Chapter 161: I wonder if it can withstand a beating.
Yan Buyu blushed and leaned back slightly. "Didn't you say you hadn't eaten yet? I came to see you, but Nianke had to leave first, so Abin brought me here."
Si Jingxu raised an eyebrow, and that was it; the mood switch was complete.
But he liked her no matter what.
It's fine as it is now; she blushes easily when teased and gets annoyed if you say too much.
"Have you eaten?" Si Jingxu naturally grasped her hand. "Are you hungry?"
“I’ve already eaten noodles,” Yan Buyu handed him the menu. “I was worried you wouldn’t have enough time, so I’ve ordered for you first. See if there’s anything else you’d like to add.”
Si Jingxu took the menu and casually placed it aside, staring intently at her. "I'll eat whatever you order. I'll listen to you."
"Ahem," Yan Buyu coughed lightly, trying to pull his hand back, but failed. "Brother Jingxu, have you seen that news?"
“Yes, Wu Xiaoyang is dead.” Si Jingxu said in a flat tone. “He deserved it. He offended a lot of people in Hong Kong. He had even bullied the daughter of a financial tycoon before. He was definitely being retaliated against.”
Yan Buyu suddenly recalled the image of the tattooed man in his mind, "So he was hired by someone to specifically target Wu Xiaoyang?"
No wonder he said he had a grudge against Wu Xiaoyang.
It was probably difficult to make a move in Hong Kong; they only found an opportunity after chasing him all the way to Beijing.
"Wu Xiaoyang's case has been classified as an accident. Whether it's true or not, it has nothing to do with your family. You can rest assured."
Si Jingxu took a cherry and brought it to Yan Buyu's lips. "It's very sweet."
Without saying a word, she bit his hand, unable to bear his intense gaze, and said, "Let go, I have a gift for you."
What is it?
Yan Buyu took his bag and pulled out a small brown leather box.
"Open it and take a look. I just passed by a store and thought it was very pretty, so I bought it. If you don't like it, you can keep it; you don't need to wear it."
Si Jingxu's smile never faded.
His girlfriend came to him on her own initiative, just to make sure he ate properly.
There are even gifts now.
She said she bought it on a whim, but actually she's a very thoughtful person and would never give away random things as gifts.
They must have all been carefully considered.
She said that because she was afraid the person receiving the gift wouldn't like it and she would lose face.
With her well-defined knuckles, she gently opened the box, and the small items inside caught Si Jingxu's eye.
A pair of gold rose cufflinks.
The workmanship is exquisite, the petals are lifelike, and the stamens are clearly distinguishable.
Without saying a word, he held the water glass to his lips, observing Si Jingxu's reaction.
He probably...likes it.
“I like it very much, without saying a word.” Si Jingxu said as he took out his phone and took several photos from different angles.
Then, he removed the platinum cufflinks he was wearing.
"Could you please help me put on these beautiful cufflinks, Miss Silent?" Si Jingxu looked at her with deep affection and a smile.
“Actually, there’s no need to put it on so soon,” Yan Buyu said, but she picked up a rose with both hands. “I’m happy that you like it.”
She bent down and carefully helped Si Jingxu put on her cufflinks.
Si Jingxu smiled and looked down at her.
The taciturn Miss.
They're so cute!
"Come on, let's take a picture together."
Before she could react, Si Jingxu grabbed her right hand with his left, their fingers intertwined, and found the right angle to reveal his cufflinks.
I took out my phone and took two photos.
"You should eat first," Yan Buyu said, looking at the man who posted on WeChat Moments with a mix of amusement and exasperation. "Don't you have to go back to work later?"
“Your boyfriend is the company’s top executive. If he doesn’t want to go back, he doesn’t have to.” Si Jingxu was in an extremely good mood. “Give me a thumbs up.”
He held his phone helplessly, head down.
Si Jingxu leaned over and pretended to look at his phone with her, then kissed her on the cheek when she wasn't looking.
"You!" Yan Buyu glared at him.
"I'll eat first." Si Jingxu smiled and cut a piece of steak into his mouth.
Meanwhile, Song Jingyi stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, overlooking most of the capital city.
He had just taken a shower and was only wearing a towel around his waist.
Water droplets slid down the clearly defined muscle lines on his back, and the large tattoos on his arms and back resembled some kind of totem.
"Boss, Adong sent me some photos, do you want to see them?" Acheng pushed open the door and came in, waving his phone with a grin. "I'm just afraid you can't handle it."
"Enough with the nonsense." Song Jingyi didn't look at him, his deep voice devoid of emotion. "Bring the wine."
Acheng carried two bottles of whiskey in one hand and two glasses in the other. "I want to drink too."
Song Jingyi then turned around, walked over, picked up the phone that Acheng had put down, and started looking at it.
"The little girl seems to really like this guy. She ate with him and even bought him gifts." Acheng added ice to his glass, poured in whiskey, and kept talking. "That guy is good-looking and knows how to flirt with young girls. He kisses her on the cheek and holds her hand. I just don't know if he can take a beating."
"Shut up."
With a thud, Song Jingyi threw his phone onto the table with a sullen face.
He downed a glass of wine and asked, "Have you found out anything about her childhood?"
A-Cheng, who had been chattering away just moments before, fell silent for a moment. Like Song Jingyi, he downed a glass of strong liquor in one gulp. "I told you, don't feel bad about it."
"If you say another word, go back to Italy and replace Nick with someone else." Song Jingyi crossed his arms and leaned back on the sofa.
If this guy hadn't been with him since he was a child, he would have twisted his head off.
“No way, Nick can’t even speak Chinese fluently, unlike me,” Acheng quickly filled Song Jingyi’s glass with wine. “We found the little girl’s neighbor from before she was four years old.”
An elderly woman who is over seventy years old.
More than a decade ago, I was Yan Qihang's neighbor.
Having nothing to do after retirement, I help my son take care of his grandson.
She discovered there was another child next door, and at first she thought that since they were neighbors, the children could grow up together and keep each other company.
That's not the case at all.
The neighbor's house was always locked, so she assumed no one was home.
Later they discovered that inside the large iron gate with its lock, there was a child who was so thin he was just skin and bones.
One time, the door was ajar, and you could hear a man's voice coming from inside.
Curiosity led her to push open the door a crack, only to witness a scene that made her tremble with anger.
The man lashed the girl, who was older than his grandson but smaller than him, with his belt.
The little girl seemed used to it, huddled in the corner, covered in bloody welts, and didn't utter a sound.
“Yan Qihang is often not at home. When he comes back, he beats the child and doesn’t give her any food. The old lady said that she felt sorry for the little girl and often stuffed something into her through the small window. She doesn’t know if the child ate it or not.”
With a loud "bang," the glass in Song Jingyi's hand slammed onto the table, scattering shards all over the floor.
Ice cubes and light brown liquid were splattered everywhere.
Song Jingyi's gaze was sinister, and even though the back of his hand was cut by the glass that bounced back, he felt no pain at all.
Acheng didn't say anything more; the blood in his body began to boil.
Someone's about to be in big trouble.
