Chapter 87
Chapter 87
Filled with unanswered questions, seven days passed in this way. During these seven days, Meng Yuan delivered meals to Shang Mang on time every day. With only three days left until the deadline, he still showed no resentment whatsoever, which was good news for her. She couldn't help but feel a little excited. Who said he couldn't control himself? He was controlling himself very well.
Meng Yuan carried the lunchbox towards the side room and saw Shou Changxing coming towards her. She had occasionally seen him standing here these past few days. He said he was waiting for the sunset, but today his expression was unnatural. He approached Meng Yuan after seeing her.
"Why do you bring him food every day?" Shou Changxing asked.
Shou Changxing reminded her of herself when she was little; her mother left, and she stayed with her father. She always felt a sense of shared sorrow for him. Meng Yuan didn't realize that she hadn't given much thought to his background, nor was she particularly wary of him.
Meng Yuan replied to him, "Give it to him."
Shou Changxing sat down, his hands gripping the railing, his face expressionless: "Servants can also be sent."
His question reminded Meng Yuan of what Zhou Xiuqi had said to her five days ago when he stopped her. She frowned and said, "If you want to give it away, then give it away."
Shou Changxing's lips curled into a subtle smile: "May I deliver it today?"
"Let you? Why?" Meng Yuan asked again, as Shou Changxing didn't seem like the type to meddle in other people's business. Something was clearly off, but Shou Changxing simply said, "You deliver things to him every day, how do you know his true nature?"
What is the true face of Shang Mang?
It was undoubtedly intriguing, as Shang Mang always avoided answering her questions. Many doubts swirled and entangled in her mind.
Shou Changxing noticed her hesitation and reached out to take the food box: "I won't hurt you."
He held the food box, but Meng Yuan hesitated to let go: "Why?"
Why do this? Shou Changxing's expression was indifferent as he carefully wiped the remaining oil off the food box: "I just want you to see his true colors, nothing more."
Meng Yuan is also human. All the mysteries in front of her are about to make her lose her way, but the faint radiance that appears makes people want to grasp it.
Meng Yuan twitched the corner of her mouth: "Really?"
Shou Changxing nodded.
Inside, the candlelight gradually died down. Shang Mang raised his hand and then lowered it, the sound echoing as he did so. The door was pushed open, and he casually shifted his gaze: "You."
As soon as I exited, I saw that it was a man.
Shou Changxing carried a food box and walked in. Before the door was even closed, Shang Mang raised his hand to block the light that suddenly stung his eyes.
"You're disappointed to see me, aren't you?" Shou Changxing walked over and placed the food box on the table. Shang Mang ignored it, his gaze fixed outside. The door swayed a few times in the wind, and he looked away, his gaze lingering.
Shou Changxing served up dish after dish, but he didn't respond or get angry.
He bent down, casting a shadow.
Meng Yuan could only see his back, and she couldn't help but lean forward to peek out.
Something rolled to her feet with a thud. She lowered her eyes, her dark gaze filled with terror. It stared at her wide-eyed, its lips moving slightly.
It is the head of the guardian star.
The bells throughout the room vibrated, emitting a piercing sound, and talismans flew everywhere.
Blood slowly flowed out, like a shallow red river.
Meng Yuan's vision blurred, her heart pounded, and her fingers trembled. She felt like she was drowning and could not stand steadily. She gripped the door frame tightly and slowly turned her eyes toward the room.
The room was pitch black, so dark you couldn't see your hand in front of your face. The darkness swallowed the red on the floor, revealing only one bright spot: a pair of crimson pupils. Blood dripped from his hands, slowly trickling down, and his heart trembled even more violently.
Meng Yuan was about to slide down, and fear spread from the bottom of her heart.
Only two words were in my mind.
It's over.
Everything was over. The extreme emotions made her stomach churn, and she couldn't help but gag. She ran inside and knelt on the floor, retching. Her stomach was empty. She had planned to eat with him today, thankfully, she hadn't eaten anything.
All eyes were fixed on her.
Shang Mang reached out and touched her ear, where a little dirt remained. Startled, she jerked her hand back and vigorously wiped it off her body; there was blood on his hand.
He couldn't see it; he couldn't see the color of the blood.
The fabric ripped with a tearing sound. Meng Yuan grabbed his legs, stood up, and said in a trembling voice, "Can't you wipe your hands?"
His fingers were gripped tightly by hers, and her damp, sweaty hands smeared across the back of his hand, burning hot.
Shang Mang pushed her away and said, "I killed someone."
Meng Yuan's face fell, her messy hair obscuring her expression. "Hmm." He wanted to explain. If he explained what Shou Changxing had just told him, all of this would be over.
But he remained silent, not uttering a single word.
"My senior brother is coming." She wanted to break the silence.
"Don't you want to marry me?" Meng Yuan asked, enunciating each word clearly.
Shang Mang's heart ached more and more. He said, "Do you really want to marry me, or do you want to leave this place?"
He knew it all along. Meng Yuan took a breath: "So you're going to use this method to make me your captive?"
"Yes!" Shang Mang suddenly burst out, letting out a low shout.
"So what if you do? Why should you leave whenever you want? Why should you? I'm going to make sure you can never escape, and suffer in the cycle of reincarnation just like me!"
Meng Yuan was speechless.
Unable to refute, his eyes were red.
But no tears fell; the struggle and surging emotions were unable to break free from the sense of constraint.
Shang Mang looked at her and gave her a deep look: "Killing you a thousand times, ten thousand times, would not make you feel the same pain as me."
"Then leave." For the first time, Meng Yuan directly told him to leave.
Shang Mang chuckled: "You've abandoned me once again."
A strand of dark hair was wrapped around Meng Yuan's neck, smoothly binding her and slowly sliding down to her waist. Meng Yuan frowned and said, "What are you doing!"
Shang Mang smiled slightly: "I told you, I would kill you."
A sharp sword aura pierced upwards, and Shang Mang hoisted you up on his shoulder: "How could you be wrong? I should have known."
Completely different.
Could this be his true nature?
The evil spirit that had been fixed on the table returned, and Zhou Xiuqi shouted, "Put her down!"
Shang Mang threw his head back and laughed wildly. Amidst the maniacal laughter of a madman, blood mist rose everywhere. Zhou Xiuqi knew something was wrong. He thrust the Evil Blade in and was forced back several steps.
They've gone mad, completely mad.
Meng Yuan had never found the smell so pungent and unpleasant. Overwhelmed by it, she fainted.
Que Xie carefully sheathed his sword. Zhou Xiuqi looked at the remnants in the room, squatted down, looked at the head, and reached out to press his eyelids: "Sunrise and sunset, countless traps, do you like it? All of this?"
The head cannot speak, but Zhou Xiuqi's straight lips curled up slightly.
"Where is my good disciple! Where is my good disciple!" Ling Daozi slammed the door shut. Zhou Xiuqi slowly straightened up and said, "The ghost fetus took her away."
Ling Daozi stumbled: "Sin! Sin!"
...
Glug, glug, glug, countless heads rolled in all directions, gathering at her feet, piling up into a mountain, gradually pressing down on her chest.
"Ah." Meng Yuan woke up to find herself in unknown darkness. The sound of dripping water filled her ears, and her skin was cold enough to give her goosebumps. Meng Yuan couldn't help but curse, "You think you can do nothing by tying me up?"
"Damn Shang Mang, say something to me!"
"Hmm." Meng Yuan's voice disappeared, her lips were enveloped by a very cold block of ice.
"Damn it, what's wrong with you?" Meng Yuan continued to curse, but her mouth was gagged again. It was dark all around, and she couldn't sense Shang Mang's presence. She only felt him shifting between his left and right sides.
Damn, all I can think about is this word.
What on earth is he doing? Was all of this arranged by her in her past life? It doesn't seem like it at all, damn it.
Damn, damn, damn.
Meng Yuan shrank her neck and unconsciously stretched it out. He stood behind her, leaned down and slowly moved his body upwards, touching her neck.
My waist itched, and I felt a hand on it, carefully kneading the flesh around my waist.
"That feeling of being neither close nor distant isn't pleasant, is it?" He finally spoke.
My fingertips brushed against my earlobe, causing a slight itch.
"This is what you gave me." Shang Mang spoke in her ear, and Meng Yuan felt as if countless insects were crawling all over her body. Suddenly, someone breathed on her nose.
"Kiss me." Shang Mang commanded.
Meng Yuan hated being ordered around the most. She bit her lip and laughed, "Are you a dog in heat?"
"Have you ever seen a ghost in heat?" He snapped his fingers.
Meng Yuan's eyes stung. She squeezed them shut, then slowly opened them, her vision blurry. She could see her surroundings clearly: the dark walls were covered in damp moss, and the only things inside were the chaise lounge beneath her and the campfire in the center.
This is a cave.
She was tied up like a dumpling, and the blankets wrapped her whole body.
"What exactly do you want?" Meng Yuan couldn't help but shout again.
"You're such a good liar, you can even deceive yourself, why can't you deceive me?" He looked down at Meng Yuan. "Right here. If you succeed, I'll let you leave; if you fail, I'll kill you."
Meng Yuan scoffed: "You think I can't leave on my own without lying to you?"
Shang Mang smiled crookedly: "Of course you can, but I'm talking about leaving this world."
"Can you help me leave this world?" Meng Yuan asked, half-believing, half-doubting.
"Sure," he said confidently, though his eyes showed little interest.
Could this be the path Meng Yuan left for her in her past life? She thought to herself, and decided to pretend to agree for now.
Meng Yuan agreed, and Shang Mang stared at her: "If you go against it, you will be considered a failure."
Meng Yuan: "How do we define success?"
Shang Mang touched the sticky moss: "Naturally, it's my decision."
As expected, things weren't that simple. He was the one in charge, but what could she do if he kept saying he didn't have the final say? Meng Yuan sighed inwardly. But she had no other choice now. If he kidnapped her, her senior brother and master would definitely come looking for her. They wouldn't let her stay here for long. She could just treat it as playing along with him. If what he said was true, she wouldn't lose out.
The cave was deserted, and the occasional dripping water made Meng Yuan easily tense: "I can't go anywhere else, this place is very uncomfortable."
Shang Mang pinched her chin: "Is this the first trick?"
Meng Yuan was speechless. In his heart, he probably always thought of her as a complete liar. From the moment they met until now, he had always called her a liar, even though she hadn't taken anything from him.
