Chapter 22
Chapter Twenty-Two
Shang Mang gave a forced smile: "Nonsense." Meng Yingying's head was still throbbing, so she didn't say anything more to him and slumped onto the pillow, flattening herself out in a starfish shape.
"Senior Meng—" A weak voice came, and the door was opened, startling the person.
"Ah, Ah Guai?" Kong Fusheng clutched his stomach. He had diarrhea all night yesterday, and his stomach was still hurting. Senior Meng ate more than him but didn't have any pain. There must be some kind of magic medicine. He opened the door and saw Ah Guai.
Looking at him with a frustrated expression, he quickly turned to the bed, where Senior Meng spread out in a large "X" shape.
Could it be...? The thought popped into his head, and he couldn't believe it.
"Senior Meng, Senior Meng, he's so young, how could you..." He stammered, inching his way out. Shang Mang frowned, and Meng Yingying sat up: "What are you thinking about?"
"He and I are not related," Meng Yingying explained, emphasizing each word.
Shang Mang glanced at him coldly: "It's nothing?" He rarely showed a hint of anger in his eyes, as if he had been humiliated.
Kong Fusheng covered his mouth and said, "Senior Meng, don't worry, I won't tell anyone." He ran out in a panic, as if confirming that their relationship was twisted. Meng Yingying held her head, this was really difficult. The gaze from the other side was intense. Meng Yingying thought of something and peeked out from her palm: "You care so much, you don't happen to like me?"
"I just want to kill you," he said fiercely, then slammed the door and left, quite annoyed. Why had he been agonizing over this all night? He should have just killed her.
Chaos erupted early in the morning, and Meng Yingying rubbed her head.

Meng Yingying paused, and the voice in her mind, true to its word, reminded her.
What did she do yesterday to make his score jump to five hundred overnight? That's terrifying! He really is the kind of person who's secretly passionate.
Meng Yingying lingered inside for a long time before finally coming downstairs. Before she even got close, she saw Zhou Xiuqi and Ling Daozi facing each other from afar, both with serious expressions. Meng Yingying stood still and didn't move forward.
"The coffin has run away."
"What?! You've been searching for so long, and you still haven't caught the biggest one?!"
Ling Daozi sighed and said, "Forget it, if you had captured this coffin-maker so easily, you wouldn't have killed so many people back then."
"Truly, there are many troubles, and evil spirits have appeared in the world. These things are unavoidable. You must diligently cultivate and never be negligent, otherwise this world will eventually face bloodshed." Ling Daozi solemnly instructed, and Zhou Xiuqi agreed, lowering his eyes. Ling Daozi was always like this. He was serious and rigid when dealing with him, but when dealing with Meng Yuan, he was a kind and amiable old man. At first, he would ask why, but gradually, as time went on, he stopped caring about such things. Meng Yuan did not need to take responsibility, but he did.
“Master, I’ve been working hard on my cultivation lately, and I can help my senior brother with some of the burden!” Meng Yingying interrupted them and walked over.
Ling Daozi's brow relaxed upon seeing her. Zhou Xiuqi noticed this, and Meng Yingying said, "Master, I really can." Ling Daozi said, "You are different from your senior brother. Your senior brother—"
Before speaking further, Meng Yingying said, "There's nothing different; we are all Daoists." Her voice was light and clear. Ling Daozi was taken aback, and Zhou Xiuqi looked up; from beginning to end, there was nothing different.
They were all Taoist priests.
Ling Daozi doted on her and protected her in his heart. He treated her very well, but he also taught her Taoist arts. Since she learned them, she could do them. Once she did them, she was no different from Zhou Xiuqi.
Ah Jin and Ah Li came to call them for dinner. Meng Yingying pulled Zhou Xiuqi up and said, "Senior brother, let's go eat."
After their figures disappeared into the distance, Ling Daozi stroked his beard, squinted, and muttered to himself, "You are all different."
Meng Yingying sat at the table, while Kong Fusheng slumped weakly on it: "Senior Meng, doesn't your stomach hurt?"
“I already told you, I can handle spicy food very well,” Meng Yingying said. Kong Fusheng believed her completely and stopped talking.
Meng Yingying smiled triumphantly. As Shang Mang sat down, her attention was drawn to him. She hadn't looked closely that morning, but now, seeing the slap mark on his face, she was startled. Such an obvious sign indicated she had slapped him; no wonder he was so angry this morning. But did slapping him give him any pleasure? And why did it increase his reward by five hundred?
This person's tastes are a bit strange. Kong Fusheng looked left and right, and when he saw her gaze fixed on Shang Mang's face, he felt a chill. He didn't expect Senior Meng to be this kind of person, actually lusting after a boy younger than her.
Kong Fusheng carefully covered his face with his hand, then whispered, "A-Guai, you must not give in to her. A man must have dignity." Shang Mang lowered his eyes, gritted his teeth, and really wanted to kill them all.
Meng Yingying felt a little guilty and lowered her head to eat.
The meal was eaten in silence, where no one spoke.
"Meng Yuan".
Meng Yingying was suddenly called by name. She looked up helplessly, just when she most wanted to be treated as an NPC.
"I said I would test you," he said.
Meng Yingying tensed up immediately, not because she didn't know how, but because she was naturally afraid of this situation.
"Water Talisman."
"The water god is in the heavens, with boundless boundaries. I beg the god to lend me my way to return to the smoke."
"Fire Talisman".
"The God of Fire is in the heavens, with boundless boundaries. I beg the God to lend me the power to transform one thing into countless forms."
Zhou Xiuqi nodded: "These are just the lowest level talismans. The higher the level of the talisman, the more magic power is required. Now you not only have to memorize the talismans, but also practice powerful spells."
"Faced with high-level ghosts, your low-level talismans are completely ineffective, not even capable of self-defense." He spoke a lot, more than usual, and Meng Yingying memorized it. She had learned some high-level talismans, but the more powerful they were, the more harmful they were to her body.
"We're going somewhere today."
Where to?
"Cuixianglou." Zhou Xiuqi put down his chopsticks.
...
Inside the Cui Xiang Pavilion, the air was filled with the sounds of birdsong and dancing, the jade pot gleaming in the sunlight—a scene of perfect beauty. Hua Liu swayed her hips and smiled, "What are you doing now?" A dark figure crouched on the ground. Hua Liu couldn't see him clearly, but instinctively felt it was him. She reached out her hand, but the person pounced on her, biting and biting her face. Hua Liu screamed. Then someone rushed out: "Sister Hua Liu!"
He stepped forward and kicked the man away forcefully. The man instantly started bubbling and crackling as if he were on fire, shouting, "Xinghua Village! Xinghua Village!" His face slowly melted like water, attracting many customers to surround him.
"This isn't Li Youde!" someone exclaimed.
Hua Liu covered her face with both hands, blood flowing out from between her fingers. Shen Qingshan watched, her eyes flashing slightly.
A moment later, someone came and took Hua Liu away. Shen Qingshan followed. When they entered the room, the madam pushed her way in. Hua Liu quickly covered her face and turned her head away, but the madam said, "Hua Liu, let Mama take a look."
Her voice was full of heartache. Everyone in the room was silent, gathered around. Hua Liu trembled; her face was ruined, and that meant she had nothing left. The madam's rough hand pressed against Hua Liu's, showing no disgust at the blood on her hand.
"Willow vine," she called again.
Hua Liu trembled as she revealed half her face, causing everyone to gasp in horror. Her face was a bloody mess. The madam sighed, "Hua Liu, you've been doing this for so many years, you must be tired." She touched the back of Hua Liu's hand tenderly, her aged voice filled with concern, "Lock her up."
Shen Qingshan watched helplessly as she was dragged away, her eyes filled with suppressed resentment.
The madam walked past her, saying cryptically, "Keep to your place." Shen Qingshan lowered her head and remained silent. The madam walked past a group of people. Shen Qingshan walked to the edge of the corridor and looked down at the men living in a drunken stupor. She took a few deep breaths.
"It's them?" Shen Qingshan's expression hardened.
"Can we find the coffin here?" Meng Yingying guessed. Zhou Xiuqi walked forward and said, "No need to search. Someone will come to us."
Kong Fusheng looked left and right, feeling somewhat uneasy: "This is not a good place, we should leave quickly." The woman's handkerchief fluttered in the wind, and the strong scent of rouge was unbearable for Kong Fusheng.
"Have you never been to a place like this before?" Meng Yingying asked casually. Kong Fusheng immediately replied, "I have practiced the Boy's Kung Fu since I was a child, so naturally I cannot come to a place like this."
"Then why are you still pursuing Cong Rong like this?" Meng Yingying said, only realizing she had said it aloud after the words had already left her mouth.
Kong Fusheng shifted his gaze, his cheeks flushed: "Senior Meng! What are you saying! I have no, no, any feelings for Miss Congrong. We are, we are..." He stammered, which only made it seem like he was trying to cover something up.
Meng Yingying's words were impolite, so she immediately apologized, "I'm sorry."
Kong Fusheng blushed and lowered his head, remaining silent.
Two drunkards walked past, each with a girl in their arms.
"What happened upstairs just now? I heard someone mention Xinghua Village," the drunkard asked.
Upon hearing this, the girl was somewhat frightened: "Sir, you can't mention that."
The drunkard pinched her waist: "So many people have seen it, they must be curious. If you tell me, I'll give you a silver ingot."
A hint of hesitation flashed in the girl's eyes, but she still said, "It's Miss Hua Liu. I don't know why she was bitten on the face by some madman from who-knows-where. A piece of flesh was bitten off her face."
"I heard someone shout that the madman is Li Youde," the girl said. As soon as she finished speaking, a shadow fell over her.
The madam, bending over and smiling at the drunkard, said, "Sir, I'll get you another girl. Qin'er has contracted a disease, and I didn't want her to work here anymore, but she still came out to work." The madam's voice was somewhat helpless. The drunkard's face changed. What kind of disease could she have contracted here? It must be some kind of unclean disease. He instantly sobered up, pushed her to the ground, and cursed, "You're unclean and still come out here, what bad luck!"
Qin'er's face turned pale as she looked at the madam, unable to utter a single word.
The madam gestured to the left and right, and the old man beside her lifted her up and walked deeper into the building. Qin'er didn't say a word.
Meng Yingying watched the madam walk past her without any expression.
