5? Chapter Five

5 Chapter Five

No matter how favored someone is, they must not cause trouble in front of the young master.

When Master Erkong learned that the two disciples he had sent to the Demon Realm had obtained Lu Yue's blood, he felt something was amiss. He insisted that the medicine be tested before allowing Simiao to take it.

He couldn't resist a sarcastic remark: "Why would Lu Yue be so kind? There must be a trick involved."

“But this was personally given to us by Senior Brother Xueji, and he…”

The two couldn't bring themselves to say what followed, and before long, their senior brother brought a bottle of blood from the Demon Lord Lu Yue. The Demon Lord was considered a major threat in the Daoist world, so no one could easily get close to him.

When Senior Brother Xueji returned, his frost-colored Taoist robe was disheveled, and the collar was only partially closed. Although his clothes were dry, his hair was still dripping wet. Especially his bright red ears, it was impossible not to think that Senior Brother had made some kind of deal with the demon at the hot spring to obtain this life-saving medicine.

Only when the peak master of Shennong Peak confirmed that he could indeed cure the Yang poison in Simiao's body did the sect leader in the high position finally breathe a sigh of relief.

Master Erkong remained sarcastic: "So what if it's hers? It was Xueji who got it."

After a long silence, the eldest brother gritted his teeth and said indignantly, "In the end, it's the junior brother who suffers. Lu Yue is a womanizer and has slept with countless people. Xue Ji is simple-minded and doesn't understand love. It's really unfair to him."

Outsiders were especially unaware of Xueji's fastidious nature; his utensils and tools were always kept separate, and anyone who had used them would not touch them. Once, a junior disciple merely tried on his new clothes, and Xueji simply said, "I don't want them," without a second thought. He was never seen touching that brocade robe again after that.

The sect leader frowned, muttering to himself, "You are still young, and Lu Yue is indeed a bit promiscuous. But she is over a thousand years old after all, how could she not have male lovers? Fortunately, Xue Ji won't suffer too much."

These words startled everyone.

Master Erkong asked suspiciously, "What are you talking about?"

The sect leader realized he had misspoke, but simply waved his hand and offered no further explanation.

He looked dazed, a rare hint of helplessness appearing on his usually dignified and handsome face. He thought back to the first time he met Lu Yue, when he wasn't yet known as the sect leader, but merely a disciple of Shangqing named Xie Shu. He was required to patrol at night, fearing a sneak attack from demons.

It snowed heavily that day, and it finally stopped at night, but then a few snowflakes started to fall again.

Everything in the world seemed to be dyed the color of frost, a deathly white shrouding the Shangqing Mountains, so quiet that one could hear the snow breaking pine branches. Until he heard footsteps, and looking in the direction of the sound, a white figure blended into the shimmering snow.

She walked very lightly and gracefully, coming through the snow, leaving no footprints on the ground.

He clearly recognized his senior sister's features, yet he knew it wasn't her. The other person's murderous aura was too intense; their undisguised killing intent and brutality made his sword clang, as if eager to challenge them.

Humans, demons, and monsters coexist in the world; those who are tainted by sin are all called demons.

Xie Shu was unaware of the other party's intentions and felt uneasy. Knowing that his cultivation was shallow, he still spoke loudly and solemnly: "Who are you? Why are you impersonating my senior sister?"

The young man immediately drew his sword, but her blade was faster, dispelling his surging sword intent in a mere blink of an eye. Before Xie Shu could even see her move, his sword was already forced back into its sheath.

The arrogant aura from before vanished instantly, and the sword remained obediently and quietly in its scabbard, not daring to move.

Xie Shu then noticed that she held a three-foot-long horizontal sword, its cold light gleaming, but she had controlled her strength so that the layers of snow on the ground were not disturbed.

She seemed to be holding something in her arms, wrapped tightly in a white fox fur coat; it looked like a living creature.

Xie Shu knew that the difference in strength was too great and dared not back down. He vaguely felt that the other party did not intend to take his life.

Why have you come here?

“This child’s village was attacked by monsters, and all his relatives died. It is best for him to stay in your Shangqing now.”

"You did it."

"I won't waste my time on such trivial matters."

"Why are you pretending to look like my senior sister?"

"convenient."

She didn't explain further, but simply handed the child to me.

"His name is Xueji, the Xueji of 'after the snow clears'."

As Xie Shu took her, he smelled a cold aura emanating from Lu Yue. Though she had no scent, he detected a warm fragrance, like plum blossoms or snow-covered pine. Looking up, he saw Lu Yue's true face revealed, her beautiful and alluring eyes captivating. Fine snowflakes landed on her long, delicate eyelashes. Her cold, purple eyes were as still as a deep pool, yet the upturned corners were as vibrant as peonies.

Xie Shu's heart was pounding, perhaps because he was afraid that she would harm him.

But she didn't do anything until she left; she simply disappeared from his sight, accompanied by the cold, desolate snow.

Later, because of that knife, Xie Shu learned that the other party was Lu Yue, a capable subordinate of the Demon Lord.

If he had another chance, he would definitely give his name.

"My name is Xie Shu."

A hundred years have passed. She has become the new Demon Lord, and he has become the head of the Shangqing Sect. But he still remembers that silent, snowy night when he slashed the moon with his sword. It was beautiful.

When I was young, I thought the palpitations I felt were fear, but later I realized they were just unfounded thoughts.

She was a demon, her hands stained with countless sins. Yet Xie Shu still couldn't control her intrusion into his dreams. Even knowing it was chaotic and filthy, he was still captivated by it.

He was able to control himself, but there was one thing he just couldn't figure out and could only ask his senior sister for help.

"After the two disciples infiltrated the Demon Realm, Xueji obtained Luyue's blood and fed it to Simiao."

"That's good. It's worth it for her to take good care of Xueji all this time."

"But I've always been bothered by this: if Lu Yue really attacked Shang Qing for Xue Ji's sake, then why didn't she just take him away back then?"

The people inside remained silent for a long time, and after a while, they said, "Who knows what she said when she brought Xueji here back then?"

"It was only said that the child's hometown had suffered a disaster, and later when I went down the mountain to investigate, it was indeed true. Lu Yue only passed by and did not do anything."

At that time, she was already a notorious demon in the underworld, with a thousand years of cultivation that no one dared to easily touch. Why would she needlessly kill a few innocent civilians?

"That's good. Now that Simiao is alright, I should go and see her."

The long-closed stone door slowly opened, and after a cloud of dust rose, the woman finally appeared. Her cold face was lifeless, like a dead object. But Xie Shu knew that his senior sister used to be bright and cheerful, but she had lost too much to become like this.

Xie Shu couldn't understand why his senior sister didn't care about Xue Ji after so many days, even though she was her disciple. Although she was raised by Simiao and several junior brothers, there was still some affection between them.

Perhaps Lu Yue would treat that child better.

It is said that she has many beautiful women around her who use sweet words to flatter her, which inevitably makes Xueji's proud nature suffer.

But Xie Shu guessed wrong. Xue Ji and Bu thought there was no difference between Shangqing and the Demon Realm.

Aside from the previous banquets and hot springs, he stayed indoors, focusing on recuperating in the vast palace. He ignored the daily stream of rare tonics and medicinal herbs that were delivered to him.

The things in the Demon Realm are so filthy that Xue Ji would not want to touch them.

But on this day, they found a Blood Demon Lotus in the soup bowl. This plant only blooms once every hundred years, making it extremely precious. It is said to be able to revive the dead and heal the wounded. The disciples had recklessly ventured into the Demon Realm for it, just to spare their senior sister from suffering.

Xue Ji stared at the Blood Demon Lotus for a long time without moving. If he ate it, he could definitely make up for the loss of cultivation in the formation, but it would be too wasteful.

He carefully stored it in his Qiankun bag, thinking he would use it someday.

"We have plenty of these things in our Demon Realm, so don't be reluctant to part with them. If you can win the favor of the Venerable One, you might as well eat them as food."

Wen Ruo entered leisurely, his long robe making his slender figure appear even more prominent.

Xue Ji remained silent. He had set up an array here, and Lu Yue had not come again except on the first day. Only he could come and go freely in the hall.

Legend has it that in the Demon Realm there is a demon who has lived for ten thousand years, serving several Demon Lords and still alive. Yet, with his frail physique, it's hard to imagine that he could have reached such a position.

"You truly don't know how lucky you are. This palace is reserved for the Demon Lord. For your sake, His Majesty has been resting elsewhere all this time."

Xueji remained unmoved. She could only endure it if she forced herself to, but it was wishful thinking to expect him to take the initiative.

Seeing his stubborn nature, Wen Ruo didn't try to persuade him. She took out the white fox fur coat from the chest in the hall, carefully carried it out, and then went to the white rabbit spirit's hall.

He meticulously made the bed, a task that Wen Ruo wasn't supposed to do. But he wanted to take good care of the Venerable One, as it was Wen Ruo's duty as a subordinate. He remembered clearly who she had favored each day, how many times she had taken her, and even the duration.

But in Young Master Bai's eyes, this was far too presumptuous, especially upon seeing the white fox fur, which terrified him. It was said that His Majesty had a fleeting affair with the young master of the fox clan. However, a foolish fox spirit tried to seduce him and was skinned alive by the young master and hung on Fox Ridge as a warning to others.

So what if she's the most beautiful woman in the fox clan? Even so, the Venerable One was still seduced. Unlike me, who, though not beautiful, has received the Venerable One's exclusive favor lately. So, looks alone can't keep someone; you have to know how to understand their heart.

But he still harbored resentment, and when he served him at night, he said gently, "Isn't it a bit inappropriate for Elder Wen to do everything himself? He even made this bed himself."

Lu Yue stroked the innocent and naive Xiao Bai in front of her. He was flushed from the recent lovemaking and looked incredibly cute. Her usually cold and aloof expression softened as she smiled and said, "Why do you care about him?"

Elder Wen seems to dislike me.

Xiao Bai's black hair was disheveled over her shoulders, and her watery eyes were moist. Today, she only wanted to take the fox fur coat, but that old fellow Wen Ruo scolded her for meddling, saying that he was weak and that the previous young master of the fox clan could spend three days and three nights with the Venerable One.

"Why bother trying to please him? My love for you is enough."

Lu Yue stroked his narrow waist, giving it a satisfied squeeze. As expected of a rabbit, his waist was practically boneless. She loved his obedient and docile nature; he never overstepped his bounds and had absolutely no temper.

Lu Yue rubbed his waist and pressed closer, his soft, sweet lips touching Xiao Bai's beautiful lips. Although he wasn't conventionally handsome, he had a beautiful body—large breasts, a slender waist, a shapely bottom, and long legs. His skin was as white as snow, and even a little pressure would leave red marks.

Just as the two were deeply in love, a male voice suddenly broke in: "Your Excellency, the young master is ill and is crying and begging you for medicine."

Despite being disturbed, Lu Yue showed no displeasure and rose directly from the couch. Xiao Bai was about to get up to help her dress when Wen Ruo stepped on his white robes to respectfully pick up his black robes and patiently helped him put them on, even personally kneeling down to lift his shoes for him.

Such respectful service hardly befits an elder; it's practically...

Xiao Bai dared not utter a sound and could only watch helplessly as the Venerable One left. As Wen Ruo departed, she merely glanced at him indifferently, her eyes filled with mockery.

Like Xiao Bai, the young master was merely a beauty offered up by the demon race, and few had ever seen his true face. Moreover, it was said that the Venerable One did not favor him, yet he still kept him in his heart regardless.

There's an unwritten rule in the Demon Realm: no matter how favored someone is, they can't cause trouble in front of the young master.

Even now, despite his immense success, he has never even met the other party.

So what exactly is this young master's identity?
