Chapter 26
It was not yet mealtime, and there were few people in the Café Poirot. As soon as Conan Edogawa entered the café, he went straight to Toru Amuro.
"Mr. Amuro, I have a question for you."
Conan ran to Amuro Toru's side and noticed that there was no one else nearby, so he lowered his voice and asked quietly:
"I heard that there is a member of the organization codenamed 'Baifu' who has come to Japan. Mr. Amuro, do you know this person? What does he look like? What kind of mission will he be responsible for?"
At first, Toru Amuro thought Conan was in some trouble and wanted to ask him for help. But he turned out to be asking him about the organization.
As an adult who considers himself to be fairly reliable, Toru Amuro has always been reluctant to involve a child like Conan in such dangerous matters, even if the child is a high school student in disguise.
"The Balvenie is a type of wine."
Under Conan's eager gaze, Amuro Toru continued with a smile:
"Conan, children can't drink alcohol, so stop asking."
Conan looked embarrassed. Mr. Amuro, is this a rejection?
But he had no other channels. If he wanted to get more information about Baifu, he had to bite the bullet and continue asking.
"I met a man in black with a hood covering his face a few days ago. He was asking about a crime scene. I also heard that Baifu in the organization was also dressed in black and hooded. I wonder if there is any connection between the two, or even if they are the same person. Mr. Amuro, why don't you tell me the information you know about Baifu, and we can try to work together to capture him, how about that?"
Amuro Toru frowned when he heard this. When Conan told him the information about Baifu, he had already guessed who Conan got the information from.
But even though he had reached a verbal non-interference agreement with the hated FBI, he had absolutely no intention of cooperating with him.
What's more, this also involves that Baifu.
As early as when he and Jingguang replanned the action plan, Toru Amuro had already made a plan that no matter what his identity was, he would stay as far away from that Baifu as possible.
So even though it had been more than three years since that incident, Toru Amuro had never met with Baifu once, and would not talk about him with anyone. There was no other reason, it was purely to avoid suspicion.
However, the young detective in front of him was obviously deceived by that bastard FBI again, and he even got the information back to himself.
Moreover, given the kid's reckless nature, if we really let him conduct a reckless investigation and run into Bai Fu's hands, something might really happen.
So Amuro Toru thought that it would be better for him to realize the seriousness of the matter. Not expecting him to back down, but also making him more cautious in his actions, so that he can better protect himself if he encounters danger in the future.
"Don't even think about getting close to Baifu. He is a dangerous person in every way. It is no exaggeration to say that the trouble he can bring you is far greater than the trouble you have gotten into before."
Toru Amuro, who was smiling before, suddenly had a cold expression. His blue-purple eyes, which originally made people feel friendly, seemed to be tinged with a cold and gray taste at this moment.
"Also, stop thinking about this ridiculous thing of working with someone to catch Baifu. I remember telling you a long time ago to stay away from that FBI guy. It's not good to have too much contact with him."
Conan automatically ignored Toru Amuro's reminder, but was keenly aware that Toru Amuro's attitude towards Momotani was different from his previous attitude towards other members of the organization.
No wonder Mr. Akai said before that Mr. Amuro might know more information, but there is a high possibility that he would not tell me. Now it seems that this is indeed the case.
"Mr. Amuro, is it because there is something special about that Baifu that we cannot just arrest him casually?"
Seeing Amuro Toru staring at him with frowns on her face, Conan quickly added in a flattering tone:
"Ahahaha, I get it. Next time I see someone wearing black clothes and a hood, I will be more careful."
"Who says that the Hundred Fortunes must be dressed in black hoods? People who are good at hiding themselves will certainly know how to use a solidified image to confuse people. I tell you this to remind you that even if you are already very outstanding, don't try to get involved in areas that you cannot get involved in just to satisfy your curiosity. That is really too dangerous for you."
Amuro Toru's expression looked extremely serious, and it was obvious that he was not going to tell Conan the details. This made Conan a little anxious, and he immediately said impatiently:
"But if we don't do anything, we won't be able to truly eliminate them. Mr. Amuro, aren't you guys working hard on this, too?"
"To truly destroy an organization is not something that can be done overnight, nor can it be accomplished simply by arresting one or two members of the organization."
Perhaps because he remembered the organization, a hint of coldness flashed across Amuro Toru's eyes, and his dark pupils became even darker. An unsettling sense of oppression floated around him, which was the unique aura of the Bourbon organization.
Conan had long been accustomed to Toru Amuro's usual gentleness and thoughtfulness, and suddenly facing his sharp side made him a little uncomfortable for a moment. He paused and his eyes drifted.
Noticing Conan's uneasiness, Toru Amuro quickly calmed down and narrowed his eyes slightly, hiding the sharpness in his eyes. But he still said seriously:
"In short, whether it's investigation or fighting, even if it means getting hurt or even sacrificing your life, we adults can do it all. What you need most now is to ensure your own safety and don't rush in recklessly."
After saying this, he stood up again and instantly returned to his previous smiling look, becoming the sunny and cheerful coffee shop waiter. There was no sense of incongruity in the change.
Conan looked up, speechlessly looking at Amuro Toru, who was smiling brightly as if nothing had happened. In his heart, he was thinking about how to make this intelligence expert loosen his grip and let him leak out more information.
Until Conan heard footsteps coming from the kitchen, and turned his head subconsciously...
Xingchuan and Ming had a blank expression on their faces. They took big strides with great momentum and walked from the kitchen to the front hall in just a few steps.
Conan's pupils trembled. Xingchuan and Ming? Why did he appear here?
Oh, by the way, he said he wanted to come to the coffee shop to work.
But why did he let me run into him? I just offended him before, and if we meet again so soon, he will definitely take revenge on me, right?
Conan no longer cared about any information. At this moment, all the hairs on his body were clamoring for alertness, and he wanted to run away immediately.
But it doesn't work.
He was already at fault for misunderstanding Hoshikawa Kazuaki before, and he impulsively found Akai Shuichi and knocked him out as soon as they met. Although he had apologized, Hoshikawa Kazuaki was obviously still angry.
Conan had to endure the embarrassment at this time, and forced a brilliant smile, and shouted sweetly:
"Brother Xingchuan! Well, I'm glad that you've recovered..."
However, his steps were unconsciously moving towards the door.
Hoshikawa and Ming walked up to Conan and looked down at him.
His aura seemed to be filled with shock and violence, but his eyes were friendly and kind, and his smile was gentle:
"I finally see Conan-kun again. I missed you after not seeing you for a few days. I was able to recover from fainting after being thrown down before, and now I get dizzy when I get angry. It's all thanks to Conan-kun's help."
Hoshikawa Kazuaki's voice is friendly and patient, the type of gentle big brother that any child would like.
However, Conan felt a chill down his spine as he heard this, as if he had seen himself being thrown to the ground and fainting from the pain.
He was so frightened by the thought that he broke out in a cold sweat, and his toes were already pointing towards the door. If the situation went wrong, he would immediately escape from this place of trouble.
Toru Amuro immediately noticed the obvious abnormality between the two people's atmosphere.
He quickly thought of the two people's personalities. One was a get-to-the-roots person, while the other was unwilling to suffer a loss. Both were sharp-minded. If there were disagreements and misunderstandings in the handling of something, there was indeed a possibility of some minor conflicts.
So he stepped aside with a smile, seemingly unaware of the low tension between the two of them.
Hoshikawa Kazuaki didn't mind Toru Amuro's watching, but leaned over and touched Conan's head lovingly.
Feeling Conan's body tremble, he was so scared that even his hair stood up, and it was a bit painful to press it in the palm of his hand. Xingchuan and Ming smiled with satisfaction and said in a coaxing tone:
"Conan-kun, don't run around this time. Otherwise, not only will Ms. Mori be angry, but I'll also start to feel dizzy. This is a symptom left by the heavy fall a few days ago."
Conan heard this and was about to move his legs forward, but he couldn't move them. He knew why Xingchuan and Ming were angry, and he was almost drowned by guilt and remorse.
But he never thought that Xingchuan and Ming would actually use this matter to target him directly.
Regardless of whether what Hoshikawa Kazuaki said about the symptom of "feeling dizzy when angry" is true or false, since he said this, how could Conan, who is already feeling guilty, really just leave even if it means making the other person angry?
Conan's sense of justice would not allow him to do such a thing. And facing the soft knife stabbing his heart from Hoshikawa and Akira, Conan's conscience was even more tormented.
Therefore, facing Hoshikawa and Akira who were obviously looking for trouble with him, Conan got hot-headed and made a decision that made him regret to the point of crying.
He stopped walking.
