Chapter 147: The person who responds is the one you're looking for.

Chapter 147: The person who responds is the one you're looking for.

Jiang Yu didn't mention Xi Chuang, and Lian Quesheng also seemed to have truly forgotten about him; both of them avoided the topic without prior arrangement.

"I will find a way to give you an explanation regarding my mother's matter." Lian Quesheng could not ignore this, because it wasn't just Jiang Yu who was harmed because of her, but also many innocent people in Qingyun Ladder and the desolate mountain.

He was taught from a young age to be kind and generous. Despite being born into a wealthy family, Lian Quesheng rarely used his status to intimidate others. On the rare occasions he did, it was always for a reason, when someone had offended him first.

He didn't think he was any different from ordinary people; one was just someone who could kill with a sword, and the other was someone who could pull weeds with a hoe.

“She knows I’ve woken up, but she hasn’t come over yet.” Lian Quesheng glanced at Jiang Yu again, took the Xianchen Sword out of his pouch, and said, “It’s best if you keep the Xianchen Sword. Besides, it was originally yours. How can you deliberately lose it and then ask the person who found it for it back?”

When Xian Chenjian finally saw Jiang Yu, it felt as if it had been through a lifetime of hardship and joy. The last time it met Jiang Yu was three months ago. It had finally been able to see the light of day again, and it didn't dare to act recklessly when it saw people. It stayed quietly to the side, as quiet as a mute.

Jiang Yu was somewhat dazed. He thought that if he didn't think about Xian Chen, he would ignore the harm that Lian Chisu had caused him, but he never expected that they would meet again one day.

Xian Chen had been by his side for over a decade, longer than he had known Shen Jiuxu. It was impossible for him not to miss her; even Que Sheng knew how important Xian Chen was to Jiang Yu.

The names Jiang Yu and Xian Chen were already inextricably linked. He sighed, "Forget about the name Soul Eater. Xian Chen sounds much better."

The hilt of the sword trembled slightly and touched Jiang Yu's fingertips.

“Jiang Yu, no matter what, from the moment I decided to become your friend, I have always hoped that you could live a free and unrestrained life.” What Lian Quesheng didn’t say was that, in addition to the resentment he felt after being defeated by Jiang Yu in the sect competition and his submission to the strong, the most attractive thing about Jiang Yu was his unrestrained and wild personality.

He was under Lian Chisu's control. Although he dared to run away from Bailuzhou and appeared to be the most unrestrained person in the eyes of outsiders, he actually set many rules for himself in his heart.

Later, he thought he didn't have so many rules anymore, but he never expected that he hadn't changed at all. Those things that were ingrained in his bones would never change.

After Lian Quesheng told Jiang Yu about Lian Chisu's matter, Jiang Yu didn't want to get involved anymore; he hadn't cared that much to begin with. Leaving the Starry Sky Palace, Jiang Yu felt lost and confused. Although Lian Quesheng had woken up, it wasn't a place for Jiang Yu to stay for long. He figured Lian Chisu and Lu Buwen would be there soon, and he didn't want to see them.

Lian Quesheng offered to arrange a secluded place for him to stay, but Jiang Yu refused. He didn't want to trouble others, and since he had nothing else to do, he said goodbye to Lian Quesheng and prepared to go out for a walk.

The local customs and traditions here are very different from those in Shenwuke.

Surrounded by towering mountains, Shenwuke is either shrouded in continuous rain or covered in snow all year round, but here it is sunny and breezy.

The street vendors sold a dazzling array of goods, many of which Jiang Yu had never seen before. He was forced to buy a lot of things by the locals: freshly picked, vibrant winter plum blossoms; an unknown yellow fruit that was initially sour but then turned sweet; and pancakes sprinkled with jujube crumbs.

"Young Master Jiang, please try this. You won't find this anywhere else but our Starry Sky Palace." The overly enthusiastic young woman had already memorized Jiang Yu's story from the storytelling at the teahouse. Now that she had finally met him in person, she beamed and offered Jiang Yu some of the pastries she sold.

"Their food is top-notch, but it's a bit sweet. I wonder if Young Master Jiang likes sweet things."

The young woman slapped her forehead, somewhat annoyed, her ears instantly turning red. She whispered to Jiang Yu, "Young Master Jiang, don't you like sweets? I just found out. If I had known earlier, I definitely wouldn't have taken this. It doesn't seem to suit your taste. How about trying something else?"

She bit her lip, her eyes darting around the table, hesitating as she considered which option was more suitable.

Jiang Yu was already carrying a pile of food in his arms, which made him look less aloof and more down-to-earth. He smiled, temporarily put the things into his storage bag, and took a bite of the still steaming pastry.

The girl looked at him nervously. Jiang Yu smiled and said sincerely, "It's delicious, thank you, miss."

He didn't find it sweet at all.

Jiang Yu didn't like eating anything too sweet, but Shen Jiuxu could eat more sweets than him. Now things might have changed; he thought the taste was just right, and the crispiness was just right too.

Jiang Yu silently wondered to himself if Shen Jiuxu would be surprised to learn how much his tastes had changed. Just imagining Shen Jiuxu's wide-eyed expression made the corners of his mouth involuntarily curl up.

"I'm glad you like it, Young Master Jiang. I'll pack a few more for you." The girl was relieved and took out a bamboo basket from behind her and started filling it with food.

Jiang Yu couldn't refuse, so he took out some silver and placed it on the table when no one was looking. The girl was generous and cheerful, and not afraid of being taken advantage of. She kept filling Jiang Yu's basket to the brim, saying, "Young Master Jiang, you can take this back for Sect Leader Shen to try. Maybe he'll like it too!"

"good."

Jiang Yu readily agreed.

As the sun gradually set, most people on the street went home, leaving only a few still holding on. The bustling scene suddenly turned quiet and deserted, and Jiang Yu lost interest in strolling around. He found a lakeside inn and asked for a superior room.

The waiter brought hot water and a pot of wine, saying it was their specialty, a vintage "Daughter's Red" wine brewed for many years, and that a cup of it would help them sleep more soundly.

Jiang Yu couldn't refuse his hospitality, and the wine had been warmed in advance. He originally only intended to take a small sip, but he didn't expect the wine to be so addictive. He finished it off easily after just one sip.

However, Anwen Jiangyu didn't realize that drinking it actually made him more energetic and unable to sleep. Moonlight streamed in through his half-open window, reaching his bed.

The handsome young man, dressed in white pajamas, frowned slightly. Perhaps it was because he was in a new place and couldn't sleep, or perhaps it was because he had been drinking. In any case, Jiang Yu tossed and turned, unable to fall asleep, even though he was almost too sleepy to sleep.

This feeling was too unpleasant. Jiang Yu was upset and simply got out of bed and opened the window. The shimmering lake outside reminded him of the lake in Yunshui City. It seemed familiar, yet different.

He changed his clothes and sat on a rock by the lake.

The willow branches brushed against Jiang Yu's shoulder, bringing a slight tickle, like Shen Jiuxu caressing his body. He had been to many places, but had never seen any trace of Shen Jiuxu. The huge tree by the lake in Yunshui City had disappeared without a trace.

The tree behind the barren mountain, the one Shen Jiuxu leaned against when he first met him, has also disappeared. It seems that traces of Shen Jiuxu in this world are becoming fewer and fewer.

He leaned against it, closed his eyes, and felt dizzy. Unaware of what was happening behind him, the willow branches emitted a faint silver light, enveloping him and shielding him from the cold wind blowing around him.

As dawn broke, Jiang Yu was awakened by the chirping of birds, realizing that he had slept outside all night. Just as he was about to get up, he suddenly saw a flash of icy blue light in the sky. The familiar color reminded Jiang Yu of someone.

Sure enough, just as he expected, before Jiang Yu could even leave, Lian Quesheng's letter arrived. The paper crane flapped its wings and flew over, tilting its head towards Jiang Yu. He took off the note and learned that Chu Jue had invited people from the other two major sects, and coincidentally, Xie Hanyu from Huai Xian Sect had come.

"Xie Hanyu".

Jiang Yu remembered him; it was Xie Hanyu who saved him during his first tribulation. Jiang Yu had been thinking about visiting him ever since, but he was always too busy. Now that Xie Hanyu was here, he really should show his face.

Lian Quesheng was more thoughtful than him, and took the initiative to book a private room at the inn so that Jiang Yu could avoid Lian Chisu and the others. The room was not far from where Jiang Yu was staying, so he quickly packed up and went over.

"Immortal Lord Hanyu".

Jiang Yuchong nodded and smiled. Xie Hanyu did not come alone this time. There was a man in red clothes sitting next to her. If he was not mistaken, this was the legendary dragon—Xie Hanyu's Daoist partner.

"Just call me Hanyu. How have you been, Jiang Yu?"

The three major sects, Huai Xian Sect, Xing Chen Que, and Bai Ren Li, have always handled important matters together. If it weren't for Xie Hanyu's master, the sect leader of Huai Xian Sect, being in seclusion, he wouldn't have been pulled over.

Xie Hanyu didn't like getting involved in these things, but Jiang Yu wanted to meet with him, so he came in place of the sect leader.

"Immortal Lord Hanyu is a senior, and he saved my life, so I can't treat him lightly."

"This is Jiang Chao," Xie Hanyu introduced him. The man looked up and met Jiang Yu's gaze. For some reason, even though it was their first meeting, Jiang Yu felt that there was a strange curiosity in his eyes, like an ugly daughter-in-law meeting her in-laws.

He thought he might have misread it.

"I came here specifically today because I have something I wanted to give you." On the large square wooden table was a blue porcelain vase containing a branch with three flower buds. Xie Hanyu handed the vase to Jiang Yu. "This was found by Jiang Chao when he went out some time ago. He thought it was an ordinary flower or tree, and seeing that the branch was dry, he brought it back to Huaixian Sect."

The branches were turning slightly green, and a hint of anticipation flashed in Jiang Yu's eyes. He stared at the porcelain vase, his heart pounding. Xie Hanyu's voice rang in his ears, "Jiang Chao has been nurturing it for a long time. I didn't realize it at first. A few days ago, I saw that the branches had finally come back to life, and I thought that Jiang Yu, you should need it even more."

"This is--"

His tone became very soft, tinged with fear, afraid that if he uttered that name, everything might vanish. So many times he had felt anxious and uncertain, so many times news had vanished, making Jiang Yu hesitant to place all his hopes on it.

"This is the person you're looking for."
