Chapter 46 Small Umbrella, Heavy Rain

Chapter 46 Small Umbrella, Heavy Rain

After having lunch at the villa, Bo Wei left with Li He without even resting.

The car was parked outside a residential area.

Bo Wei was a little puzzled. She got out of the car, looked around, and had some guesses in her mind.

This kind of neighborhood is clearly not one of the residences of someone like President Li, and of course, it's not where he works.

They must be here to see someone, but choosing a weekday suggests that this person is likely related to Mr. Li's work.

People who work with President Li should be busy on weekdays, so why would they be at home?

“Put the things in the trunk and come inside with me,” Li He said to her.

Bo Wei nodded, opened the trunk, and saw two high-grade nutritional supplements placed there.

Visiting a patient?

Li He walked in front, followed by Bo Wei, as they headed into the residential area.

The neighborhood is lush with green trees and very clean. A cat was taking a nap under a tree. Hearing the footsteps of two people, it slightly opened its eyes and looked up. Seeing that it was two bored humans, it lazily closed its eyes again and lay back down.

Bo Wei followed behind, and unexpectedly heard the female voice of the navigation system coming from President Li's phone, "Turn right..."

She looked at President Li's back; he was handsome, tall, and an outstanding elite. The navigation voice came from his hand, which was a bit of an unexpected charm.

I walked into a building, went upstairs, and came to a door.

Li He knocked on the door with his fingers, and the door was quickly opened.

A woman opened the door. When she saw Li He, her eyes flashed with amazement, but she also smiled reservedly, took two steps back to let him in, and said in a soft voice, "Mr. Li is here. Please come in."

Li He nodded slightly to her. "Is Minister Li here?"

"Yes, I'm in the study reading."

Li He nodded and walked inside.

Bo Wei followed closely behind, and nodded politely to the woman holding the door frame, "Hello."

The woman saw her, subtly sized her up, and said with a slight smile, "Hello."

After closing the door, he strode forward and spoke to Li He, "Please sit down. I'll knock on the door. My dad doesn't like to be disturbed, so he always keeps the door closed when he's in his study."

Li He nodded, but did not sit down. Instead, he looked around the room.

Bo Wei also looked around. The room was simply furnished, and the furniture was old-fashioned, but it was clean and tidy, and had a rustic feel to it.

She placed the nutritional supplements she was holding on a prominent table.

The woman knocked on the door. "Dad, Mr. Li is here."

A middle-aged man's voice came from inside, "Okay!"

Soon, footsteps were heard from inside, the study door opened, and a man who looked to be around fifty years old came out.

He was rather thin, with sharp eyes, but his face looked somewhat sickly.

Seeing Li He, he smiled. "I was reading just now, and a cool breeze blew into the room from the window, which dissipated most of the heat. My legs are a bit numb from sitting all day. How about we go for a walk outside?"

Li He's expression was respectful towards his elders. "Of course, but what about your health?"

"I'm fine. I've been going for a walk after dinner these past few days. It's just that with today's weather, it looks like it's going to rain this evening. Now is a good time to go out and enjoy the cool breeze."

Li He nodded naturally, "I'd be happy to oblige."

...

The sun was shining this morning, but now it's cloudy.

A summer breeze swept through the open park, bringing a refreshing coolness to Bowei in the sweltering heat.

She looked ahead and saw President Li and Minister Li walking in front, while she and Minister Li's daughter followed slowly behind.

"I didn't expect you to come to see me." The Li Group is a leading enterprise with a solid and unshakeable position.

He had met his father a few times before, but this was the first time he had met him.

"I'm sorry to have disturbed your rest."

Minister Li laughed generously, "No, it's just that President Li seems to be a shrewd person. He's probably in the wrong place to come and visit me, a patient."

Li He remained expressionless and said, "When I contacted Miss Li, I asked a few more questions about your condition. It just so happens that I have an uncle named Li Qiuping who has done in-depth research on this disease abroad. If you are willing, you can leave the matter of assembling a medical team to me."

Minister Li's expression changed upon hearing this. Li Qiuping!

Doctors in China said they had little chance of treating his illness, but in their private conversations, he heard them mention the name Li Qiuping several times!

At this moment, Minister Li's heart was no longer at peace. He felt his heart skip a beat when he heard the name Li Qiuping, and then it began to beat more and more violently.

He knew that it was his desire to live.

But being in a high position, he naturally understands that there is no such thing as a free lunch.

He suppressed his desire and slowly regained his composure. But after all, he was just an ordinary person, and how could he remain indifferent in the face of life and death?

No matter how hard he tried to suppress it, he couldn't suppress that longing.

"Since we've come this far, Mr. Li, please speak frankly. But since you've come to me, you must know my style."

Li He merely smiled slightly, "Businessmen certainly won't get up early for nothing, but Minister Li needn't worry too much. It's precisely because I know Minister Li's style of doing things that I wanted to discuss the future of new energy with him..."

Actually, for the group, even if Minister Li is on sick leave, there is still Minister Wang; it doesn't matter who you contact.

However, in the long run, Li He has his own plans.

First of all, Minister Li is now fifty years old, and barring any unforeseen circumstances, he will remain in this position until retirement.

Secondly, Minister Li is a man of great courage and not someone who can be easily manipulated. Compared to Vice Minister Wang's hypocrisy, Li He prefers to deal with people like him.

One last point: the debt of saving a life is greater than heaven.

By combining kindness and gratitude, you're sure to gain a good friend.

Bo Wei listened attentively from behind, taking all the useful information to heart.

She admits that as a secretary, she is still in the early stages of learning, but growth takes time. She is working hard and believes that one day she will be able to take flight.

"Are you President Li's secretary?"

Bo Wei's listening was interrupted. She turned to look at Li Yawen and nodded, "Yes."

Li Yawen smiled and glanced at her from head to toe. "Is it required for secretaries at the Li Group to dress so elegantly?"

The cut and design are so perfect, it's like it was tailor-made for me, not like a cheap item I just bought casually.

Bo Wei: "The group has relatively strict requirements."

“It’s normal for the Li Group to be strict, but your outfit certainly gives them a lot of face.”

"What I'm wearing? It's just work clothes. Everyone in our office has five sets."

Li Yawen looked at her clothes again, confirming that the clothes themselves were exquisite and not ordinary work clothes. When she saw the familiar logo on the button, a hint of surprise flashed in her eyes.

"President Li is really generous to you all," she said with a sigh. "My father's illness this time has terrified me so much that I can't eat or sleep. I was at a loss, but I didn't expect President Li to appear at this time."

She looked at Bo Wei as she spoke, "Like a hero, have you ever experienced this feeling?"

Bo Wei felt as if she had returned to the days when she was in the hospital, when Ji Mingxiu walked into the ward and told her that he would try to find a solution.

"have."

"Really? Then you must understand how I feel right now. You've been working alongside President Li, can you tell me what kind of person he is?"

Li Yawen's words had a deeper meaning.

Bo Wei didn't want to speculate, so she just shook her head and said, "I've only been with President Li for less than a month, so I don't know him very well yet."

Li Yawen was somewhat surprised, glanced at her, and didn't ask any more questions.

After walking for an unknown distance, Bo Wei felt some discomfort in her feet.

Snap!

A cool sensation on the tip of my nose.

Bo Wei looked up, the tree canopy blocking out the sky, and as she looked up, another raindrop fell on her eyelids.

"It's raining!" Li Yawen noticed it too.

She quickly walked forward, took an umbrella out of her bag and opened it. "Dad, go back quickly. If you get wet in the rain and catch a cold, you'll be in big trouble."

The two had finished their conversation. Minister Li smiled, looked at the large raindrops on the ground, and said to Li He, "This rain came even faster than I expected."

Li He glanced at Bo Wei, then looked away and nodded. "Then let's head back. This isn't urgent. We'll have plenty of time to discuss this with Minister Li later."

"Haha, okay, Mr. Li is young and healthy, I can't give you this umbrella."

"Minister Li, please take good care of your health."

Li Ya-wen held an umbrella and followed beside her father, the two of them leading the way.

Bo Wei took a parasol out of her bag and handed it to Li He, "Mr. Li, here's the parasol."

Li He looked at the umbrella she handed him, took it, opened it, walked to her side, and held it over her head. "Let's go."

Bo Wei looked up at the umbrella and subconsciously followed President Li's steps forward.

The rain grew heavier, pattering against the leaves and quickly soaking the ground.

The umbrella was small, but the rain was heavy.

Bo Wei's steps became unsteady, her calves stepping forward, brushing against his, the smooth feeling of her stockings rubbing against his trousers was very obvious.

Bo Wei quickly adjusted her pace. Large raindrops fell on her shoulders, soaking her clothes and making them stick to her shoulders. Her feet were also already wet.

Li He glanced at her and tilted the umbrella toward her.

Bo Wei noticed this, glanced at him, and reached out to push his hand holding the umbrella a little closer. "President Li, please hold it properly, your shoulders are all wet."

Li He didn't even glance at his own shoulder. "Then move closer so you don't get too wet and catch a cold."

Bo Wei slowly moved closer to him, almost touching him as she walked.

Ahead, Li Yawen looked back and saw the two of them sharing an umbrella, walking quietly forward. The scene struck her as quite beautiful.

Unable to discern the nature of their relationship for a moment, she looked away.
