Chapter 56 Taking Her Hand
Sunlight streams into every home, waking everyone up.
The sound of rushing water carried a refreshing coolness, gradually dispelling drowsiness.
In the mirror, her face, covered in water droplets, was clean, flawless, fair, and delicate.
Her large eyes were clear and bright, with long, fan-shaped eyelashes adorned with fine water droplets.
Bo Wei dried her face and walked back to the table in her room to sit down.
I simply applied a thin layer of olive oil to my face and blotted it away with a tissue.
Then I started applying makeup.
Because of the essential oil base, the foundation adheres very well to the face.
Then, with a simple contouring and blush, her features were defined, but the touch-up made her look even more refined and sophisticated.
Her eyebrows are excellent, but she still filled them in simply so they would blend better with her makeup.
Choose a light-colored eyeshadow as a base, then carefully blend and layer a cool brown, followed by a light blend of dark brown at the outer corner of the eye. Finally, use your fingertip to gently apply a layer of ultra-fine shimmer to your eyelid.
I quickly curled my eyelashes with an eyelash curler, deftly applied false eyelashes, and lightly drew a line at the outer corner of my eye with an eyeliner pencil. My eye makeup was complete.
With the final makeup application, today's look—a cool and slightly smoky makeup—is complete.
After finishing the drawing, Bo Wei briefly looked in the mirror and began to change her clothes.
A white shirt with a ribbon tied at the side around the neck, the hem tucked into a black and white striped pencil skirt with a front slit, creating a modern look that combines strength and softness.
Finally, remove the headband, comb your hair smoothly, and put it up in a bun at the back of your head.
She looked clean and sophisticated, radiant with energy!
Open the door.
Ji Mingxiu sat on the sofa.
He stood up, turned around with a smile, and was stunned for a moment.
He works for the same company, but his job is monotonous and the only dress requirement is that he be clean and tidy.
Bo Wei, however, seemed like a model walking the runway on a world-class stage.
The two are not on the same level at all.
Ji Mingxiu shook his head and smiled helplessly.
"These clothes?" They have a similar high-quality feel to her previous two work outfits.
Bo Wei glanced down at the items, "They were also issued by the company, five sets for each person, me..."
A strange thought suddenly flashed into my mind.
Others have five sets, she has ten. Is it because of President Li's personal...?
"Um?"
"I'm a bit special; I have ten sets. This actually proves that what I told you last time was true—it's embarrassing to go out like this." That's true, but there's a very small chance that President Li's favoritism is also real.
Ji Mingxiu's lips curled into a silent smile for a moment. Is that really the case?
Although the logo of the international high-end luxury brand on the belt was understated, he still spotted it at a glance.
This must be haute couture. What company would provide a new secretary with ten haute couture outfits?
He put his mind at ease. "Don't overthink it. Let's go to work."
The incident that went viral happened yesterday. The two were worried that there might be bloggers who specialize in filming gossip on the subway, so they took a taxi to work.
As the two got into the car, the driver kept glancing to the side out of the corner of his eye.
This caught Ji Mingxiu's attention. "Master, what are you looking at?"
Bo Wei had just sat down when she stopped and looked at the driver, a middle-aged man.
The driver was a little embarrassed and touched his nose. "I'm sorry, I've never picked up two such good-looking passengers before. Please take a look."
Ji Mingxiu glanced at him but said nothing.
Upon arriving at the company, the two got out of the car and walked towards the company entrance.
“You need to be more careful when taking a taxi alone in the future, especially at night,” Ji Mingxiu said worriedly.
Bo Wei nodded. "Okay."
Around noon, Bo Wei finally completed the task that President Li had assigned her and sent the electronic file to President Li's email address.
Soon, the approval was received: Come up.
Knowing that the documents she had just submitted had been rejected, Bo Wei hurriedly grabbed her notebook and went upstairs.
He knocked on the door, went in, and stood in front of the desk. "President Li."
She soon discovered that she felt very reserved when she was alone with President Li at the beginning.
But as she spent more time with him over the past few weeks, she gradually adapted and relaxed.
But now, she's back to where she was before, even more so than just reserved; she's also filled with worry.
In the adult world, one way to maintain dignity is to see through things but not say anything.
What she was worried about was when her secret would be exposed.
Li He looked up at her and gently tapped the table. "Come here."
She couldn't tell what Mr. Li's mood was from his tone.
Bo Wei looked up, hesitated for a moment, and walked to Li He's side. Her eyes swept across the computer screen and she saw the information she had just sent. She stood quietly, like a student waiting for the homeroom teacher to speak, feeling somewhat uneasy.
Li He moved his chair aside, not looking at her, but beckoning her with his finger. "The table is very clear, and each item is well-defined, but a few key things are missing..."
Bo Wei bent down and leaned closer to listen attentively. She had to admit that her abilities were clearly not yet sufficient for this position, and there was so much she needed to learn. She felt extremely insecure.
She had been thinking about something for several days, but President Li could give her key suggestions for modification and point out the fatal flaws in just a few minutes.
The reason why President Li was so patient in talking to her was probably because...
Bo Wei didn't have time to think too much; her hands kept moving as she quickly jotted down a few keywords in her notebook.
As I put down my pen, I felt a moment of silence and a burning gaze upon me.
Li He was looking at her intently.
Bo Wei met his gaze but quickly looked away, straightening her back as if nothing had happened. "Then, Mr. Li, I'll go down and revise it first. I'll send it to you as soon as I'm done so you can take a look."
Li He leaned back in his chair, his entire demeanor instantly changing, a stark contrast to his serious expression when he was discussing important matters with her earlier.
He moved his chair back a bit, rested his head on the back of the chair, and looked at her with an air of nonchalance.
My gaze followed her arm to her hand, and I reached out to hook her hand that was hanging by her side.
The movement was natural, as if he had held her hand a thousand times.
Just as they were about to hook each other, Bo Wei, seemingly unaware, took a step back and gave a slight bow, saying, "President Li, I'll take my leave now."
Li He didn't speak, but tilted his head to look at his empty hand, then turned to look at her elegant back, his eyes thoughtful.
Bo Wei's composure crumbled abruptly as she stepped out the door.
She took a deep breath, feeling a surge of worries welling up inside her.
Going downstairs, I found the office bustling with activity, as if they were discussing a topic that everyone was interested in.
Bo Wei raised an eyebrow curiously and asked Wendi, "What are you all talking about?"
Before Wendy could answer, Xu Xiangying called out to her loudly, "Weiwei, it's Zhou Yang's birthday today. Let's have dinner together after get off work."
Bo Wei glanced at Zhou Yang, who invited her, "Are you free tonight? Everyone's going."
Bo Wei hesitated, but she couldn't afford to hesitate.
Go, should we prepare a birthday present? She's afraid she won't be able to come up with a decent gift.
If she doesn't go, it would be disloyal. Even Wendi and Yu Yanming, who have children, went. If she makes an excuse not to go, she will seem very unsociable.
She smiled and nodded. "I'm free."
Zhou Yang's phone beeped. She glanced at it, then looked up and said, "After dinner, let's go to Yaoxiang Pavilion together. My friend has booked a VIP room there, and he'll cover all the expenses."
