Chapter 662 Searching for the Truth
7th Regiment, 2nd Battalion.
Who is looking for me?
Ding Yuan, the political instructor of the 2nd Battalion, had a loud voice; his voice could be heard even before he entered the office.
Su Jin immediately looked towards the door.
A moment later, a middle-aged man in his forties appeared in her line of sight.
The man was short and somewhat dark-skinned, but his eyes were bright and piercing.
While Su Jin was sizing up the other person, the other person was also sizing her up.
"You were looking for me?"
Ding Yuan was certain that he did not know the young girl in front of him.
"Hello, Instructor Ding, I'm Su Jin from the action team," Su Jin introduced herself.
Ding Yuan naturally recognized the action team. "So you're from the action team. What brings you here?"
Before answering, Su Jin looked towards the office door.
Ding Yuan immediately understood what she meant. Although he didn't know what important matter she had to discuss, he still cooperated and closed the door.
"Now you can tell me."
"Does Instructor Ding still remember Su Guoan?"
Su Jin didn't ask tactfully, but directly said her father's name.
Ding Yuan, who had been relaxed just a second ago, froze on his face almost instantly.
"Who are you?!"
The voice was sharp.
How could he possibly forget that Su Guoan was his first regimental commander? He would never forget.
However, the regimental commander had already heroically sacrificed himself 10 years ago.
After that, he never heard anyone mention the regimental commander's name again.
Seeing his reaction, Su Jin knew she had come to the right place.
“Su Guoan is my father.”
Ding Yuan gasped, staring intently at Su Jin.
He did know that the regimental commander had a daughter; it turned out to be her!
A few seconds later, his gaze toward Su Jin changed from tense to excited and kind.
"I never imagined that the regimental commander's daughter had grown up so much."
His voice trembled slightly with emotion.
"I didn't expect you to be in our military region. If the regimental commander were alive, he would be very happy."
These words were not spoken to Su Jin, but were his own murmurs.
Su Jin tried her best to remain calm, but quickly explained her purpose, "Instructor Ding, I've come to see you because I want to know the details of my father's sacrifice."
Ding Yuan was clearly taken aback, obviously not expecting that this was why she had come.
"The commander has been dead for so long, why are you still concerned about this?"
Even the deepest sorrow has passed in eleven years; it's time to let go.
"Instructor Ding, I really want to know!" Su Jin raised her voice, her expression resolute.
Ding Yuan noticed her seriousness and earnestness, and frowned slightly.
"It is common knowledge that the regimental commander sacrificed his life in the battle to support the border eleven years ago."
The girl specifically sought him out; clearly, she didn't want to ask something so simple.
“I want to know the whole story of that battle, and what happened before my father was killed.”
Kong Daqing told her that when her father sacrificed his life, besides the enemy troops, only Xiao Yunfeng was present at the scene.
So now she can only try to find some useful clues from the people who followed her father's subordinates back then.
Ding Yuan's probing gaze fell on her, and he immediately noticed something.
"It's not that I don't want to tell you, but so much time has passed that I don't remember many things clearly anymore."
He didn't know what this girl wanted to find out, and it was precisely because he didn't know that he couldn't just say it casually.
