Chapter 184 Graduation Ceremony
Jian Ruochen lowered his eyes and glanced at his speech, becoming inexplicably nervous.
I realized belatedly that this graduation ceremony was indeed an important moment like a watershed in my life.
He clenched his fingers around the medal, thanked Sir Zhong in a hoarse voice, shook Guan Yingjun's figure out of his mind, and went back to the dormitory to put on the medal.
Three silver medals and one bronze-gold medal were lined up and hung on his chest. Other students looked at him and reached out to touch them.
Gong Ruiming exclaimed: "So handsome, brother!"
"Yeah, who can get so many medals at the age of 23? I am drooling just looking at them."
"Brother Jian, you are so awesome."
This class was admitted through letters of recommendation. Most of their parents are in the police system, so they are generally well-informed.
I have never seen someone like Jian Ruochen, who has won four medals before entering the police academy and helped solve several large-scale serial cases.
Jian Ruochen is not only smart, he is also handsome and a good person. He was able to get a letter of recommendation written by Tao Hongyun, the commander-in-chief of West Kowloon.
So cool.
Jian Ruochen smiled at them, "You like the medal so much? Let's get it together later."
"Okay! It's settled." Gong Ruiming said, and ran to the window to look. He saw a brother sitting in the shade with the six medals on his chest reflecting the sun, shining brightly.
The eldest brother is surrounded by the Chief Superintendent of CID, the Chief Superintendent of CIB, the Chief Superintendent of Ordnance Forensic Bureau, etc.
At a glance, all he could see were the glowing medals dotted on the police chiefs' chests. Guan Yingjun had five of them tied on his left chest. He glanced up as if he had noticed something.
Gong Ruiming took three steps back, his legs suddenly weakened with nervousness, "So many big guys."
He felt nervous when he thought about how they would have to march in front of these big guys, guard the flag and raise the flag together with the cadets from other classes and be inspected.
Before he could say anything, the assembly bell rang. Jian Ruochen pushed his hair back with one hand, put on his police hat, patted Gong Ruiming on the shoulder and said, "Let's go."
He was nervous and excited, but when he really got downstairs and picked up the ceremonial gun, he was surprisingly calm.
He wasn't afraid when the old gold shop killed the robbers, so how could he be afraid of a small graduation ceremony?
In Hong Kong, the June sunshine is already very strong, shining down on everyone, emitting heat from the inside out.
Guan Yingjun was of a high enough rank. He sat in the first row, his eyes fixed on the leader of the first team.
Jian Ruochen grew taller and stood straight. The amber eyes under his police hat reflected the sunlight with a hint of clear gold.
There was no smile on his face, he looked extremely proper. In the team of police cadets, he was the only one with four glowing medals on his chest, more than the Chief Superintendent of the Ordnance Forensic Bureau next to him.
The longing for you for six whole months is like a physical thing that makes my whole body hot.
In Guan Yingjun's eyes, there was only Jian Ruochen left.
Other people and other colors seemed to have gone far away. He could only see Jian Ruochen walk up to him, stop, and then salute.
The cadet police officer in charge of raising the flag stepped forward, and when all the police officers stood up, Guan Yingjun was still staring at Jian Ruochen.
Jian Ruochen seemed to be a little too hot. Her cheeks flushed and her two lotus-colored lips opened and closed as if she was singing the British national anthem.
But his neck did not exert any strength and his Adam's apple did not move, so Guan Yingjun knew that he did not sing.
Jian Ruochen would never sing the colonizer's national anthem. His faith was as solid as a rock and it was impressive.
After the flag-raising ceremony, Le Jinwen went on stage to give a speech.
He was wearing a white short-sleeved police uniform and standing on the high platform. When I looked up, I could hardly see the expression on his face. I could only hear Le Jinwen's majestic voice coming from the loudspeaker:
"Police cadets and instructors, in the lush June, we held a grand graduation ceremony to witness 69 police officers completing their studies...In the past few years, Hong Kong has experienced many vicious incidents that endanger public safety. Some people, for their own selfish desires, instigated others to commit crimes and endangered the safety of the public."
"When Hong Kong's public security was facing a huge threat, you still firmly chose to become a police officer, which has fully demonstrated your social responsibility. I am proud of you."
“…I hope all graduates can distinguish right from wrong, uphold justice, and be both wise and courageous. Use wisdom and courage to shoulder your responsibilities.”
“I wish you all a bright future.”
Jian Ruochen raised his hand and applauded. He looked at Le Jinwen and keenly noticed that Le Jinwen actually blinked at him.
He looks like a playful old uncle.
Jian Ruochen stood there for a while, and his cheeks and back were soaked. He pursed his lips and suppressed the smile.
The drill teacher presided over the ceremony and read out the list of outstanding graduates.
There is one in each class. There are four classes in this police academy, one of which is a female police class.
After he finished reading, he said in a loud voice: "Now, please allow the outstanding graduates to speak."
Jian Ruochen stepped onto the platform step by step amid applause.
He looked at the written speech, and a surge of hot emotions surged in his chest.
He had some tinnitus as he spoke and felt very hot. The sun formed a white halo in front of his eyes. These written words were too subtle, too conservative, and too formal. They seemed insufficient to express his inner vision.
Jian Ruochen was very excited, but his tone was steady. "... On behalf of all graduates, I swear: to be loyal to the law and keep secrets; to enforce the law impartially and be honest and upright; to perform duties conscientiously, serve the people, safeguard political security, maintain social stability, and ensure the peace of the people."
"May we stick to our original aspirations and forge ahead,"
When someone else says this, it's inevitable that it sounds a bit formalistic.
But what Jian Ruochen said was particularly convincing.
Because that's what he has been doing for the past three years, and the four medals that serve as evidence are shining on his chest.
No one is better suited to say this than him.
Gong Ruiming was watching from below, his blood boiling, and he couldn't wait to rush to the Royal Hong Kong Police Station to have a big fight tomorrow.
Many people cried.
Hong Kong has a British-style education system, and many people have never experienced such a militarized education. Everyone is always the same, and in order to fight the instructor, even one person would go on the slack while the others would sneak off to buy snacks at the canteen.
When the time came to say goodbye, people felt reluctant to leave and almost everyone had tears in their eyes.
After the graduation ceremony, the tears in Gong Ruiming's eyes fell to the ground. He rushed to Jian Ruochen, grabbed his hand and cried and laughed: "You are so handsome today. It's a pity that we can't work together from the beginning."
Led by Gong Ruiming, a group of enthusiastic men immediately surrounded Jian Ruochen.
Summer is hot.
Jian Ruochen had to take off his hat and tuck it under his elbow, comforting him: "We are all in Hong Kong, we will definitely see each other again."
"You've been promoted so quickly. By the time we enter the police department, you might have become the boss." Gong Ruiming felt that he was not living up to his expectations when he thought about it.
Why isn't there a brain as smart as Jian Ruochen?
Jian Ruochen looked at him and smiled, "How can it be that fast? I'll be thankful if I can get the position within ten years. It's impossible for the higher-ups to let a young boy who's less than 30 years old be the boss, right?"
Everyone choked and said in unison: "That's not necessarily true."
Gong Ruiming said bluntly: "Sir Jian, you should have an idea of your influence. I think it will take at most five years."
Jian Ruochen just smiled and didn't say anything.
The platinum hair had not been trimmed for a long time and had grown long. A few strands hung behind the ears, and the rest looked messy because of the hat, fluttering in the wind on the head like a bunch of snow-white sugar fluff floating out of a cotton candy machine.
He casually stroked his hair back, not caring about his image at all, and asked, "Want to take a picture?"
"shoot!"
A class of 12 people stood arm in arm in front of the photographer hired by the school to take graduation photos. They took off their hats and held them casually. The photographer found it funny when they were talking and joking, so he took a few photos. When they stood up straight, he took two serious photos.
The police academy will be responsible for classifying these photos and sending them back to the students' homes.
Jian Ruochen hugged everyone and said goodbye.
Guan Yingjun stood in the viewing area and watched. He felt that the pair of eyes were particularly bright and even the flushed face was charming.
After saying goodbye to everyone, Jian Ruochen felt something. When he turned around, he saw Guan Yingjun standing there waiting for him.
There were not many people around Guan Yingjun, but Le Jinwen was surrounded by several chief superintendents and was trying hard to socialize.
Jian Ruochen walked over and stood in front of him.
The two looked at each other for a moment, and Guan Yingjun wanted to ask "Why didn't you call me" and "Do you miss me?"
Just as he was about to open his mouth, Jian Ruochen stretched out his hand to him. Guan Yingjun stopped asking questions and leaned forward to hug Jian Ruochen, as if he wanted to rub him into his body and become one with him.
"I miss you so much." Guan Yingjun said.
"I miss you, too." Jian Ruochen whispered.
He buried his face in Guan Yingjun's shoulders and neck, and the sweat on his face rubbed onto his neck.
Guan Yingjun, who always wiped the chair with tissues before watching the ceremony, didn't seem to have mysophobia at this moment. Instead, he buried his head in Jian Ruochen's head and took a deep breath.
A strong grapefruit scent mixed with a hint of indescribable sweetness.
Still tastes the same.
Guan Yingjun finished inhaling it, and then said vaguely: "Little liar. No one cares about your food and clothing, and you are enjoying yourself in the police academy."
Jian Ruochen insisted that he had not and let Guan Yingjun go.
It's not good to hold it in front of everyone.
The two looked at each other for a moment, then gently looked away.
Guan Yingjun opened his hand and asked Jian Ruchen whether he wanted to hold the reins or not. Jian Ruchen thought for a moment and shook his head.
There are so many big shots here that I don’t know. I might run into them in the Hong Kong Legislative Council later, so I’d better be cautious recently.
He thought about it, and then hooked Guan Yingjun's little finger, "The situation is special, let's talk about it when we get home."
Guan Yingjun looked at him for a second longer, then raised his hand and placed it on Jian Ruochen's shoulder. This was truly an ambiguous gesture, and even the most conservative of conservatives could not find fault with it.
He took Jian Ruochen to find Le Jinwen. As juniors, they were surrounded by people who wanted to compliment Le Jinwen and were praised a lot. It was not until an hour later that they had time to pick up their suitcases and go home.
Before leaving the dormitory, Jian Ruochen picked up the quilt bag and asked Guan Yingjun to return it. He then went to the canteen to buy some salty wheat cakes made in the cafeteria before walking towards the school gate.
When leaving, Jian Ruochen looked back again.
Guan Yingjun touched his head and said, "When you become the number one brother, you can come here and speak twice a year."
These words immediately diluted the sadness of parting.
Jian Ruochen laughed out loud.
He saw the Alfa parked opposite the police academy and Uncle Luo holding flowers. He immediately threw the suitcase to Guan Yingjun and ran away with open arms, "Godfather..."
He paused, and before hugging Luo Binwen, he suddenly changed his words and imitated the tone of others calling their father, "Daddy."
Luo Binwen was stunned for a moment. He stared at Jian Ruochen's face and suddenly felt that if he really married the young lady, the child would be a young master like this.
Conant's genes are just too strong.
Jian Ruochen does not have any of his father's characteristics.
"Dad, what happened to you?" Jian Ruochen tilted his head and looked up at Luo Binwen.
Luo Binwen's eyes were red, and he responded with trembling lips, stuffed the flowers into Jian Ruochen's arms, and said in a hoarse voice: "Guan Yingjun and I picked it together, do you like it?"
"I like it." Jian Ruochen smiled while holding the flowers, his chin resting on the clusters of small hydrangeas in full bloom. The flowers were clustered together and looked particularly beautiful.
Luo Binwen turned his back and secretly wiped his eyes, "Okay, let's go home. Mr. Guan made a braised yellow beef dish. He has been practicing his cooking skills recently."
Jian Ruochen said "Oh", opened the back door, put his elbow on Guan Yingjun's waist, asked him to sit inside, and sat on the other side.
Guan Yingjun had long arms and legs, which made it extremely inconvenient for him to sit in the chair, but he still sat there without any complaints.
After he sat down, Jian Ruochen poked him again and asked, "Isn't it the spicy fried beef I want to eat?"
Guan Yingjun tilted his head and looked at Jian Ruochen wantonly. When he saw his moist lotus-colored lips, he laughed softly, "You don't like spicy food recently."
"Why is it not good--" Jian Ruochen's voice suddenly stopped and became hoarse.
He stared at Guan Yingjun and slowly moved towards the door. When he looked up, he saw that the baffle in front was locked.
Guan Yingjun grabbed Jian Ruochen's waist and pulled him to his side with one hand. He tilted his head and kissed the top of his beloved's head, "What do you miss about me?"
Jian Ruochen's ears suddenly turned red.
He didn't think about it very often, but he did think about it.
What else can a hot-blooded man think?
"After dinner tonight, you want to show it to me." Guan Yingjun wiped the sweat on Jian Ruochen's forehead with his index finger.
He stared at his knuckles for a while, then, under Jian Ruochen's shocked gaze, he stuck out his tongue and rolled the sweat bead into his mouth.
This is really bad.
Jian Ruochen tightened his hands holding the bouquet and hurriedly changed the subject, "How is Brother Jiu's case going? Have you caught him?"
"I have been in closed training for so long. Is there any new news from the mainland? Is there any request from the Legislative Council? When will the bill be drafted?"
"And... ugh!"
With his mouth blocked, Jian Ruochen's pupils contracted violently for a moment, and then his breath was forcefully taken away.
After not having kissed for almost a year, he almost forgot how to kiss and soon became completely exhausted.
