Ye Zelin said, "Sister Fushu, if I don't agree, do you know what the consequences will be? You will face the condemnation of thousands of people. I agreed to your mother's request, firstly for my father and mother, and secondly for your reputation."
Hua Fushu became even more annoyed and said, "My mother, if you force me to marry you, are you going to marry me? Who asked you to meddle in other people's business? Since I'm here to break off the engagement, why should I be afraid of those insults? You and I are not compatible, and we will eventually separate. Your meddling will only lead to my failure. Do you know how many things are waiting for me to accomplish?"
He pounded the table with his clenched fist, causing the plates on the table to sway slightly.
Ye Zelin said calmly, "Sister Fushu, why are you so angry? You and I are just the same people after all."
Hua Fushu retorted, "Who is like you?"
Ye Zelin sighed softly. Hua Fushu was angry and didn't notice. He only heard Ye Zelin say, "Sister Fushu, have you ever heard this? A filial son serves his parents by showing respect when they are at home, bringing them joy when they are raising them, worrying about them when they are sick, mourning them when they die, and performing solemn sacrifices. Only by doing these five things can a child fulfill his or her responsibilities to his or her parents. If I can make my father and mother happy, I will have fulfilled my filial duty."
Hua Fushu was getting more and more annoyed. She stood up and cursed, "I have never seen anyone as pedantic as you!"
Ye Zelin also stood up and said, "You are not an unfilial person. You are determined not to marry me and are not afraid of rumors. You had the opportunity to escape on the sixth day of the wedding, but you didn't run away because you were concerned about your mother."
You hit the nail on the head.
Hua Fushu fell silent and looked at Ye Zelin in disbelief.
She did not escape during those days not because she was afraid of rumors, but because she was concerned about her mother, Mrs. Qidie.
She still remembers the scene on the ninth day of the third lunar month eight years ago. The clean white bed was flooded with blood, just like the bright red dress she was wearing and the room full of red. Her mother was giving birth to her sister, and the midwife said that her mother had a difficult delivery and her sister could not be born.
It was her words that caused her mother's difficult labor. She said, "Having me and my brother isn't enough, why did you give birth to so many children?"
It was because of her words that her mother had a miscarriage and gave birth prematurely. If the master had not arrived in time, her mother and sister would have died.
She also secretly admired Ye Zelin's meticulousness. Like him, she had her own concerns, people and things to care about.
"So what? I married you as my mother wished, but do you think I've really compromised?" Hua Fushu confessed the reason why he didn't run away.
But, she still blamed and hated Ye Zelin. If he hadn't been so talkative, how could she have stayed in this general's mansion?
If it weren't for his father, how could that incident have happened? Why would her mother use this incident to force her to get married?
If she treats Ye Zelin well, would she be a flourishing flower?
Ye Zelin continued, "I won't care what you want to do. Sister Fushu, you should have a good rest."
He turned and walked out the door, only to see Sanqiao staring at him fiercely. Ye Zelin ignored her and walked towards the pavilion beside the pool.
On a spring night, the cool breeze brushes against my cheeks, which is quite refreshing. However, being alone, it is a bit lonely.
But the room was not quiet. Ye Zelin had excellent hearing and turned a deaf ear to it.
Hua Fushu was discussing with Sanqiao what to do tomorrow.
As soon as Ye Zelin came out, Sanqiao immediately went into the house. She had been guarding outside the house, and only felt relieved after making sure that Hua Fushu was fine.
At noon, everything is quiet and silent. The huge city is shrouded in darkness. Only the stars in Penglai are shining brightly, adding a little light to the night.
Ye Zelin turned around, but saw that the lights in the house were bright. His handsome brows frowned suddenly, then calmed down. He walked down the pavilion and walked towards Penglai Residence. He stopped outside the door and was about to knock on it, but his hand suddenly stopped. He put down his hand and looked at the lights in the house. He stayed for a while, and when he saw no movement, he went to the side room.
Inside the room, two people were lying on a couch covered with red gauze. Hua Fushu was tired after a day and was already fast asleep.
Sanqiao lay on her side opposite Hua Fushu. She looked at Hua Fushu's sweet sleeping face and said to herself, "Girl, Qiao'er will stay with you forever and never leave you."
It was already dawn and Hua Fushu had a good night's sleep. When she opened her eyes, Sanqiao was nowhere to be seen.
Hua Fushu got off the couch, the door was gently pushed open, and Sanqiao walked in, holding a copper basin in her hand with a clean white towel beside it.
Sanqiao placed the copper basin on the table and went over to help Fushu wash up.
Hua Fushu came from a merchant family, and she was not a pampered daughter who had everything she wanted. When Sanqiao approached her, she was wearing a small bamboo green jacket.
Seeing the lush green and red flowers, Sanqiao couldn't help but smile, "Miss, let Qiao'er come."
Sanqiao untied her belt and took off Hua Fushu's bamboo green jacket. A crimson bellyband wrapped around her graceful figure, and her two snow-white arms were as white as jade.
Hua Fushu's appearance is not outstanding, but she has a good figure.
Sanqiao walked to the wardrobe and took out some clothes. She first put on a snow-white silk undershirt for Hua Fushu, then put on two more clothes, pushed Hua Fushu to the dressing table, and picked up a peach wood comb to comb Hua Fushu's long black hair.
Sanqiao was very skillful and the bun was not complicated, so she quickly tied it up.
Hua Fushu was wearing a flowing bun with delicate plum blossom beads in her hair, a bright red short-sleeved shirt inside, a peony red long-sleeved jacket outside, and a light red pleated long skirt, looking like a bride.
These three different shades of red are several times better than the green dress and red skirt that Hua Fushu wears. At least they are not out of place.
Hua Fushu looked at himself in the mirror, dressed in a different shade of red. He held his chin and said listlessly, "Qiao'er, who are you treating me like this for? I'm not going to offer tea to my parents."
