Chapter 88: His Birthday Gift?
As soon as Li Zhiyun stepped out of the store, she couldn't wait to keep everyone in suspense.
The private pool was set up like a sports field. A lithe figure was moving forward smoothly and swiftly, arms outstretched quickly, broad shoulders and back arching with each stroke, and long legs kicking rhythmically, like an eagle soaring in the sky, full of heroic spirit, agile and powerful!
Upon reaching the shore, he broke the surface of the water, casually wiping the water off his face with his large hand, and flipped his hair back, revealing a handsome face.
Li He stepped ashore, water droplets rolling down his fair body. He had broad shoulders, a narrow waist, and long legs, and his muscular physique was both beautiful and healthy.
He grabbed a towel and casually wiped his hair and body before bending down to pick up his phone.
I immediately saw Li Zhiyun's message: "Second sister-in-law's problem is solved. I have some good news to tell you in advance: someone just bought you a birthday present. I won't say what it is, it's a surprise. I mainly wanted to tell you that judging from my second sister-in-law's attitude, you still have a very good chance!"
Did I buy him a birthday present?
Li He frowned slightly, feeling that it was somewhat unrealistic, yet he couldn't help but feel a glimmer of anticipation.
Is it for himself? Or for that mistress?
If it's a birthday gift, then it's not impossible that it's for myself.
She'd treat all her friends who had done her small favors to a meal, but buying herself a birthday present was considered a neglect.
Thinking about it, my anticipation grew even stronger. I hadn't really looked forward to my birthday since I turned seven, so this was the first time in all these years, and it felt so new.
A beautiful smile curved her lips as she put down her phone and continued swimming.
In the afternoon, Bo Wei and the other two had dinner at a decent-looking restaurant. By the time they got home, it was completely dark.
The room was quiet; Ji Mingxiu had probably gone out for dinner.
She went back to her room, put down the clothes and bag she had bought for Ji Mingxiu, removed her makeup, washed up, and changed into a set of home clothes.
While looking at her phone, she kept an eye on the activity in the living room outside the door, waiting for Ji Mingxiu to return so she could discuss repaying the money with him.
Today's events made her finally decide to pay off her debts. As for the rest, she'd deal with it later; after all, owing someone is the same no matter who she owes them to.
Just as she finished tidying up, there was a noise outside. Bo Wei opened the door and saw Ji Mingxiu changing his shoes at the door. He was carrying his usual gym bag, so he must have just come back from the gym.
"You're back. How was dinner today?" Ji Mingxiu smiled gently, changed his shoes, hung up his bag, and walked towards her.
Bo Wei walked slowly into the living room and nodded gently. "The food was fine. There was just a small accident while we were shopping. Xi Yun and Yu Yan knocked someone else's expensive watch to the ground, and it broke. They have to pay hundreds of thousands in compensation, which scared them."
Ji Mingxiu frowned upon hearing this. "What kind of watch is so expensive? How was it resolved? It's worth hundreds of thousands. They shouldn't be able to afford that. Did you pay for it yourself?"
“No…” she briefly explained the situation.
After listening to Bo Wei's words, Ji Mingxiu was very puzzled. The stranger who delivered the surveillance video was strangely kind, even though, as they said, it was their family's shopping mall.
But I don't know exactly what's strange about it. I just feel that it's inexplicably kind, but it's not worth getting hung up on.
"Oh right, I bought you a dress today. Let me take it out so you can try it on." Bo Wei suddenly remembered and quickly went back to her room.
Ji Mingxiu felt a surge of joy. Weiwei had bought him clothes?
He sees buying clothes as a very ambiguous thing, something that usually only family members or couples would buy clothes for each other.
Looking expectantly toward her bedroom, Bo Wei quickly came out, handed him the shopping bag, and smiled at him, saying, "Try it, I don't know if you like this type."
Ji Mingxiu looked at the shopping bag. There was no obvious logo, and he didn't recognize the brand, but he felt it must be expensive.
Inside the paper bag was a box. Opening the box revealed a crisp business shirt.
Ji Mingxiu raised his eyebrows slightly, his eyes sparkling with starlight.
"How is it? Is it alright?" Bo Wei kept observing his expression.
Ji Mingxiu looked at her, his eyes overflowing with tenderness, "I really like it. Of course I like what you bought."
Bo Wei was relieved and smiled, "Then try on the size to see if it fits. It seems like we can exchange it."
Ji Mingxiu nodded, took the shirt out of the box, unfolded it, and smiled at Bo Wei, "It's obviously my size. You have a good eye."
As he spoke, he put down his shirt and took off his black T-shirt, revealing obvious signs of his workout.
Bo Wei was shocked that he would take off his clothes in front of her, and avoided his gaze.
Ji Mingxiu picked up the shirt again, put it on, and as he buttoned it, he caught a glimpse of Bo Wei's evasive gaze, a smile playing on his lips.
"How is it? Does it look good?" He buttoned up the buttons and smoothed out the folds.
Bo Wei then turned her gaze to him. He changed his training clothes at the gym, and at the moment he was wearing his usual black trousers and light blue business shirt. He seemed to have a completely different aura.
He suddenly transformed from a handsome young man into a handsome elite, a high-level talent in society.
"It looks great and suits you very well." Bo Wei praised sincerely, "It's just that the wrinkles need to be ironed. I'll iron them for you when you take it off later."
"Okay." Ji Mingxiu's voice was very gentle, and his gaze as he looked down at her was also as tender as water.
Bo Wei noticed his intense gaze out of the corner of her eye and felt a little uncomfortable, so she quickly changed the subject, "Have you had dinner yet?"
"Um."
"I'm treating everyone to dinner tomorrow, have you made the arrangements yet?"
"It's arranged."
"Thank you." She hesitated for a moment, then shared her thoughts about money with Ji Mingxiu.
After listening, Ji Mingxiu remained silent for a moment, then said, "I respect your decision. Actually, it's probably because we've always lived too honestly that we feel uneasy about turning misfortune into blessing. Why not be bolder and follow your heart?"
Bo Wei nodded. "Yes. Paying off everyone's debts is the start of a new life. You've always wanted to buy a car, and now you can do that too."
Upon hearing this, Ji Mingxiu's expression turned serious. "Weiwei, it's my own business if I want to buy a car. I'm a man. Since I can't give you a wealthy life, I at least can't be a freeloader and hold you back. You can spend or save as much money as you want, but it's not for men to squander."
Bo Wei was taken aback and remained silent for a long time before saying, "Then at least I should return the medical expenses you paid for me before. If you don't accept this money, my old life will never be over."
The two were locked in a stalemate in the living room, until Ji Mingxiu finally gave in.
The Lu family.
Lu Manqi entered the house and casually stuffed the bag in her hand into Lu Xianzong's arms, who was sitting in the living room chatting with his father.
"Why are you just throwing things around like that?" Lu Xianzong frowned in displeasure.
"Birthday present."
The father and son watched the pretty figure walk away upstairs. The middle-aged man said unhappily, "Your brother worked so hard for you on your birthday, and you can't even remember the date of your brother's birthday. Manqi, you've gone too far."
Lu Manqi stopped in her tracks, leaned on the escalator, and looked back, her eyes crinkling with a smile. "It's Li Erge's birthday, so I'm giving my brother a gift while I'm at it. I'm worried he might be envious or jealous. Is there anything wrong with that?"
After saying that, he left the father and son completely bewildered.
Lu Xianzong curiously opened the gift bag, and a navy blue vintage floral tie was revealed.
Lu Xianzong: ...
He neatly put the tie back and placed it next to the middle-aged man along with the paper bag. "Dad, since your birthday is close to Li He's, this should be a gift for you in advance."
Mr. Lu received a birthday gift out of the blue, even though his birthday was still two months away.
