Chapter 24: Buy the wedding dress, and he can live with me.
Jiang Yu smiled and felt the warmth from his palm. Shen Jiuxu rubbed his face against Jiang Yu's hand a few times. "I never said anything like that before."
"It seems that Spring Breeze Pavilion has done a good job teaching. Should I give them some silver to express my gratitude?"
"I've already given it to you," Shen Jiuxu's muffled voice came from below. "If you're going to give it to someone, it should be to me."
The two hid in the bushes, almost touching each other because the space was so small. Shen Jiuxu could clearly hear Jiang Yu's breathing. He looked so calm, unlike Shen Jiuxu, whose heart was pounding in his throat and whose whole body was burning up as if he were standing next to a stove in winter.
What exactly does he think of me? When he looks at me, is he still thinking about that nominal Daoist partner? Shen Jiuxu doesn't know if their relationship is good or not, whether they are respectful to each other or inseparable.
He hated that he had arrived too late.
Why should I give it to you?
"Did what I said make you happy?" Shen Jiuxu asked softly. He took the initiative to remove the messy grass clipped to Jiang Yu's hair, but didn't take his hand off. He loved touching Jiang Yu's hair; it was soft and smooth, unlike him. It was like a fox that had closed its fangs and was sleeping peacefully in his arms.
"It's alright, but I have urgent business to attend to and need to go back now. Where have you taken me?"
Jiang Yu looked around. It seemed to be somewhere in Shen Wuke, but unfortunately he didn't recognize it. He hadn't spent much time in Shen Wuke to begin with. If it weren't for his wrist injury requiring rest, he would still be dragging Shen Jiuxu around everywhere!
Shen Jiuxu didn't want to talk, much less send him back. The atmosphere was very quiet, with the only sound being the flapping of dragonfly wings that occasionally flew between the two.
Jiang Yu looked at him and felt a strange urge to laugh. He realized he might have taken advantage of him. If the man regained his memory and remembered this period, he might not be able to get out of bed.
"Do you want to come back with me?" He grabbed Shen Jiuxu's hand and shook it a few times, looking like a tyrannical emperor facing a charming and beloved concubine. "The disciples of Xingchenque are too noisy. You're better off staying with me."
Won't people find out he invited me back? Is he not living with that Daoist partner? Does that mean their relationship isn't good, and he still likes me?
But if he just goes back with Jiang Feiwan like this, won't it seem like he's not reserved enough? Would it be better to hesitate a bit?
"want."
Shen Jiuxu couldn't wait to give his answer. He completely forgot about his previous ideas of fighting each other and only wanted to go back with Jiang Feiwan. Even if they lived in a dilapidated thatched hut, he could immediately draw a few talismans to sell to Lian Quesheng and exchange them for some silver to buy a large courtyard house with three courtyards.
"Can you find the way?" Jiang Yu asked tentatively, like a sparrow cautiously peeking out of its nest.
Shen Jiuxu: ...?
"Am I... looking for directions?" He patted Jiang Yu's head, stared at his slightly guilty face, understood something, chuckled, and was then covered in the mouth.
A flash of silvery-white sword light streaked across the sky, accompanied by the whistling of the wind. Jiang Yu sat on the blade, gazing at the scenery below, and tugged at Chen Jiuxu's sleeve. "Over there, do you see that elm tree? It's right there."
The lush elm branches reached into the sky, and several blackbirds flew out from within, flapping their wings as they approached Jiang Yu.
"Is this your pet?"
"No." Jiang Yu shook his head in denial. The tree was planted by Shen Jiuxu, and the birds on it were more familiar with his face. As soon as he spoke, the birds all perched on Shen Jiuxu's shoulder, chirping incessantly.
So that's someone else's pet? Shen Jiuxu felt a pang of sadness, but since this bird liked him so much, Jiang Feiwan would do the same someday.
There was only one bed in the Fuyou Palace, with a soft mattress scattered haphazardly and two pillows placed on it. On a square table to one side, two celadon porcelain cups were also neatly placed. Everything was in pairs.
"Sit down!" Jiang Yu chuckled at his awkward expression. "What's wrong?"
"fine."
Shen Jiuxu gritted his teeth and said with great pain, "He's already in here, it's only a matter of time before he replaces all these things."
"You stay here, I have some things to take care of." Jiang Yu said and was about to leave when Chen Jiuxu grabbed him. "Can I come with you?"
Looking at Jiang Yu with his watery, wet eyes, he agreed without any principles. Then he started rummaging through drawers and cabinets until he took out a mask with a blue face and fangs and handed it to Shen Jiuxu.
"Take it with you, so that others don't see it."
It's one thing if it's outside, but the disciples inside Shenwuke have all seen this face before, and the elders of those sects are all here. He still doesn't know who killed Shen Jiuxu, so it's better to be cautious for now.
"Bring it!"
Jiang Yu noticed his reluctance and, in an attempt to appease him, drawled out, "It looks good on you too."
A young man dressed in black walked ahead, his plain white hair ribbon swaying in the wind. Upon seeing him, the disciples stopped what they were doing, clasped their hands in greeting, and said, "Young Master Jiang."
"Who's that with Young Master Jiang? I've never seen him before." A man practicing swordsmanship stood under a tree, gazing longingly into the distance even after the person had walked away. "He looks quite fit. Could he be Young Master Jiang's new disciple?"
"I don't know, I've never seen him before, but why do I feel like he looks a bit like Sect Master Shen?" The person on the right scratched his head. "His height is really similar to Sect Master Shen's."
"You're overthinking it. Sect Master Shen has passed away, but surely it's not like Young Master Jiang found someone who resembles Sect Master Shen?"
"cough--"
The whispering group fell silent instantly. Dianxing's sharp gaze swept over them. "Why aren't you practicing your swordsmanship properly? Go to the Discipline Hall and receive your punishment."
After he finished speaking, he turned and left, catching up with Jiang Yu. "Young Master Jiang, who is this?"
"A friend."
Dianxing carefully examined him. "There aren't many guest rooms left. It might be a bit of a shame for you to stay with some of the disciples from Bai Ren for the time being."
"He can live with me."
Jiang Yu's tone was calm, as if he were asking, "Have you eaten?" Dian Xing was about to reply when she suddenly realized something was wrong. "Ah—Young Master Jiang, does he... does he live with you? Does he live in Fuyou Palace?"
"Hmm, is there a problem?"
Shen Jiuxu instantly felt that he had a name and status, and his back straightened up a lot. He couldn't help but smile. Fortunately, he had a mask to cover it up, otherwise he might have been as radiant as the flower stuffed on his head.
Dianxing felt wronged but dared not say much.
"How are those disciples doing?" Jiang Yu didn't care about that. If he cared about how others perceived him every day, he would have been exhausted long ago.
“He is still unconscious. I have someone check. Those disciples were sent by Sect Master Shen to handle the matter of the mountain demons in Gurenzhuang. There were ten people in total, but after the accident, only four of them came back. New disciples will have to be sent to Gurenzhuang.”
Looking at Jiang Yu's expression, Dianxing decided to finish what he was saying. The elder had come to see him earlier and had infuriated him. He was clearly looking for trouble, yet he had to come up with a bunch of high-sounding reasons.
"Elder Lian said that this matter is entirely the sect leader's fault. If anything happens to the disciples, he will publicly overturn the sect leader's coffin on the seventh day after his death, and no one will be able to rest in peace. He also said that since Sect Leader Shen is dead, this matter should be the responsibility of his close relatives. He said that husband and wife are like birds in the same forest, sharing happiness and hardship together."
"If he really says that, I'd like to see how he tries to refute it." Jiang Yu sneered, "How many disciples are still with Shen Wuke?"
"There are about four or five hundred people, but many of them are people who have returned from a trip a few days ago. I wonder if they will be like them. Even the elders are now blaming the cause of the incident on Sect Master Shen without any investigation, which has already caused dissatisfaction among many disciples."
Dianxing has been dealing with a lot of disputes these days, which has given him a huge headache. "The day after tomorrow is the seventh day after his death, and I'm afraid that Elder Lian and the others will cause trouble on that day."
"Let them make a scene, the bigger the better. I'm waiting for them to liven things up." Jiang Yu's tone was filled with anticipation. "Dianxing, go down the mountain and buy a wedding outfit to send to Fuyou Palace. Don't worry about Elder Lian causing trouble. Just keep a close eye on those disciples. If you're too busy, ask Lian Quesheng for help. He likes to keep accounts, so dealing with these people is a piece of cake for him."
Lian Quesheng, who was leisurely sitting in the tavern, suddenly sneezed. It must be that the silver was thinking of him.
"Wedding attire, young master, what are you going to do with it?"
Jiang Yu smirked, "Find a new sect leader to infuriate them."
Dianxing asked, puzzled, "Does Young Master not want to be the sect leader?" He glanced at the masked man who had been pushed away by Jiang Yu at some point. "Is Young Master leaving Shen Wuke?"
"When the sect leader is bound by rules, as long as the sect leader's order is with me, that's enough."

Lian Quesheng: (Very loudly) Is anyone going to speak up for me?! Am I some kind of free labor? I'm expensive! I'm really expensive!
What kind of friends have I made? Waaaaah!
