Chapter 33: Balding

Chapter 33: Balding

It's not as powerful against living people as it is against dead people... but it's still okay, it's not completely powerless to fight back.

But since Xiao Yu was more confident, Xu Chuchu didn't argue with him and followed quietly behind.

The further they went in, the stronger the smell of blood became. Xiao Yu could smell it without warning. Everyone followed the direction of the smell.

Suddenly, a muffled "bang" sound was heard in the darkness, followed by Shao Mingjie's cry: "It's a corpse, it's a corpse! Master Xu, help me—"

"Where is it!" Xu Chuchu immediately drew out his peach wood sword and rushed over following the sound.

Xiao Yu also immediately lit a fire stick to illuminate the direction of Shao Mingjie.

Shao Mingjie fell beside the coffin in the middle of the tomb, and his back was pressed down by a corpse lying across the coffin. He screamed and struggled on the spot.

Xiao Yu strode forward, picked up the corpse, and "rescued" Shao Mingjie from the clutches of the "zombie".

"Have you ever been on the battlefield and killed the enemy?" His face fell.

Shao Mingjie climbed up and saw that the person holding him down wasn't a zombie but just an ordinary corpse. He looked embarrassed and said, "I'm nervous, nervous."

Xu Chuchu also breathed a sigh of relief.

At her current level, she could usually sense the presence of ghosts and zombies in advance. If a large zombie that even she couldn't detect came, no one present today would be able to escape.

Fortunately it was just a misunderstanding.

However, this commotion ruined Xiao Yu's plan of striking back. If there really were tomb robbers hiding in the tomb, they would have definitely fled or hidden after hearing the noise.

"He died not long ago, less than an hour ago." Xiao Yu put the body on the ground and examined it. "There is a fatal wound on the chest and heavy bleeding. No wonder there is such a strong smell of blood."

He searched the man again and found several pieces of buried jade and jewelry. "They were tomb robbers too. We don't know why they killed each other. Let's check the area to see if there are any more bodies."

Upon receiving the order, everyone lit up their lights and searched the surroundings. They soon found the bodies of two more tomb robbers. The murderers were brutal and a lot of blood had been shed.

Xu Chuchu became suspicious and squatted down to carefully examine the bodies. He found that although the injuries were not in the same place, the sizes of the wounds were exaggerated. They did not seem to be caused by ordinary swords, so the amount of bleeding would be astonishing.

Looking at the edge of the wound again, it had turned a strange dark purple color, and she suddenly had a very bad premonition.

"Master Xu!" One of Shao Mingjie's men suddenly shouted, "Watch out behind you!"

Before Xu Chuchu could turn around, she felt a shadow behind her.

She quickly dodged and suddenly heard the sound of a sharp blade tearing through the air, and felt a chill on her head.

A few blades just grazed her hair, and with a wail, the person who attacked her from behind fell heavily to the ground.

Xu Chuchu looked up and found that the person who threw the hidden weapon to save her was Xiao Yu opposite her.

He was holding a folding fan with a cold expression.

"Thank you." Xu Chuchu breathed a sigh of relief.

"No thanks." Xiao Yu said calmly, "Next time someone reminds you to be careful, remember to dodge to the left or right. Don't waste time raising your head so high. You might get shaved bald by the person who saved you."

Xu Chuchu was stunned. He touched the top of his head and indeed felt a few strands of hair.

Shao Mingjie immediately went up and tied the man up with his men.

"Alive, alive! We finally caught him alive!" Shao Mingjie yelled, "Damn it! He actually knew to hide in the coffin. Are you bullying me because I'm too timid to look inside? Are there any other accomplices? Where are you? Tell me!"

It turned out that the attacker was also a tomb robber. When he heard the noise from the crowd, he knew that he was outnumbered, so he hid in the coffin.

After the other bodies were discovered and everyone's attention was distracted, they launched a surprise attack, and the first person they attacked was Xu Chuchu, who looked the weakest.

The tomb robbers may not be as skilled in combat as the officers and soldiers under Shao Mingjie, but their acumen in the dark is unmatched by ordinary people.

Xiao Yu did not participate in the interrogation. He walked to the tomb robber, calmly pulled out the blade embedded in his body, wiped it clean, and then inserted it back into the body of his folding fan one by one.

It turned out that the hidden weapon was shot out from his fan.

"You can even throw hidden weapons with this fan of yours." Xu Chuchu sighed, "No wonder I've never seen you carrying any weapons."

She thought Xiao Yu was just pretending to be cool by waving a fan every day.

Upon hearing this, Xiao Yu actually curled the corners of his mouth and handed the fan to Xu Chuchu. He didn't know where he pressed the mechanism, and two short blades protruded from the handle and side of the fan, and then retracted. The length was the same as that of a dagger.

...It has so many functions.

Xu Chuchu remembered that Xiao Yu often poked her with this fan, and suddenly felt a chill on her back.

Shao Mingjie was still interrogating the tomb robber over there.

"You still refuse to confess!" He slapped the tomb robber on the head. "Where are the burial objects hidden? What's the reason for the fight here? Are there two groups of people?"

The tomb robber cried out, "Sir, I'm not lying! There's a monster in this tomb! These people were killed by the monster, and I only escaped by hiding in a coffin! Let's run!"

"Monster, monster!" Shao Mingjie slapped him twice more. "You're bullying your grandfather. I'm afraid of monsters, right?"

Upon hearing this, Xu Chuchu returned to the coffin where the tomb robber had just hidden to check.

The coffin had been half opened before, just enough for someone to get in, so she simply pushed it open all the way to see clearly what was inside.

Inside the coffin, the tomb owner - the remains of the prince from the previous dynasty - was still inside, but due to the tossing and turning of tomb robbers, many parts had been broken and no human form could be seen.

There were traces of gold, silver and jade items placed around the body, but now they were empty, having been taken away.

monster……

Xu Chuchu suddenly noticed a dark copper plate on the chest of the corpse, with some symbols faintly engraved on it.

Perhaps because it had been in contact with the corpse for a long time and its color was similar, it was not discovered. Or perhaps no one knew its value, so everything else in the coffin was moved away, leaving only this copper piece.

However, Xu Chuchu had already seen the value of this thing. Her heart was pounding. She glanced at the others and saw that they were busy with other things, so she quietly put her hand into the coffin.

The moment her fingers touched the copper sheet, the peach wood sword on her back suddenly began to shake wildly, making a buzzing sound that was particularly clear in the tomb.

She subconsciously pulled her hand back.

Everyone looked at Xu Chuchu. They didn't notice her little movements, but they all saw her shaking sword and remembered what she said when she just went down the tomb.

——If you see the wooden sword on her back shaking by itself, run back immediately without stopping for a moment.

"Run!" Xu Chuchu shouted.

Without a moment's hesitation, Xiao Yu immediately ordered the others to retreat: "This way, quickly!"

Xu Chuchu hurriedly followed behind. She ran a few steps, then remembered the copper piece in the coffin. She gritted her teeth and ran back, pulled out the copper piece and put it in her arms.
