15 Chapter Fifteen
He's a liar; he'll never give her his heart.
The dim moonlight shone on Chong Li's cold and stern face, and the expensive silk robe he wore was already tattered.
Because he was a dragon, his wounds would heal completely in less than half a day. Each time his wounds healed, Lu Yue, who was waiting nearby, would step forward and finish him off.
Chongli was oblivious to the pain, his eyes fixed on the dim light from the small house in the distance. The expectation in his eyes gradually turned into frustration and irritability.
"Why hasn't she come here yet? I remember you were here for less than half a day before she found you."
Even a tiny snake can be spotted in the snow. It's springtime now; how could she not see someone as large as me?
Was it intentional, or had she already discovered her identity?
Chongli looked at Luyue thoughtfully. Since she had saved her, she would definitely save herself as well.
Lu Yue simply shook her head indifferently: "This subordinate does not know."
Chong Li's expression was gloomy. His tall and imposing figure quickly rose to his feet, gazing menacingly into the distance: "Really..."
Facing his master, who could erupt at any moment, Lu Yue remained calm. He keenly sensed the movement not far away, and with a cold face, he kicked Chong Li back to the ground. Before Chong Li could react, Lu Yue casually stabbed him again in his healed wound.
Blood splattered on the ground, and Chongli thought Luyue had killed him. But upon smelling that familiar scent, he immediately collapsed to the ground, his bright eyes fixed on the footsteps coming from the shadows.
Looking at the fool on the ground, Lu Yue reminded him, "You should close your eyes."
Chong Li immediately closed his eyes tightly as the footsteps drew closer. The woman wore a gray robe, her black hair tied up with a bamboo hairpin. Then she raised her foot and stomped hard on Chong Li's face.
"What is that?"
The woman felt something soft under her foot and jumped back. She then discovered a handsome man lying on the ground, seemingly seriously injured and covered in blood.
She held up a lantern and looked around, asking worriedly, "Are you alright?"
Chongli wanted to open his eyes, but after thinking about it, he decided to keep them closed, just like Luyue had done back then.
The woman first stepped forward and touched the patient's nose, then turned and left.
Lu Yue...
Chongli...
This plot seems a bit off.
After waiting for a long time and no longer being able to detect the woman's fragrance, Chong Li got up and patted the dust off his face.
His face was cold as he questioned Lu Yue, "What happened? Why didn't she carry me back to the bamboo house like she did with you?"
Lu Yue was also pondering whether she thought Chong Li was dead because he had held his breath earlier.
Chong Li looked unwell. She had finally seen her beloved, but he ignored her completely, yet he treated the little snake with tenderness and affection.
His injuries healed instantly due to his extreme anger. As Lu Yue was pondering, footsteps echoed again under the moonlight.
Chongli looked at Luyue, who understood her perfectly and ruthlessly stabbed her twice more into the wound that had just healed.
"To prevent her from finding out, I humbly request..."
Lu Yue casually lifted her foot and stepped on his face again.
If someone had treated Chongli like this on a normal day, he would have found the person's reincarnation and never let them go.
But because of the woman's increasingly close fragrance, he even sweetly felt that Lu Yue's leg strength was not as great as the woman's.
She was still so energetic, just like when they first met, a sword piercing his chest. His heart, dormant for millennia, began to beat wildly and powerfully; this was an excitement Chong Li had never felt before.
The woman returned shortly after, carrying a tattered straw mat. She couldn't possibly carry the man back to the bamboo hut alone, so she tried to drag him inside with the mat. After struggling to put him inside, she began to pull him with difficulty.
Actually, the man wasn't heavy, and she was quite strong, but because there was so much gravel on the ground, the friction made it difficult for her to walk.
Lu Yue watched helplessly as the proud head of the Demon Lord, Chong Li, was brutally sliced across by the stones and weeds on the ground. His handsome face became a bloody mess; if a woman were to turn around at that moment, she would surely think he looked like a ghost.
If an ordinary person continued like this, they would either die or be maimed. Lu Yue didn't feel any sympathy for Chong Li; instead, a faint sorrow welled up in her heart.
She was no different from anyone else. She didn't save people because they were unique; she would have saved anyone who saw them.
In stark contrast to the cold-blooded actions of the Demon Realm, humans are loving and helpful to one another, doing everything in their power to heal their kin. Of course, they are also far more ruthless than those of the Demon Realm, capable of inflicting brutal massacres on their own kind.
Lu Yue watched silently as the woman dragged the man away with the straw mat, into the small bamboo hut that had once belonged to them. She felt abandoned again. Lu Yue finally understood the taste of pain, just like the strange sorrow that had risen in her heart when that mother beast roared at her.
I later learned that this was called loneliness.
As Lu Yue watched the woman carefully taking care of Chong Li, Chong Li, who usually only knew how to pursue martial power, began to do things like chopping wood, cooking, and carrying water like an ordinary person, doing everything himself.
She stayed nearby for a year, watching the woman and Chongli meet, fall in love, and eventually kill each other.
As his memories deepened, the pain in his body became clearer. After being stabbed by the woman, Chong Li secluded himself in the Demon Realm.
Lu Yue also began to feel lost, and even the usually meticulous Lu Yue made a mistake while completing a fairly simple task. Lu Yue, covered in blood, finally collapsed to the ground.
She knew she was doomed this time, and the woman wouldn't save her. In her dazed state, Lu Yue saw a figure before her. It was Wen Ruo, who was looking at her with a smile in his eyes.
"Your mission has failed, and even if you return to the Demon Realm, Chongli will not let you go."
Lu Yue remained silent. Perhaps it wouldn't be so bad to die quietly like this. There was nothing in this world worth cherishing for her. She came into this world alone and will leave alone.
When she woke up again, she saw a gentle, fluffy tail. The boy's innocent eyes clearly showed that he had not experienced any pain, and they were so clean and beautiful that they made Lu Yue's eyes hurt.
Looking at the person he had finally managed to bring back, Ayao smiled and said, "You're awake."
"Um."
Ayao never expected that he would actually save her life. His older sister had said that her life was unlikely to be saved, but fortunately he fed her all the elixirs he had treasured.
"I am the little prince of the fox clan. I saved you, so you must repay my kindness."
"Repaying a debt of gratitude?"
Lu Yue didn't understand what repaying a debt of gratitude meant. After the woman saved her, she left and had never heard of the concept of repaying a debt of gratitude.
“Since I saved you, you have to treat me well. If it weren’t for me, you might be dead by now. I am the most beautiful woman in the fox clan. Countless demons outside want even a little bit of my affection,” A Yao said anxiously. “I even cut off a tail for you.”
This was the first time Lu Yue had met A Yao.
He was very handsome, with exquisite features and a flawless face, which is why she liked him too.
Lu Yue opened her eyes. She had completely shed her skin and found that there was someone standing next to her.
"Your Excellency."
"Wen Ruo?"
"Congratulations, Your Excellency, on your further advancement in cultivation."
"Where is Xueji?"
"He was injured and is recovering."
"Is Yan Qing doing well at Chunhu?"
Wen Ruo's eyes darkened slightly: "He will be fine wherever he is. By the way, there is a little insect trying to disturb your cultivation. I wonder how you plan to deal with it."
"Keep him locked up for now, we'll talk about it when he's useful."
“Your last whip is broken, so let me make you a new one.”
Lu Yue remembered that her last whip had indeed been damaged when she was whipping A Yao. Having not used a whip in a long time, her hands were indeed itching to use it.
Lu Yue nodded and said, "Then you can make one."
"Your subordinate obeys."
Wen Ruo smiled calmly, then watched Lu Yue's departing figure with a wistful gaze.
Although he knew many secrets, who exactly was that woman? Could she also be related to Chong Li?
Lu Yue never expected that Xue Ji would be beaten so badly by a mere A Man, and her body, which had just recovered, was ruined again.
Xue Ji noticed her confusion and turned to say lightly, "I am an array cultivator."
Lu Yue said regretfully, "It's such a pity that you're not a sword cultivator."
In Shangqing, the best things are enjoyed by sword cultivators.
Lu Yue couldn't help but ask curiously, "Why don't you learn swordsmanship?"
Xue Ji's expression turned cold. Was she deliberately humiliating him? Didn't she know he was a formation cultivator when she brought him here?
"My master said I am not suited to learn swordsmanship."
"How could that be? I think you'd be better at swordsmanship than formations. You must be very intelligent; learning anything would be easy for you."
Lu Yue's eyes were smiling, Xue Ji's gaze darted away, and she gritted her teeth and took a deep breath.
This was just her way of flirting with him; he didn't care.
Lu Yue thought of something and took out a fine sword from her Qiankun bag: "This sword was personally forged by me, and it should be very suitable for you."
It was originally made for Yan Qing, but his body is too weak, so it's more appropriate to give it to Xue Ji.
"I am a formation cultivator, I do not know how to use a sword."
Xue Ji didn't understand what Lu Yue wanted to do. He was a disciple of the First Sword Sect, Shangqing, so how could he possibly need Lu Yue to give him his sword?
“I think you are more suited to learning swordsmanship, so you must accept this student.”
Lu Yue forcefully placed the sword beside his pillow. Xue Ji's face flushed slightly until a servant brought medicine.
It would be such a waste for him to consume a whole bowl of Blood Demon Lotus by himself. He had originally planned to secretly save some after Lu Yue left, but she was keeping a close watch on him.
"I'll drink after you leave."
"Don't think I don't know what you're up to."
Lu Yue picked up the bowl and fed him with a spoon. She had never done anything like this before, and Xue Ji choked because of her rough handling.
Even his senior sister had never fed him like this. Xue Jijin's fingers curled up under the quilt, and his body trembled slightly. He realized he was feeling extremely ashamed.
To be treated like a child by Lu Yue is a disgrace to Shangqing.
“I know you want to leave things with your sect. They abandoned you, so why are you treating them like this? It’s incredibly foolish.”
This was the third such fool Lu Yue had ever seen, even more incompetent and cowardly than the Taoist priest and the sword cultivator.
"If you drink a bowl of Blood Demon Lotus, I will give you a bowl of Blood Demon Lotus."
Xueji never believed in the promises of demons, so she still held the bowl and gulped down the medicine.
Lu Yue nodded in satisfaction and reached out to stuff a handful of fresh Blood Demon Lotus into Xue Ji's arms. The alluring and beautiful buds were as big as a palm, and the red petals radiated an incredible brilliance.
Xue Ji's ears turned slightly red; he wouldn't fall for it. It was just a trick he was using. Lu Yue's reputation for being a womanizer was well-known; he'd told countless people this kind of thing.
"You should be content; this is the first time I've given someone away. I've said I want your heart, so you need to take good care of your health."
Xue Ji turned her back to Lu Yue and pretended to go to sleep.
He'll never give her his heart if he keeps lying.
