ji

Chapter 125 Visiting Grandpa Ji

The three entered the house.

Grandpa Ji, lying in bed, had been craning his neck and eagerly waiting for the sounds outside.

He slept soundly until dawn, and when he heard that his grandson had come to visit him last night, he felt very remorseful.

Bo Wei was led into the room by Ji's mother and saw Ji's grandfather sitting on the bed with a kind smile on his face.

Ji Mingxiu took a long stride, walked past the two of them, put down what he was holding, and called out with a smile, "Grandpa."

Grandpa Ji looked at him with smiling eyes, "Hey."

"Weiwei has come to see you," he said with a smile, introducing Bo Wei.

Bo Wei let go of Ji's mother's hand, walked over to Ji Mingxiu's side, and greeted Ji's grandfather gently, "Grandpa, are you feeling better? How are you feeling today?"

Grandpa Ji smiled and nodded, "Good, you seem to be in good spirits. How about your health?"

"I'm feeling much better now, thank you for thinking of me, Grandpa."

"Oh, that's good. When you're healthy, everything is fine." Remembering something, she quickly asked, "Have you had breakfast? If not, ask Mingxiu to take you to eat."

"I've eaten," Bo Wei said with a smile. She was a little unsure of what to say; she had come to visit the elderly, but she didn't know how to speak.

“We’ve already eaten, and we’ve packed some for you too. Grandpa, you can eat some too, it’s light.” Ji Mingxiu picked up a bowl of rice noodles and handed it to his mother, then set up a table on the bed.

Mrs. Ji, holding a bowl of rice noodles, led Bo Wei to the sofa. "Sit down, don't stand. Did you eat enough this morning? Would you like some more?"

Bo Wei shook her head, "I can't eat anymore, Auntie, you eat quickly."

Mrs. Ji placed the fruit platter in front of her and said with a smile, "Then have some fruit, sweetie."

“Okay.” While eating her rice noodles, Mrs. Ji took the initiative to start a conversation with her.

A short while later, Ji Mingxiu's father also arrived.

Knowing that Bo Wei was coming, Ji's mother kept urging him to come.

He's a businessman, quite eloquent, and easygoing.

The family treated her warmly and politely.

This caused Bo Wei's sense of guilt to continue to rise.

Not long after we started talking, we heard a sound coming from outside, footsteps mixed with voices.

Bo Wei looked towards the door and saw several doctors walking in with brisk steps.

She thought it would be like the two days Ji Mingxiu was hospitalized before, with seven or eight people coming in.

As a result, the room was packed with people coming in.

That's not all yet; there are still people standing in the hallway outside!

When the doctors came in, they glanced around the room and noticed two extra people.

Their gazes fell on Ji Mingxiu and Bo Wei.

What a striking pair!

Bo Wei shrank into a corner, wondering if she should go out and make room for everyone. These people all seemed very eager to learn, as if they had received some rare learning opportunity.

But they found they couldn't get out at all; it was too crowded.

Ji Mingxiu and she were squeezed into a corner. They looked at each other and saw the strange look in each other's eyes.

These people clearly distinguish themselves as instructors and learners.

The men in the middle, who appeared to be highly respected, examined and assessed Grandpa Ji's condition, explaining the symptoms and their causes as they did so...

The room was filled with people listening respectfully, their attitudes toward learning were very upright.

During a typical round of ward rounds, they'll ask a few questions and then leave.

But Bo Wei was on the outside, listening to them ask very detailed questions, using every measuring tool she could find.

There even seemed to be a psychologist present, asking some psychological questions.

Bo Wei studied psychology in college and is quite familiar with some of the terminology.

They've taken care of everything, from physical to mental health. This must be a healthy team, right?

These people all spoke Mandarin, with accents leaning towards the north. When Grandpa Ji spoke, the man wearing the dean's badge actively translated for them.

The doctors stayed in the ward for quite a while before leaving.

Before leaving, the group of highly respected doctors in the middle all glanced in Bo Wei's direction.

Bo Wei nodded slightly and silently and respectfully saw her off.

At the same time, it's a bit inexplicable...

After everyone left, the ward returned to normal.

Bo Wei sat down again with Ji's mother.

As Mrs. Ji peeled an apple, she asked her, "Weiwei came back yesterday, and then came to see Grandpa again this morning. When are you planning to go back? Should we have Mingxiu drive you there?"

This is a difficult question to answer.

In the eyes of the Ji family, her return this time was almost equivalent to her visiting Grandpa Ji as Ji Mingxiu's fiancée.

She said she didn't want to go back, worried that they would think she didn't want Ji Mingxiu to come to her house, and thus guess the state of their relationship.

Going back to the point, she really had no intention of lying; she couldn't bring herself to do it.

“Her family members are all away, she just came back to see her grandfather,” Ji Mingxiu interjected at the opportune moment.

Are your parents not home?

The Ji family remained silent for a moment, still thinking of urging Mingxiu to bring something to visit them. They had been getting along for over a year, and the two families lived not far apart. Since the relationship was stable, they couldn't just keep hiding from each other.

Ji's parents visited Bo Wei before, but only stayed for one day and didn't have a chance to learn more about her family's situation.

Ji Mingxiu didn't tell them much, so he didn't know about her relationship with her family.

We'll have to wait until Chinese New Year to see.

"Oh, is that so? Then I'll ask Mingxiu to take you around for a few days. It's a rare holiday, after all. Grandpa has this group of doctors now, so it's all good. Don't worry."

Grandpa Ji immediately chimed in, "Yes, just seeing me makes me happy. You all should go have fun. You work hard, so take advantage of your holiday to relax."

Bo Wei felt a little tormented, wondering how they would feel when they found out the truth. She was sure they would be very disappointed in her.

Although she couldn't be in a romantic relationship with Ji Mingxiu, the kindness his family had shown her was real, and she didn't want to ruin the relationship.

A morning goes by pretty quickly.

Most of the time, everyone chatted about light topics from time to time, and with Ji Mingxiu present, the atmosphere was relatively harmonious.

Around noon, the Ji family urged Ji Mingxiu to take her to lunch.

Ji Mingxiu took the keys and got up.

Bo Wei took out two red envelopes from her bag and walked to the bedside. "Grandpa, this is ten thousand yuan. When I was sick before, you gave me all your savings. I've always remembered it."

She had previously mixed this money with the others and returned it to Ji Mingxiu along with them.

However, Ji Mingxiu doesn't keep accounts, and he probably doesn't even know how much he spent on himself.

He handed over another red envelope, saying, "This is also ten thousand yuan, it's my way of showing respect to Grandpa. Remember to buy him some good food when he gets better."

The 20,000 yuan gave Grandpa a huge fright.

I was thinking of giving more, but after thinking it over, I decided against it; 10,000 seemed reasonable.

"No way!" He was so excited he almost jumped up.

During his hospitalization, he did receive visits from relatives, each bringing a small token of their appreciation, such as three to five hundred yuan.

Twenty thousand yuan is indeed quite astonishing.

Ji Mingxiu and his parents immediately stepped forward, and together they persuaded him to decline.

Bo Wei stubbornly stuffed the red envelope into Grandpa Ji's hand, saying, "I just want to show my respect to Grandpa. He's been so good to me, and I have no other way to repay him."

In the end, Ji Mingxiu compromised, "Grandpa, please accept it. It's Weiwei's token of her affection."

Grandpa then accepted the money with trembling hands. It was ten thousand yuan, the first time he had ever received such a large sum of money.

I was deeply moved; this young girl was truly honest and generous.
