Chapter 27 Showdown
Zhou Zhenxing looked at Su Jin, who was sitting in the corner chair.
She lowered her head slightly, her long eyelashes trembling gently as she chewed.
The sunlight streamed through the window and fell perfectly on her fair face.
He thought back to the first time he met Su Jin, and how he was amazed by her beauty.
Su Jin was beautiful, with a pure and ethereal beauty that he had never seen before, untouched by worldly dust.
He was moved.
So when his parents tried to match them up, he was even happy.
On their wedding night, he was absolutely certain that she was the woman he wanted to cherish for the rest of his life.
However, this initial excitement gradually subsided with time and returned to calm.
Until he met another passionate girl in the army, whose personality was completely different from hers...
Su Jin seemed completely oblivious to his gaze and quietly finished her steamed bun.
"How is everything at home?" Zhou Zhenxing asked.
Su Jin looked up and met his gaze. "I sent you a telegram earlier, asking you to go back. Did you receive it?"
"Telegram?" Zhou Zhenxing hesitated.
Su Jin pressed further, "Didn't you receive it?"
Zhou Zhenxing gave an affirmative answer, "Received it. However, the company had an exercise recently, so I really couldn't find the time."
Su Jin murmured softly, "So that's how it is. You haven't been home for a long time. Mom said you should arrange some time to go back as soon as possible."
If it's necessary to bring it, then of course it should be brought.
Zhou Zhenxing knew that he hadn't been home to visit his family for too long, and he felt somewhat guilty about it.
"Even if you don't come, I'm planning to go back next month."
Su Jin: "That's good."
"Is there anything I can do for you this time?" After asking about his family situation, Zhou Zhenxing got straight to the point.
Su Jin told the truth: "Recently, the educated youth in the village have started to return to the city, and Mom also asked me to come and find you so I can join you in the military."
Zhou Zhenxing naturally knew that the educated youth were returning to the city, but what did that have to do with her coming to join the army?
"You shouldn't have come without discussing it with me."
The tone wasn't harsh, but it carried a hint of reproach.
Su Jin reminded him, "You already said that yesterday."
There's no need to repeat what you've already said.
Zhou Zhenxing tried to compose himself, but he couldn't help but ask in a slightly rising tone at the end of his voice, "So you're going to stay?"
Su Jin stared at his face for three seconds. "If you agree."
I disagree.
Before she could finish speaking, Zhou Zhenxing had already impatiently refused.
Su Jin's face didn't show much expression; she had already guessed that he would have this attitude.
She didn't speak, but waited for him to continue.
Zhou Zhenxing realized that he had been too obvious and excited, and immediately explained: "It's not a simple matter to accompany the troops. There are no housing quotas available in the company right now."
Su Jin said "Oh", "Or we could rent a place outside first."
Zhou Zhenxing frowned deeply. She really went to great lengths to stay by his side.
“No. My allowance is limited, and I have to give my family living expenses every month. I can’t afford to pay for rent.”
Following his words, Su Jin asked, "Then what do you want to do?"
Zhou Zhenxing had been waiting for her to say that. That was just her personality; she would do exactly what he wanted, and even if she was dissatisfied, she wouldn't argue back.
The thought that had been lingering in my mind for so long was finally about to be laid bare.
